Lost and the Damned - Slaanesh themed 1850 pts
Hiyas,
Been out of the loop for a bit and can finally get back into the scene a bit. I'm looking to do a Lost and the Damned army with a Slaanesh theme - a demonworld army if you will.
My self imposed restrictions are I'm trying to take no armor at all - all footsloggers and the army must be led by a demonprince (trying to stick to the fluff Codex CSM 2nd edition demonworld list).
Chaos Lord (HQ - Allied) - 182 pts
Mark of Slaanesh, 2XCC Weapons, Demonic Stature, Demonic Flight, Demonic Mutation, Demonic Strength, Demonic Essence, Demonic Resilience, Demonic Aura, Spiky Bits
(Wanted a kick-**** demon - the clear leader of the army)
3 Asp Champs (HQ) - 181 pts
All have MocU - 2 w/ CC & PF, 1 w/ CC & PW
(attach to mutants - I know MoS would be a bit more fluffy - but I think this list is going to need the help)
17 Mutants (Troop) - 130 pts
Icon, Champ w/ CC & PF
17 Mutants (Troop) - 130 pts
Icon, Champ w/ CC & PF
17 Mutants (Troop) - 118 pts
Icon, Champ w/ Great Weapon (Useless but conversion looks cool)
12 Traitors (Troop) - 126 pts
Lascannon, Hvy Stubber
12 Traitors (Troop) - 126 pts
Lascannon, Grenade Launcher
6 Gibbering Hordes (Troop) - 60 pts
6 Big Mutants (Elites) - 150 pts
6 Daemonettes (Elites) - 90 pts
6 Daemonettes (Elites) - 90 pts
6 Rough Riders (Fast Attack) - 77 pts
Hunting Lances, Vet Sgt w/ PW
6 Chaos Hounds (Fast Attack) - 60 pts
6 Furies (Fast Attack) - 90 pts
Converted to be Slaanesh furies
4 Chaos Spawn (Hvy Support) - 80 pts
4 Chaos Spawn (Hvy Support) - 80 pts
4 Chaos Spawn (Hvy Support) - 80 pts
Total 1850 pts Exact
133 Models
I'm trying to stick to Slaanesh theme as much as possible, hence the multiples of 6 in every unit (mutants are 18 strong incl their champ). The only unit I was unable t od othis was the Spawn whivh have a cap of 5 models - which is why I have 3 units of 4 (add to 12!)
I know Tanks armor based armies are going to present a major difficulty, but as stated I'm trying to stay away from my own Armor.
So, what do you think?

Honestly, I think the list is too fragmented. You have a little bit of everything but don't specialize in anything.
Example, why have Furies, Hounds, and Rough Riders, when you could have 3 units of one, and be able to pack a bigger punch.
Things like that.

Hmmm...
Well I have the rough riders mainly for a counter assault unit - plus I already converted some to fit in to the armies theme.
As for the furies I have them mainly to (hopefully) come into play and tie up a unit for a turn or two to prevent them from shooting on the approaching horde.
The hounds were put there just to fill the slot. I suppose I could maybe dump them and the vet upgrade on the existing RR unit - add another unit of RR w/ lances and have 11 points to place elsewhere...
I'm trying to stick to unit sizes of multiples of 6 as much as possible...

