Thread: Diary of a workbench

    Re: Diary of a workbench

    @ Radium,
many thanks! I will give my best to create here a really nice beast in the end.

Here some more high elf ruins for basing:

This part broken in pieces and some more smaller stuff and the base will be full... hopefully... somehow...

    Kind Regards

The gradient on the dragon wings is amazing. Looking forward to seeing the whole beast finished.

    Re: Diary of a workbench

I've stumbled upon this blog. I CAN NOT BELIEVE how good your work is. What I love about your modelling and conversions is that they don't try and give an alternative to GW; they respect the design work that goes into GW stuff and show it off to its best. But then you also iron out their mistakes and take their designs onto a whole new level. Absolutely amazing work. Bravo.

A note on your hydra... I've scoured the internet for a good model of a hydra and I can't find one. There's something about trying to cram in all those necks and heads that makes every model I've seen look bulky and awkward. GW do a good job of making the body look slender and dark-elf-friendly, but the heads are oversized and the positioning is poor - the thing looks like a trotting mug tree. Finally... FINALLY... someone has done a great-looking hydra. The scale, positioning, design - it's a vast improvement on the GW design and the best one, well, on the internet. Thank you for showing everyone what a hydra model for warhammer SHOULD look like.

    Hi all,
again I hade some break in the hobby. Thanks to some friends who forced me at the workbench it looks like my motivation and joy about painting returns. It feels that my skills suffer a bit... but take a look by yourself and judge:

However I think two or three miniatures will help me to get back to old quality.
Anyway I hope you like it and have some feedback or words of motivation.

    Kind Regards
    GeOrc

Keep at it my man, you are definately one of the best artists that I know of and it would be a crime against the community to not show us your goods . I for one am grateful to your friends, so tell them they should definately keep prodding you like the cave squig you are

Yes. You are really slipping. I would just jack it in if I had as little talent as you.

Seriously, I can hardly bring myself to look upon it.

Really, though, if the model looked any better my brain would likely explode. Good to have you back.

    Welcome back.

If I could only produce half that quality I'd die a happy man...

Thank you to your friends for prodding you back in, and thank you as ever for sharing...

Nice! Really nice to see you back!

Looking really good so far. Love the skintone of your elves. Looking really sinister and also looks good with the colours of the fabrics and metals.

(and as i discovered your blog here when you had already quit i want to add that the mirroring on the shield of your sigwald is the best painting i have ever seen)

    Brilliant, as usual

And to echo some of the other comments here, buy your friends a beer (or 5!) for getting you motivated again, cause your work is simply amazing!

Honestly GeOrc, if I had a tenth of the mad skillz you have in your little finger, I'd die a happy man ...

Your works are of a better quality than most of the offerings from the fabled 'Eavy Metal team of GW themselves

    Beautiful work as ever...

My only comment would be that the shading on her face seems a little too harsh... a bit dark especially around the base of the cheek bones?

Minor point, but when something is THIS good....

    Re: Diary of a workbench

I think that might be the effect he's going for, my canine friend. I notice his shading is similarly stark on the crown, under the arms, and on the robe. I rather like it, as it gives the model the appearance of being in a dark room with a single light overhead. Creepy cool.

I see what you mean, but for me the cheeks are still alittle too stark...

I'm prepared to be in the minority though. It is still a magnificent piece of work, that I'd be delighted if I could paint half as good...

Incredible blending on the skin - you even managed to maintain your own extremely high standards in the tiny little areas between the metal 'bra', unbelievable!

Really looking forward to seeing this mini progress, and as previously stated, welcome back
