    Thanks for looking and commenting!

After my successful scratchbuild of some droppods (http://warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127299), I have been inspired to convert a larger version of the Landraider to house my WIP Command squad for my Ultramarine army. Both the land raider and command squad will be posted in this thread over the coming months.

In the photos, the larger raider is obviously the one on the left, although the one of the right is also undergoing rennovating, the classic Ultramarine commander is shown for scale.

The main chassis has been hacked in two and enlarged to house new artboard and cities of death building components. The lascannon sponsons are scratch built from plasticard and are of the old-school sponson variety as I see this vehicle as an old relic from the Golden days when the Emporer was still alive.

I plan to make the door so that they can swing open (but have yet to realise how....suggestions would be welcome)

Only suggestion so far is that the true-scale sponsons look like they could have bigger Lascannons.

    Otherwise, it's looking good.

Wow! Went for a bathroom break and so many people have replied.

Thanks for your comments so far.

I agree with starlight that the lascannons look a little small (althought the landraider is not intended to be truescale, just a larger kick-a** chassis version). However after a quick glance at the forgeworld website and their old-school sponsons, I think that the problem may be that the lascannon barrels are too close together since I took them off of some (now rather annoyed) Dreadnoughts. So me thinks I will try to re-model them so that they are slightly further apart.

Synapse: It was your amazing truescale work that inspired me to do mine (in fact I think I said that somewhere in your World Eaters thread). Except that since I didn't fancy building a whole army and a random squad in truescale would look a little odd, therefore a command squad seemed like the best solution.

I will pull together some sort of fluff for the command squad at a later date.

Don't worry about the weaponsizes, GW tends to make their weapons way too large anyways!

    Hello there, here's an update:

    1. This is the reworked twin linked lascannon sponson, as you can see I've increased the gap between the barrels and filled it in with square pasti-rod.

    2. Heavy Bolter turret, sticking with guns I've put together the Turret, I will add a protective wall around it later.

Re: Enlarged Landraider to carry my 'truescale' Command squad into battle!

    Continued from above........

    3. I have found hindges from a local model shop which means that the doors can now open and close, however that does mean that the interior has to be finished so this is what the interior looks like so far.

    4. This shot is of the Landraider from behind, nothing exciting just patched up the gaps with board

    5. For those who are curious this is what the hinges look like. Tha company name is Kavan, a German company who make fine models accessories, the website looks to be, Kavan

Re: Enlarged Landraider to carry my 'truescale' Command squad into battle!

Sorry for the triple post, this is the last lot for now.

    6. A shot of the roof. I have added lights which are cut from the Cities of death skirting peices.

    7. A final image to show how the tank looks at the moment.

Still to add is a storm bolter on the roof, interior detal, and rear doors.

    Have a good week everybody!

I'm diggin' the pulpit thing on top. If you wanted to be really awesome you would leave off the sponsons and just put four lascannon devastators up there instead.

I've had to redo the landraider main doors and been picking up bits and bobs from my bits box for the raider's interior.

I have also begun on the truescale command squad which will total ten men.

Here is the WIP veteran in an action pose, and a scale shot against a classic Ultramarine captain.

Thats a decent sized SM. Some people end up doing 'truescale' marines massively oversized, but that looks just right.

    My thoughts exactly.

Its damn near perfect; it suits the image in my head of a Land Raider *extremely* well.
I'm going to take a break from Warseer for a bit to deal with my bipolar, which is acting up ferociously lately. Please accept my apologies for any insult or offense I may have caused - though I feel my sentiment was correct, I have been overly aggressive and hostile of late; and I am sorry for that.

Hopefully I will return in better mental working order. Good luck all!

Re: Enlarged Landraider to carry my 'truescale' Command squad into battle!

    Hi Guys,

Here's an update, I've mainly been tidying up details around the chasis, and interior.

    1. I've completed the areas behind the side sponsons with doors and end detail from the COD buildings. (you may of noticed that I have ripped the components off of my other landraider shown in the first post)

    2. On the pulpit area I have mounted the Heavy bolter turret to the chasis, and added a Storm bolter. Decorative bracing sections have been added.

    3. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the doors have been re-worked and open and stay closed much more satisfactory now. I've also added COD component detail at the track guard area.

I will be sculpting purity seals and Ultramarine iconography on doors and other areas with green stuff and going over gaps with milliput.

Would anybody be able to suggest other details that I could add, does the Raider look Gothic enough?

Next update should be the interior.

Re: Enlarged Landraider to carry my 'truescale' Command squad into battle!

Oh I say, very well done chap. This is exactly how a landraider should look. The
comparatively smaller size of the lascannons looks fine to me - as has been mentioned above, GW have gone overboard with the scale of their weapons for a while now.

    Spot on, keep it up.

Re: Enlarged Landraider to carry my 'truescale' Command squad into battle!

I've been busy working and modelling away and have now condensed all the 40k related modelling into this thread with a contents page at post #1. I am currently using my webcam as my digital camera has gone on the fritz! So please excuse the slightly blurry pics for now.

So without further ado an update for the Enlarged landraider.

I have undercoated the model and have greenstuffed some Ultramarine icons for the rear access doors.
