I've just picked up a few Hasselfree minis, and was disappointed to see how skinny they are compared to Citadel minatures.

How do they blend in to squads as a whole (is the size difference noticable) - would be really interested in Conscript pics.

Great work so far, and I hope Warseer is still going when you get around to finishing

The difference is one of scale. Hasslefree is accurate 28mm, with figures varying in height and size realistically, which, next to GW's 'heroically' proportioned 30mm soldiers, can sometimes look skinny. Personally, I don't care, and when used next to the metal Guard ranges (e.g. Mordians, old Cadians, or even the DKoK), they look fine. Indeed, next to Space Marines, they look even better than most Guard models!

In sum, then, the size difference is barely noticeable and, where it is, merely adds a touch of realism - not everyone is 6' tall exactly, like the GW models are.

Re: "Commissar! The General's Gone Insane!" - 16 Guard Armies

    An Update!

First of all, some more detailed pictures of my plasma-gun toting beret Stormtrooper for my 2nd Edition army:

Note that you can make out the camo pattern better - it's just Vermin Brown and Camo Green over Catachan Green, but looks dead effective IMO.

Next, 1/3 of my sniper squad - the best shots from each regiment in the 5/AR. Featured here are 'Deadeye' Lindsey from the 53rd Skye's World and 'Killer' Rajapaske from the 7th Chindit:

Still to come: their spotters, and the team from the Bhoorman Regiment. Note my godawful painting skills from when I was 15 (some 7-8 years ago now)!

And last, but not least, for this post, the first 5 members of the 2/53 Skye's World (aka 53rd Platoon, 5AR):

Note that so far, only the piper is being painted up as a 53rd Platoon Highlander, the rest are in the colours of a) an old friend of mine's bizzare desert camo ("Can I paint these models please?" "Ok, just do them in temperate gear." "Desert it is then!") and b) the 6-strong Veterans squad that I had for my lol-tastic 400pt Hydra-based Combat Patrol.

The female Tanith model is currently fully painted up as a Necromunda Hired Gun (pics next post) so she needs replacing. I've been inspired by Odmiller's Ghosts' log to get cracking and not be put off by the all-metal and very limited range of availiable Ghosts models - a full 1,500 point army of these figures will be completed, and (luckily) I only have to convert two of them to be LP/CCW toting Sergeants for the 5AR. Otherwise, the entire force will be lasrifle wielding at minimum.

    Surprise Drokharan Taureg Officer:

This bloke is going to be an optional Platoon/Company Commander for my Drokharan Tauregs. I got him (and another version of the same model, but without the bad paintjob and with his curved knife and bolter intact) free in an eBay order I made a while ago. His knife was badly hacked away and his bolter had been replaced with a lasgun, so I replaced that with a plastic shotgun from the Goliaths you got in the Necromunda box, and his knife is now a Cadian one. Looks a bit out of place but for the moment it's a placeholder. I may GS a new bit to his sash.

And now back to the 5AR:

L-R: 7th Chindit GL, Flamer, Major Marquand (59th Bhoorman), Colonel Singh (7th Chindit), 7th Flamer, 7th Melta.

And finally, the Necromunda ex-PDF turned Mercenary, Tough Tina:

Most of these models were bought years ago when I could sponge off my parents

    Update:

First of all, some other 2nd Edition army models...

Oh no! A giant hand! Courtesy of my wife.

Here we go, from Strike Force Sixtus:

Sgt, 2 Squad, Captain Sixtus (new) and Captain Sixtus (original). Note how much of an improvement I've made since I was 10 (12 years ago)!

And to show the coherency of bases:

Now for detail shots of the (finally) finished Stormtrooper:

    Update:

Tank Crew, Leman Russ 132, Rigellian 7th Armoured Regiment, now part of 53rd Platoon, 5 AR:

Still to come, the commander (when I eventually get my hands on him - if anyone has the bolt-pistol wielding, heavily bandaged, tank officer from the Last Chancers set that they want to donate... ).

Thoughts? Comments? Criticism? I've noticed a few things I want to improve on them (helments, weapons mainly).

Nice, Jealous that you have the old plastic storm troopers. I've been after a squad of them myself.

As this is the 'Master' list, which will be chopped up to make everything from 400 point Combat Patrols to the full force, I'm going to add another 500 points' worth of stuff to make it Apocalypse ready. Thoughts and ideas? I'm thinking medics, Stormtroopers/Marbo, more Ogryns and Ratlings, Commissar(s)... that sort of thing. A Priest or two maybe, and/or a Techpriest?

    EDIT:

I've brought it up to 3,000 by adding:

    Astropath to the Regimental Command.
Master of Ordnance to the Battalion Command.
Two Priests (one with Eviscerator, one with shotgun).
A Techpriest with four Servo-arm servitors.
    'Master Scout' (aka Marbo).
A Commissar to each Platoon's 1st Squad (one with PP/CCW, one with BP/PW, one with BP/CCW).
And I think that was it...
