The chipping on the 'Atlas' & the Sentinels was all just brush work. Splodges of dark brown, with a thin key-line of sand colour underneath, and another of black across the top. Hopefully makes it look slightly 3-D'ish.
Next IG tank I get I'll do a step-by-step.

This is another lump of tank that has been languishing in a box is too long.
An ex-marine Landraider, refitted and in the process of repainting for the Ad Mech.
Thought I'd try something different with this, so had a go at applying the chipping with a sponge. First thoughts were do something that looked shiny and well cared for, however I don't seem to be able to make things look clean so it will end up as beat-up Ad Mech. Sort of fits in with the Ramshakle games blokes who hopefully will get finished off as well:

Cheers mate. I have no idea how to highlight the red without it looking washed out, so I can see a lot of dirty shading heading it's way . . .

Some simple edge highlighting goes a long way, and also helps define the shape of the vehicle And then a lot of dirty shading could be added as well

It's going to pretty much match the others, but I want this one to look a bit shot up, so I'm thinking of having a go at hairspray rust effect/chipping . . . See what happens.

Cool, I look forwards to seeing that. I did a Hellhammer with that method. I think it requires some patience because I didnt turn out the way I would have liked. But the tank is still very much in the WIP stages.

Still building . . . the kit was a half done eBay rescue, so in need of a stripping back down to parts, lots of glue removal, lots of cutting, filling, sanding etc etc

Got a couple of parts en route, so wont be chucking paint at it for a while.
