Im reading your thread for the last 4 hours and Im blown away by your skill, your look for details and composition. Absolutely fascinating! This thread is the reason why I get myself an account on Warseer...

And I have a single question, dont want to take too much of youre precious airbrush-time What varnish do you use?

Do you know how hard that is to do with a protective mask on? You can't see down since the filter gets in the way. Then add bulky protective clothing, gloves...heck, if you need a mask then maybe that's an important part of the anatomy you don't want to expose to the environment.
    Your choice. Depends.

Am i the only one who notices new details everytime he looks again at the Centaur? I like the sensor equipment, scissor binoculars/range finder, how the right rear fender is accessorized.

    Great stuff.

Re: “DEATH’S HEAD” - 3rd Krieg Tank Division - Titan Hunter Detachment

Woa.. ten pages since I last bestowed my eyes on this thread.. -I seriously need to keep myself updated!-

Anyhow, the "Slaughterer" is absolutely breathtaking.. the slogan "Have gun will travel" on its right side made me chuckle a bit. For not to speak of the Commissar, who stand confidently on top of the Neutron Laser Projector, which, in my honest oppinion, reminds me of Oddball in Kelly's Heroes.

As always, Bungaroo, It is a privilege to lay eyes upon your collection of lovingly modelled and painted tanks, and it saddens me that those will never see the intense tabletop battle of warhammer 40.000..

    Cheers, FI

Re: “DEATH’S HEAD” - 3rd Krieg Tank Division - Titan Hunter Detachment

Sorry there have been no posts for a while.

BeatTheBeat: Will have to wait a bit for the Bobcat as I'm off for 2 months to USA.

Brother Alexos: It does look a bit like that but it wasn't planned!

Hinterwaeldler: Welcome to the log. I use a railway modellers matt varnish. "Polly Scale Flat" Code F404106. Just Googled it and came up with this. Not where I got mine but it shows you the pot.

    Poly Scale Flat

I water it down using my Tamiya thinners as usual then airbrush it on.

FerrumIgnatus: I love Oddball in Kelly's Heroes. Fits the bill perfectly!

    On with the Log:

I am preparing to go to the USA again and have been converting the last figs for painting.

I have mentioned that I am doing a Commisar General, in fact you have seen the simple conversion earlier in the log.

Well before I depart for California and Vegas for 2 months, here are the pre-paint conversions for the Commisar General Vignette to cap off my army.

The whole idea of the vignette was conceived because I had the FW show mounted Commisar and wanted something good to show him off.

Here is said model with only a hand swop and a lance cup on the stirrup. He will be the Aide de camp to the General and will carry the Generals pennant.

This is the General himslf with his trusty steed.

The mount was a fair bit of converting. Cut the dude off his back. remoulded the saddle and added some blankets. Stirrups were the mose fiddley bits. I did the wool saddle blanket like the officer from my death riders to tie him to the rest of the army. I wanted the reins to be different as well so cut them off and remodeled them. I also decided to do all the mounts in the command group with the skull on the horses head plate.

Next is the General's Master Vox.

Same deal with the mount. Notice I chopped the horses ear off by mistake and had to remould another one !! I had to be careful when I cut the rider off the horse because I needed the sheathed sword for the dismounted Vox. Also you will see that I have moulded riding boots on the Vox. I also changed his standard helmet for a Death Rider helmet.

Re: “DEATH’S HEAD” - 3rd Krieg Tank Division - Titan Hunter Detachment

Here are the 2 figures together

Here is the Ridemaster escort. He will have a lance.

Notice his mount has an exposed bionic leg.

And here are the 4 figures together.

And finally, the Commissar General has his 2 hounds.

Hope you like. I will obviously mount the whole set on a base once I get them home from USA painted.

I will try some updates when I am away but if not I will post again in November.

    Later

dont know if you plan on doing so Bung, but i think a really cool addition/tie in to make the General's hounds fit in would be to either give them Krieg style gasmasks as well(kinda corny, but its 40k :P ) or, give them bionic rebreather units or something similar built into their throats, just a thought that i figured might pique your interest

Looking great as ever Bung, the mechanic leg of the Death Rider mount is a nice touch.
And about the hound-gasmasks, I think the heads of those two little models are the best parts of them, so it would be a shame to waste them. Though you could go for the Helghast look..

No masks for the dogs. Let them be canaries.

    Where is the General's mask?

A third vote for no masks. I think it would make them look far to corny to fit with the rest of the army, plus the idea of using them as canaries appeals to my hatred of domesticated canines.

maybe the general should be holding his mask in a similar fashion to the bad-ass marine leader from avatar.
dogs need masks of some sort or otherwise they will stick out. sure that you want them to be organic dogs and not some cyber mastiffs?

    Bungaroo,

Have you been kidnapped? Did you defect to the US? (We'd be happy to have you!) And most importantly, did you ever finish the Bobcat???
