Welcome to Huxlow - An IG project log

Magi Biologis Melchior wallked slowly towards the heavy doors keeping the chamber beyond tightly locked.
He took a deep breath before he put his right hand against the door.
His artificial hearing senses couldn't betray him...

He turned towards the Tech priest waiting for him and said:
"So our work has been succesful at last."
"Indeed it has been and it justifies every sacrifice we have willingly taken so far." Ultir the tech-priest answered.

    Melchior eyed his friend warily:
"Still... we need to do more research."
Ultir raised his rotten flesh to reveal a diabolic grin.

    Welcome to Huxlow soldier!

This industrial world was conquered during the Damocles Gulf campaign and has been named in honour to the Lord General Militant.
If you live on this world you will never see the sun for it lies under a constant cloud of smog.
Many diseases trouble the whole population and I won't even mention how the enviroment looks like.
Acid rain which can corrode unprotected metal in an instant and boiling seas.
Sometimes the smog over the hives is so thick you can barely see your own hands.
But that are matters of the past.
Most Hives now have protective shields and huge air filters to ensure that Imperial citizens can work for the Emperor. The nobility of Huxlow lives in cleaned districts with green gardens and the best air filter the tech priests can create.

This is the project log of the XI Huxlow.

    (Sorry for any misspelling.)

Very nice start! I love the black armour, pale flesh and biohazard symbols. I would say that the green fatigues seem out of place, but they're damn well-painted.

looking good although i think the green pants look odd i think u should do em a dark red it would go with the brown nicely and also dont do codex grey drybrush on the base because it is to much like the models black with the highlight, instead do it like scorched brown drybrushed bleached bone, with some static grass, this should make the model stand out more

No way Dark Green is perfect. Reminds me of how US GI's used to wear khaki jackets with green pants. Looks good as is.

I think for me the jacket, the leathery... brown, is slightly too 'intense' in its colour. Maybe if you layer on the section, rather than inking it, it would look subdued. I know, inking is faster, but... I donno, that's my two cents.

I also think the green is weird. Red pants would look amazing though.

    i love the green.
The faces are fantastic so characterful the one far right even looks as though he has a broken nose

some very nice work, especially the biohazard symbols and some cool fluff too
my 2 cents- don't ink the brown on the jacket, i think if ou did it with the same technique that you use on the pants it would look a lot better. It is probably just the camera but it looks too shiny to me as it is. You could try making the bases ash wastes, as i think it would work with the fluff that you have for them. That might help the armour stand stand out a little more.

Thank you for your kind replies.
The camera adds a little bit to the shinyness (had to use the LZ-Synchro flash due to bad weather).
But today I will try both the ash waste theme on the bases and second layering the jacket.
I am afraid you won't see any red trousers though.

Really nice guardsmen. The green doesn't look too bad into my eyes. PLZ make more.

But only almost and this is intended.

You and your red fatigues... it is your fault I will submit new pics later.

To keep you entertained I will post some pics of my old IG army that will be redone after this project.
I painted and bought them during the Armageddon campaign.
My Grenadiers (Kasrkin models) will look pretty much the same (if I don't get into your red fatigues thing).

First photo taken with flash second without.

This Log looks very promising. You have a nice background, paintscheme and army badge. I'm looking foward to more work

The pants on the STs look slightly weird but the biohazard stuff and the guardsmen in general look kick ass.

    I demand more fluff!

    New Guardsmen are nearly finisished.
    On another note:
    The jackets:
They are intended to look like leather jackets which are to protect from hazardous environment. On them is an oily film to protect the leather from water based liquids.
That is why it is shining. I wanted to achieve the look of suits they wear in the Silent Hill movie for those who know it.

I will further try around and upload new pics as soon as they are finished.

Re: Welcome to Huxlow - An IG project log

    Here are some WIP shots.
I don't think that I will do much this week as exams are nearing.
    But here you go.

(BTW: more Fluff goes with completed Miniatures but thanks for your positive response for the little bit I have wrote.)

I painted the fatigues red this time and tried a different approach on the jacket.
The white dot on it is due to the flash.
As you my also notice I already started to paint the base differently. I will go for scorched brown - bleached bone - rubble and something look.

I really like the jacket now. Even more than my first one but on the red....
I think this sergeant will be the first and the last one with it.

The jacket looks much better on this attempt. I agree with you, go back to the green and keep up the good work!

Its the camo style used by the australian military, uses similar colors as you did on the camo parts of the stormies.
