    Inquisitorial File 66VI: Emperor's Children

One of my resolutions is to finish my Emperor's Children army to a decent standard, varnish them and have them ready for gaming! This log is designed to make me keep up with finishing the army.

Some parts of this army are very old and need a facelift, while others are new. First up, my most recent aquisitions, my raptors and terminators. I've already got possessed converted up, and with the new rules being somewhat less than exciting, I didn't see much potential for the new possessed models - until I realised they would make a rather good basis for Slaaneshi raptors (looking at this forum, I'm not the only one with that idea!). I just used the possessed sprues and some bits and pieces I had lying around in my bits box - the shields were something of an impulse addition as I found some baggies full of shields (destined for a Fantasy project I never started).

Re: Inquisitorial File 66VI: Emperor's Children

The Terminators have been something new also since the Codex was redone. I decided to go for the combi-plasma approach - this squad can pump out 12 S7 shots after deepstriking! Some fairly serious conversion work for this squad to make them more dynamic (I don't understand why the Chaos Terminators, resculpted entirely in plastic, are still just about as static looking as the old models!)

To make them more disctinctively Slaaneshi, I built the speakers from the doom siren backpack into the suits instead of trophy racks and used the EC power armour helmet on all of them (it kind of looks like the helmet on the very first terminator models) and put the EC legion symbol on their right shoulders.

The Defiler is something I started a LONG time ago and never finished. Ithink he's going to have a bit more conversion work (going to change the position of some of the legs to make him look less static!) and the face could do with a bit more work.

Edit... hmm, not a great angle, that picture now that I look at it - you can't see the tail at all. I'll take some more pictures later.

Awesome models! I particularly like the work you've done on the Terminators. I'll be following this indeed.

Crap, that would be because I used geocities to host the pictures. They'll come back when I've not exceeded my data transfer limit for the hour. I'll try to find somewhere else to host the pictures...

Edit... okay, now it's linked to photobucket. Better?

A sculpting tool. Just a spikey bit of metal really, like a flattened tooth pick. I'll take a photo of my favourite sculpting tool next time I take a photo of a model to show you if you like.

EDIT: How appropriate that my 666th post should be in this thread...

    Cheers,

well... not thrilled about the scorpion/defiler but those terminators and specially the one bearing the reaper autocannon are gorgeous, great dynamic poses there.

Great work on the Raptors and Terminators, they are looking awesome. Not too keen on the defiler. Maybe if you put one of the defiler masks over top of the head. But then again, it might look better painted

Love the conversion work! Looking forward to see how they turn out.

Really like the conversion work so far. I am looking for ward to seeing them with some paint on them.

Paint will come soon (I've got them basecoated by now), but updates might be somewhat patchy here!

I'm determined that the defiler will look good, and I'm not too happy with the head as it is. I think what I'll do is remove the mouth and add in a typical noise marine speaker-type arrangement, and I might bring the head down and forward a bit.

    Update...

So I've managed to get some paint on my terminators. I've only finished one so far, so I thought I'd share him at least.

Great posing and great painting. Will all of the emperor's children you paint be pink? Or will you mix it up with some purples or something?

Re: Inquisitorial File 66VI: Emperor's Children

I've not got anything more fully painted, but I've done a little more GS work on some of these guys, finishing off the back of the standard/heavy guy and also removing one of those annoying Black Legion symbols from the shoulderpad... Neither is very clear, I'll try to get some better pictures when they're painted...

I'll be using purple to some degree (the banner as you can see is going to be purple-based) but no, by and large they're all going to be that horrible bubble-gum pink... Shock and awe by colourscheme...

That said, I've discovered a much nicer purpley-pink that would have been better as the basic colour for the army - but I'm far too committed to the bubblegum-pink to change it now.

That said, I'll probably be using that colour for any centerpiece models and for my daemons. Here's a WIP of my Keeper of Secrets (currently on the back-burner as I don't find her much use in my army these days). I'm going to avoid posting WIP of models that I'm not actively working on, so that I've got the incentive of posting photos to keep me finishing one project before starting the next, but I'll make an exception in this case... Anyway, you can see that other purple-pink colour on the claws (chipped as they are from gaming with her! She certainly needs some TLC...)
