My Hive Fleet ... almost ready (PIC HEAVY)

Hi ppl!

I started collecting a 1500 point Tyranid list a few years ago but then Lizardmen came in between and the bugs got shelved for quite some time. About 3 months back (being out of warhammer altogether for about a year) i decided to give them another go and started painting again. Now all that is left to do is this:

- do the bases of everything
- paint newly placed venom cannon on Fex
- assemble and paint my flyrant

I thought it would be nice to start this topic and post a few pictures of every unit i finish, until the whole army is done.

This is the list I've been painting:

Yesterday I started and finished the Termagaunts bases, so here are the pictures of those. Today the Genestealers and broodlord are up for basing.

Hope you like them. The idea was to relatively quickly paint this army so it isnt painted to the highest of my standards but it is nice enough to admire and play with.

Chaos Black undercoat

Skin:
Bubonic Brown Drybrush
Brown Ink Wash (70 ink/30 water appr)
Bleached Bone "Highlighting"

Scales:
Scab Red
Blood Red Highlights
Red Ink Wash (80 ink/20 water appr)

The red ink really finishes it of IMO, that is for me the difference between 'mwuah nice' and 'wow cool'.

The bases are just gravelled, made black, then codex grey, shadow grey, skull white highlights, and then static grass.

The genestealers are looking imense. I have a good feeling for the monsters Are you planning anything big for Apoc, or is this just a standard army?

Yeah boy! Consider me subscribed. I generally hate nids but this looks pretty cool

This is just my standard 1500p army. Apoc is a bit too crazy for me i just want to wrap up this army and start a 1000p death guard army. After that I will expand this army further, you can never have enough warriors I love em!

you should paint ur nids, it makes the whole gaming experience a lot more fun

1. a Olympus SP-510uz but the "u" could also be a "v"
2. I had two big wooden boards lying around, one as floorboard and one as background.

Very nice Leapers SteelTitan, very dynamic poses and nice bases.

One thing I can't really make out on the pictures it the spear-thing on the base in the middle. Is it stuck in the claw of the warrior or just a strange ancle? And what is it? Some kind of defence or barricade?

I like your painting. One thing wou could maybe improve is the carapace colouring. The black and red could get a little smoother border, maybe with thin vertical lines of black or some darker red...

the warrior in the middle indeed has a spear through its claw. It is supposed to be a part of some primative defensive barrier which the warrior wants to cross...not without consequences as you can see just me trying to be creative

on the carapaces: yes in the pictures it indeed seems that it is just black and blood red but i also used scab red as an intermediate colour, which cant really be seen on the picture but isnt really too clear in reality neither (because of red ink mainly), so you are right on that one.

Hopefully i will get the hormagaunts on here as well today.

Zoanthropes & Lictor:










I personally think that the zoans and the lictor are my best painted Nid models so far, while also being my latest. Now all that is left is paint the newly placed Venom Cannon on my Fex (after which I will post pictures of him (previous edition Fex). And then for quite a big project, namely the flying tyrant (norma tyrant + dragon wings).

I will post pictures of him, also WIP pictures.

Those are looking really cool. The colour scheme really ties them all in together, some Nid armies look like 5 different hive fleets

Can we have a group shot of everything you've done so far? I reckon that would be pretty cool.
