    Re: Tommygun's Backwater Forgeworld

    Mortar Gun is now done.
I decided not to make a gun shield for it, as it would hide the details too much.
I added rifling and a round in the chamber, though it may be hard to see.
While making these guns, I had to limit some detail to make them more cast-able and strong enough to withstand the rigors of gaming.
Any thoughts or criticisms on these guns or the roller?

Couple of bracing bands around the outside of the mortar barrel perhaps. The tube itself is a bit plain, and while it's realistically correct, it's just not junkyardy/orky/slapdash looking.

    Hi there Tommygun..

These look great.. I would agree with faolan though, a bracing strip around the main mortar barrel would look great.. its very plain looking at the moment.. needs something to prevent the barrel bursting due to the strain..

mmmm thats a point.. perhaps you could model a burst barrel as an optional extra?

    Fantastic model skills you show..

    Continue the great work,

    Best wishes,

Like your rifling a lot, how did you do that ?
Looks like youve cut up a tube and then "cut" it in separate pieces ?!

    Endresult looks great !!

Wow, that's really cool! I like the T&E mechanism - or the parts I can see, anyway. Do the trails move, or are they fixed? I'd love to see the mortar towed behind an Sd.Kfz... I mean, ummm... battlewagon.

    Re: Tommygun's Backwater Forgeworld

I was worried that without a gun shield it might not be rough enough.
Maybe I could wrap wire around the barrel like bailing wire for bracing. A burst barrel would mean more molds.

To answer some of the questions:

-Warlord Nazgred, The guns would be used as heavy support.

-SSG Snuffy, Yes it is tow-able like the others.

-SDKFZ, I used Evergreen's "Board and batten" sheeting.
Basically you cut a pieces off and roll it up and insert it into the hollow tube.
You should cut it at a 15 degree angle relative to the lines of the sheeting.
This gives the illusion the the rifling is spiraling down the barrel.
I then stuffed a small wooden ball up the back of the barrel for the mortar round.

Next up: a flack cannon and a rotatory cannon for Faolan's Leman Russes.

    "By your command"
OK, wolf boy here it is.
Will this GAU 8 work for you?
I'll send it out to be cast with the cannons.
We can put it in the web store too if the other Tom wants it.
I'm thinking the flame will look better painted up in multiple colors.

As soon as our potential web designer finishes up his current project.

You know how they are, they're never fully tamed, and are skittish creatures in their natural environment.

TG, looks great, but isn't it a bit long?

    Re: Tommygun's Backwater Forgeworld

Here are some test figures for a guard army I'm working on.
As you can see I removed details from the helmets and body armor.
I also modified their guns. I'm planing on a few flat top models as well.
I have added knee pads made of green stuff since taking these pictures.
They will be painted in tan. I'm not sure of a name yet.
    Maybe Cadian 3rd Inf Div.
It may be hard to see, but I used the lower half of a space marine's arm on the commander.
I wanted it to be a power fist, but it looks more like a bionic arm.
I'll just have to build a power fist on top of it with plasticard.

    Re: Tommygun's Backwater Forgeworld

I like the additions to the helmets, not so sure about the M-16 Lasgun though. Then again, I am partial to the "Tommygun" style Lasgun I whipped up one day, and the Elysian weapons.

Still, if it's what you like, more power to ya.

I've got a few ideas for bionic/power fists, etc, I'll try to get you some pictures and see what strikes your fancy.

Everything is amazing as always mate, the "modern" IG really strike a chord with me, and i like the understated PF, it could do with being alittle bit bigger, but not much.

The mortar looks much better with the bands added.

Personally, I liked the 'Vanquisher-length' Gatling gun over the shorter version, but I'll reiterate my earlier statement: I'd buy one (of either length).

Looks great, the mortar banding really adds to it.
Not too certain yet about the IG though, guess I'll just have to wait and see with those. I do love the world war two feel to the helmets though
