Re: Daniel36's Log - Vindar 136th and other stuff

    Commission job:

I will paint it for the buyer as well, and he is practically stealing it from me afterwards, but that's okay. I got the model for free myself, so I won't feel too bad about that, and it's a good first leap into selling models I modelled and painted. Would you be happy if I modelled this for you?

I am probably going to paint some Space Marine related stuff every now and then from now and and put it up for auction on eBay. Not that I consider myself an über-painter, but I bet people would be willing to pay money for stuff I paint. I will do it purely as a side hobby though.

No, because I don't really like Nurgle stuff.
    It's really well done, though.
You should drill out the weapon's barrel, though.

I've been thinking about that as well, but I don't have the confidence. And people seem unwilling to pay decently for painted models unless they are done to an insanely high standard.

I like the work so far on the Nurgle Dreadnought. Very gribbly.

Re: Daniel36's Log - Vindar 136th and other stuff

    Thank you thank you.

No pics today, but I do have some cool news I'd like to share. We decided to start up an Escalation League at our club. We start with 500 point armies, battling each other in the league, work our way to 750, to 1000 and we end up with 2000 points. Bonus points can be scored by turning up with a fully painted army, so that should motivate people. What this means for me is I have a clear framework of what I need to paint next, meaning I can focus myself really well, something I can use. The only downside to this is, in the past years I acquired quite a few Empire minis, but apart from a unit of Militia, none of those are core, so I still need to buy three sets of State Troops to even start. Hehehehhh...

On the other hand, once I have those painted, and the limitations clear up, I can really plan painting all my stuff real well.

Oh, and I finally decided to move from Marienburg to Talabecland. Haven't decided on the town yet, but my army is going to be Talabecland instead of Marienburg. Not a lot of repainting, just the Greatsword banner. :P

I strongly suggest that you look for alternatives to the State Troops. Since I am currently painting some of those I can honestly say that they are horrible.

Nope I would be very angry with myself, simply because I apparently started 40k again and wasted a great opportunity to have a custom piece for my Empire army made up.
    Looks great though! ^^

QFT. The current State Troops have too much details, that look way too similar and are mind-numbingly dull to paint. If you can, try to get older iterations of the State Troops.

Yeah I know. I mistakenly ordered a State Troop box and then foolishly decided to assemble them as swordsmen as well. I HATE the models. But what can you do? I am born with the defect of needing to have GW only models in my army for some odd reason... On the other hand, this could be the first time I conquer my fears and order something non-GW without caring. It's not like I am planning on going to any official tournament.

Right. Compared to these, I love the old spearmen models. Dunno why, as they are also kind of dull to look at, but I do like them a lot more than the new ones. The thing is, they are pretty difficult to find nowadays. Only well painted ones for top dollar or really badly molested ones for still too much money.

I may have to look in them Perry miniatures line... But I hate ordering online (another defect)...
If you know anyone who wants to get rid of old Spearmen, let me know!

Why don't you put up a thread in the trading forum here?
Since the Spearmen were in the 6th Ed. starter set I am fairly certain a great number of people here have some of them lying around.
I have a bunch of Handgunners left over, if you are interested in those.

I'm always seeing some of the old 6th starter models popping up on ebay when i trawl it.

Definetely worth checking in on regularly
Molovian Guard (2,500 -ish Imperial Guard) (In all manner of shambles)
Wuzza's Whirlin' Wheelerz (In progress 2k SpeedFreeks)
The Horde of the Horned one (3k Skaven)

Re: Daniel36's Log - Vindar 136th and other stuff

Yeah I am not much for eBay and Paypal and all that. Scares me... I like sending small packages with bitz all over the place every now and then but that's about it. Oh well...

Anyways, super exciting news, for me anyways. I released my very own tabletop skirmish role playing game!! Actually, it's a re-release but the previous version well over a year ago was completely different than this one.

Chronicles is the name of the game, and you can download all the core files over at chroniclesgame.wordpress.com
The game is open source so it's completely free and will always stay that way. If you decide to give it a read, let me know what you think. If you decide to give it a try, also let me know what you think. This includes criticism. I have NO idea yet how the game will actually play, though I am going to do a test session next Wednesday at my club. Exciting times. To commemorate this event, I will open up a new project log to chronicle *coughcough* all my test games of Chronicles, and that of other people, through pictures, to give a good idea of how the game plays, but that's something for next week.

I would love to hear what you guys think.

Oh and don't worry, I will still continue painting my Empire stuff... It's just this log will become a tad more random once more.

Well, yeah. But I sold both of them. I actually sold the Land Raider and then the buyer also wanted me to make him a Dreadnought, which I had lying around, so I did.
    Thanks!

Nice greenstuffing skills. The dreadnought is giving off a real Dead-Space-Necromorph vibe for me, nice work!

Thanks everyone! Need to update with some pics, I should. I actually finished the Crossbowmen quite a bit ago, even took pics... But nowadays, I can NOT be arsed to edit and upload them... Been too busy working on Chronicles anyways... Which reminds me, should get back to that... *sigh* Too many projects, too little time.

    Thanks for looking, everyone!

That Dreadnought came out really nice, almost looks like a facehugger is trying to crawl out of it.

The "too many projects, too little time" seem to be a common theme here in the random project logs.

Re: Daniel36's Log - Vindar 136th and other stuff

Yeah, the facehugger thing was kind of what I was going for.
And indeed, the "tmp/tlt" (yes, I discovered new meme!) thing seems very prevalent here.

I am exacerbating the entire deal by losing interest in everything after starting it up, and then feeling bad enough not to just sell it or bin it, therefore just keeping it until I HAVE to throw it all out... It's terrible. So it's also kind of a case of "too many projects, too little interest", really...

To make my point, I was building a dungeon using lego blocks. A pic of that is a couple pages back. I did this for my own game, Chronicles. Now, I decided that Chronicles doesn't necesarily need miniatures or scenery, that it would play just as well, for some people even play better, using empty bases with letters painted on (Dwarf Fortress style!!! BOOYAH!) and a white board, simply drawing the elements on. It's going to make my life easier, as "models" are going to be churned out like there is no tomorrow, but it also means that my awesome dungeon project, for which I have acquired a vast wealth of cool bitz over the past year, is going to be put on hold.

Just as all of this is currently on hold :
    Necromunda Orlock Gang
    Necromunda Ratskin Gang
    Necromunda Awesome Scenery Project
    Wood Elf Units
    Chronicles Adventurers
    Chronicles Skeleton Unit
    Chronicles Zombie Unit
    Chronicles Enemy Leaders
    Cavern Dungeon Set
    Imperial Guard Units

I probably even forgot a few... It makes me sad to even look at this list.
