A gift to make to a very special friend!

    Hi guys, Hi girls! C:

This very good friend of mine who I've known about for a year, sent me and my friends surprise gifts long time ago. I got two keyrings, Totoro keyrings because I just love that furry bastard. (And she knows it, I didn't remember and I was like: "Awww hell yeahs X3!", when I opened the letter.) My other friends got keyrings as well, and a manga novel. Now it's been some time, and I feel like sending something back to her! I came up with an idea at first, she loves hot chocolate (or so it seems :3) So I rampaged through my bits box, and found a dwarf mug, just perfect! Second thing I wanted to add was a plume of a sort, again checked my bits and found a fitting piece. Also, she's such of an angel, and next thing I remember was that bloody hell, I have some leftover wings from Sanguine Guards that I used for my Blood Angels' Captain and Chaplain, didn't really like the guards themselves, lol. I had a conversation with my bro and I noticed that I have a crossbow, and you could imagine the lightbulb upon my head, as I realized that I could make a 'Space Amour'! He has wings, the chapter icon will be a heart, He'll be pink as well! (Along with the hot chocolate and other things I thought that would be fancy to add, Tee hee!) I'm not so sure about the pose of Amour itself, thought about the crossbow in other hand and a mug in other, book hanging from somewhere, or then he's holding the book and blablablabla otherwise.

So let's get started! I need a background story for the character and I would like You to help me with that! Pictures? Following soon! Current stage is in bits, laying on my desk. Thank goodness that the weekend is here soon! (But because I'm a student, I don't have much time for this, and I sure could use some better paints than the crappy GW paints whatchamacallem. Thought about Vallejo earlier...

    Also!

Everyone, who has a story of a model they gave/sent to somebody special, feel free to pass on your tales!

*A pic of the Captain*, apologies for the bad picture but I can't afford a better camera. Amour is going to be similar-ish C:

I'll see you soon fellas, Cheers! -^_^-

    Hellu thar!

Some progress has been made, I converted this handsome devil: *The picture is bad*

A little about how I'm going to proceed: Okay, the model has loads of details and touches I added to it/thought of adding. The crossbow had a scope but then I noticed that it looked dumb so I removed it. The miniature is going to get painted pink, with touches of red, a lot of white, and gold! Haven't decided the color of the eyes, maybe blue? The purity seals on his right foot are going to get painted the same color as the eyes, that's for sure. I'll glue the wings later on, because they would be just in way while I paint the model. The character needs a background story as well, which I mentioned earlier. He could be chapter master of the Love Marines or such (sounds ridiculous, I know.) I would love to have feedback, tell me what you're thinking, what could I still add, what could be fixed etc... Also! What you can't see, is that I put a storm shield on the back of his backpack! Most of the cool stuff is hanging from his backpack and I know the model looks unstable on that base, but the base has a small metal disc glued underneath to give extra support for it.

A quick post, grammar might be bad too.

    Cheers, mates.

Lookin' good there mate, keep it coming! I'd love to see the backpack, I'm curious where the wings are going to be. The only slight criticism at this point is that the mug hand doesn't look quite as I thought it was going to be, I imagined that it'd be more bent outwards. At the moment it looks like he's trying to hug the mug

But nothing to worry, I'm sure it'll be just fine when I can see some other angles of the "Amour".

    Cheers,
    Goatee

How about checking out this random cavalcade?

I'm crazy and I'm Finnish. Don't blame me, it's the polar bears!

You may notice that I removed the... two pods whatchamacall'em, from the backpack. They were in the way of the wings so I thought it would be better to remove them. Intending to paint some freehand hearts on them Speaking of the wings, I have washed them with Leviathan Purple Wash. I think they will look awesome when I touch each of the 'feathers' with the new white I'm gonna get!

I'll think of fixing it but we'll see. I kinda like it, but this thing is going to fly a long distance to a friend so I better think it from her point of view more than my own, so I'll consider it

I'll take some pics when I've finished with the painting. Just as a side note to everyone else, Mr. Goatee ordered me some Vallejo paints. (Thanks bro!)

Cheers mates. All I want now would be more feedback :P

@ TheConverter15: Yeah, I am kinda back, thank you.

    Update! So I visited goatee some time ago and bought a pack of Sanguies and I had a clear vision in my head. Since there are 4 of us who are her friends, I thought about making us for stand with the grand Amor or something. I've already painted the legs of each and as always, little work needed to be done on them;

I've basecoated the bodies with the jump packs attached, I will tell about the characteristics later on, along with pictures. Also, these Vallejo paints rock!

    Cheers

Re: A gift to make to a very special friend!

    All right, I'll share.

My cousin's daughter turned 20 last spring and my mother (who has been on the recieving end of painted models before), asked if I couldn't do something for Lisa. She's really into Live Roleplaying, so a Fantasy model wouldn't look all that odd. I looked at photos of her in various LARP-kit and decided on which one to copy from. As she's not really elfy-looking (she actually has hips, you know), I based the model on a Sister of Sigmar Novice. With an added High Elf Dragon prince sword, the model looked quite similar to her.

The paint job was quite straight forward, and had to be done with all due speed as my mother came up with the idea a week before the birthday and the model had to be sent by mail. Anyways, I was very pleased. It even arrived in time for the birthday party! My cousin said she thought it was a great idea.

"I must say, I've fallen in love with the musical genre. It's the art form of the common man. If you want to communicate
something with the proletariat, cover it in sequins and make it sing. It's noisy, vulgar and utterly meaningless. I love it."