Re: Lost and the Damned - Slaanesh themed 1850 pts
i completely understand your desire to have everything match your sacred numbers, but certain units just don't function the same below a certain critical threshold.
for example, a unit of rough riders will lose 3 or 4 members if an enemy unit can draw a bead on them. so if you only take 6, only 2 or 3 are going to be able to get into combat. which means that they will be wiped out that turn. if you take 8, and lose 3, those 5 will take out enough of the enemy that they will survive the first round of combat. rough riders do two things. they take out a big chunk of whatever enemy unit that you throw them at and they tie up enemy units that would otherwise be shooting at you. so they need to last two rounds of combat. and with a little creative assaulting, you might be able to block multiple units from shooting at you (since you can't draw a line of fire thru combat).
maybe take two squads of nine (three sixes)....
traitor guardsmen on the other hand have a completely different use. with free infiltrate, the ability to have low squad sizes, and terrible morale... you can either hide them and claim table quarters or infiltrate to get shots on the side or rear armour of enemy vehicles. but with a leadership of 6, they are going to go up in a puff of smoke as soon as someone decides to target them. so there is no sence giving them anti-troop weapons AND anti-tank weapons. so i would take squads of 6 with only a lascannon or squads of 6 with a heavy bolter and a heavy stubber. figure that they will last only a round or two, and not worry about it. the only other use for traitor guardsmen is to infiltrate with icons, sneak up on the enemy, and drop some daemons on them. but basically, only take as many of these units as you need to be able to get other guard goodies. so if you only want two squads of rough riders and no tanks, take two squads.
now, the other lascannon toting chaos squad to give some serious thought to are obliterators. a squad of three (half of six) are not only a serious fire magnet (letting your footsloggers get across the table) but they can also take out troops as easily as they can take out tanks.
lastly, don't underestimate how great those mutants are! if you don't upgrade them, i would take 24 (four sixs) rather than just 18 of them. and i would give them a mutant boss with a powerfist along with the aspiring champion with a powerfist. with that many wounds, they have lots of time to swing last and still kill everything they come up against. three squad of them (half of six) will put the fear in your enemy!
chaos spawn are interesting. but three squads of four each tie up a lot of points (not to mention the US $300 price tag of them). if you have the points and money, go for it and have fun with them. they are definately a lot of fun to play in large squads (i take 5 myself).
daemons. lots of choices here and you can read other opinions of the pro's and cons of each one. myself, i like nurglings for tying up units and i like bloodletters for taking out armour 3 units (which i see a lot of in my area). but go with what you like....
lastly, i would recommend taking something that lets you do some hurting from a distance. there is nothing worst than being unable to cross a killing field with your slow moving troops. two basilisks with indirect fire are pretty darn amazing! it makes you take two more squads of traitor guardsmen, but they are cheap at 65+ points. but with this army, two hellhounds (with heavy stubbers) might fit better. mobile and great for taking out horde armies.
i like to take every unit in sets of two, so that if one doesn't work, you still have another one to do the job.
so maybe...
2 units of 6 traitor guardsmen with lascannons 136 pts
2 units of 6 traitor guardsmen with heavy stubber and heavy bolters 136 pts
2 units of 24 (22 mutants, 1 boss and 1 aspiring champion) 444pts
2 units of 9 rough riders 216 pts
2 units of 5 chaos spawn 200 pts
1 unit of 3 obliterators 210 pts
1 basilisk with indirect fire 125 pts
1 hellhound with heavy stubber 125 pts
103 figures and 2 tanks. a little light on bodies for a swarm army but you can tweak it some more.
this still leaves 258 points for daemons, or 358 if you drop a squad of spawn....

Re: Lost and the Damned - Slaanesh themed 1850 pts
following up with two is better than one, two hellhounds are much more survival than one (since all of the enemy's anti tank weapons will be focused on it, if you only take one). likewise, two basilisks are better than one, since your templates are going to scatter 2/3's of the time.
but taking two of either forces you to either give up a fast attack slot or a heavy slot, which means you either lose a squad of chaos spawn or a squad of rough riders.
personally, i love the rough riders, so i would go with the two basilisks, two rough riders and one spawn squad.
but if you like the horde running full out, maybe you should go with two hellhounds, one rough rider and two spawn squads.
play around and see what fits your style of play better....

I think some sort of tank would be nice, I hellhound would fit right in.........

I would consider giving the Rough Rider sarge the Honorifica Imperialis(this gives him the statline of a heroic senior officer) because they choose from the IG armoury, in an all infantry force an extra character helps out alot. I think with your bias against armour you might have a hard time winning. Spawn are one of the most fun units in the game...

Re: Lost and the Damned - Slaanesh themed 1850 pts
possibly think of combining the 2 units of daemonettes into 1 unit of 12 as it will be more resilient, plus less likely to pop from instability
