Back in green! – Glenning’s Ork log

With the new codex and new minis out I decided to return to my first love – the good old Orks!

First off, da boss himself! He’s 99% finished, I need to get him a nice bosspole, and I might repaint his powerclaw, the blades look rather messy now.

The runtherd and his grotz so far.

I’ve never really liked the runtherd/slaver model so I converted my own. And I think my version looks way better, I’m sure no grot
would even think of fleeing with this badass behind him.

I got this Dread back in ’99 I think, and since then it’s been collecting dust in my bitz box and it had a hideous paintjob(hey, I was only 11 back then), But now it’s stripped and ready for a new paintjob! Some parts were missing so I had to order some bitz. Anyway, it’ll be finished soon.

The pics aren't the best, I'll take some new ones when the lighting outside is better.

And I’m waiting for my Battleforce to arrive, and when it does you will see some boyz, bikerz and a trukk! So stay tuned, oh and; WAAAGH!!!

If the dread will get the same kickarse/weathered paintscheme as your warboss and as characterful/badarse as the slaver, please hurry up and paint that badboy. Oh and you definately need bomb-squigs! Nothing motivates grots like bomb-squigs in their midst.

Very cool Warboss! The weathering looks very good. I really like the black chipped armor, it looks more hardcore than the brightly colored orks.

Re: Back in green! – Glenning’s Ork log

Thanks for the feedback! All of my Orks are going to wear heavily chipped armor, gear and weapons, so they look war-weary and like they've been fighting for a long time. I will test some blue warpaint on the boyz and see if it suits them, hopefully it does.

I've been working on two bases tonight, for my dread, should I use the one with the skull or the one with the helmet on the ground?

I prefer the one with the helmet. They both look good, but I think the helmet fits better with the dead guardsman and your gritty realistic theme. Skulls always seem a little over the top (especially in Warhammer).

Ok! I'll go with the helmet.

Man, I really hope my bitz arrive this week so I can start with my dread!

    Looks like a great start!

You running Goffs or something, even so the black scheme really do work (and I`m no fan of black colour schemes)

Can you give a rough summary of what you`re making for you boyz?

    Looking forward on seeing more!

I haven't really begun working on an armylist yet, being more a painter than a gamer, it's not my top priority.

Anyway, I'm in the process of painting some boyz as we speak(from bitz I had lying around), pics tomorrow!

Nice! I love the dead guardsman. What are you using for your wash?

Thanks! For the washes I just use watered down chaos black mixed with a little bestial brown.

And here are the first boyz! I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out, and this is how the core of my army will look:

Nice, I'm liking them and will have to keep an eye on this. Hope to be starting my own little log soon too.

That is a very nice paint job on the boyz, do you have any of the other troop types to show us?

    @Astraeos:

This is all I have for now, I haven't bought any of the new kits yet so I made these boyz out of some old parts I had. I've ordered the battleforce, but it's released the 26th, so hopefully I'll get it by then. But if I know myself, I will most likely buy one or two of the new kits before I get the battleforce...

But as soon as I get the bitz I'm missing for my dread, you will see some new stuff, so you don't have to wait to the 26th!

Here's some WIP shots of the dread, it's 95% finished as I haven't got those damn bitz yet!
I'm pretty pleased with it so far, and I think it will look great once I've added the bosspole, glyphs, some trophies and other accessories...
