    WarSeer Painting Support Group

Well, this was a favourite of mine.

Started previously by Bill aka Impronouncible or if the legends are correct Nameless One (But due to a server error his thread was lost).

Please help each other out and compliment each others work as we all strive to finish painting our armies while dealing with our addiction to this wonderful hobby.

This is a place where you can post about your painting projects, models, terrain, plans *for world domination* (ahem...sorry that slipped out), etc.

40K, Fantasy and any other game that requires you to put paint to brush (or dipping if that is your thing) are all welcome. Positive reinforcement and praise is always better and lets face it we all are proud of our painting skills, whether a beginner or a former Golden Daemon winner. If you are making a comment for improvement, please remember to be civil with your critiques or criticism (and always suggest a solution if you do).

Many posters like to post their lists of models; this is a perfectly natural step in admitting your addiction. The real goal of this group is to help you reduce that list and shrink the armies of silver, black and white with ranks of painted soldiers, fantastic terrain, and whatever else makes people oh and ah.

    Cheers,

    Captain Brown

Yes I am still an addict.

Well I never participated in the old thread but here goes ....

My names Phil and I play 40K ..

I have a nasty habit of wandering between army projects.

    On the go currently :-

    SoB's
    Imperial Fists
    GK's
Inquisitorial Stormtroopers (with =I= as well)

Last night I started doing to test schemes for my plans to revamp my Nids when they come out. I seem to be loosing the fight to get stuff finished. I amass a load of models for an arny and end up only building 50-75% of them and either never starting or half completing the other 50-75%

Help me Obi W... Portent painting support people you may be my only hope.

Way to get that off your chest there PhilBrad.

My name is also Phil and I am also an addict. However I am dealing with my addiction by restricting myself to only purchasing a figure if I have first painted and sealed two that I already own from my great armies of silver and white (or black depending on the primer).

I have thus lowered my list of figures left to paint to less that 200 now.

    SoB
    10 Seraphim
    4 Sisters
    8 Characters
    10 Zealots
    2 tanks

    SM
    10 Scouts

    IG
    13 Steel Legion
    53 Plastic Cadians
    2 Tanks

    Eld
    8 Striking Scorpions
    6 Fire Dragons
    2 tanks

    Ork
    1 Minder
    3 Gretchin

    HE
    16 Seaguard

    DE
    2 Dark Riders
    1 Sorceress

    The long painting war continues...

    Holy Throne .....

You certainly have a lot to be getting on with. The irony of my post is I'm not playing 40K for a few months as I'm playing in a Necromunda campaign. It took me only 3 days to paint 30 minis for my Delaque and Redemptionist gangs *hangs head in shame* The painting arm is willing... I think the trouble is mental (no sarccy commnets you lot )

Of and I forgot to mention the 50 Kroot, 20 Firewarriorsas well as the 100 Cadians, and an Immolator, and Predator, Whirlwind, Razorback, 2 Land Raiders ...

    I'll get me coat !!!

Funny how when you start counting the silver, white and black that the numbers grow very quickly.

See and no comment on the mental challenges...oops.

Hello again all, in my last post in this thread, I said i had 5 imperial fist assault marines left to paint and a couple of marine bikes.
    I have now finished them.

But i now have no models left to paint!!!!

And i have the least amount of money ever so i cant purchase any more!!!

Luckily i found a few old RT era plastic marines. who have now been dumped in the stripping pot. its something to keep me occupied i guess.....

    Hey there support group,
I've got a ton of chaos marines to paint. It's pretty daunting considering all the little detailed spikey bits.

Currently I've finally finished some of my Ultramarines. Including the Captain, I created my own right handed Lightning Claw.

Not to hard at all. Cut off the power cable and thumb, file flat. Cut a thumb from a powerfist, place on top, and greenstuff the power cable to the bottom of the LC before running another half up to the body and behind the Captain's back. I used the power cable from a Terminator LC cable for this.

    Easier than I ever imagined.

    Oh, and my Chaplain.

    Question

    just wondered
as I have my new OK army, I need some good bases
I decided the'd come from Mt.Thug (really snowy mountain).
So I need some advice on how I could make snow on the bases. The sugar+glue didn't work and I want it to be 3D.
    Any ideas

Yowser! It really does feel like home again, I keep having to pinch myself [/over excitable]

Well, regular viewers will remeber that last time our hero was obsesing over the Vend Dread for his 1st Co..
Basically I stole the idea off Kaiijer, I've not been able to get him since we lost P, but hopefully now I'll get the chance to ask his advice.
Anyway, here's where I'm up to, puls my list so far, there's been a bit of an addition since Portent went down (no, not another PPSG'er dropping a baby ).

    Ultras 1st Co:
    1x Commander - Done
    4x Command Squad - Done
    5x Termie Squad - Done
    5x Termie Squad - Done
    5x Termie Squad - Done
    1x Dreadnought - Done
    1x Landraider - Done
    1x Ven Dread - 40%
    1x Landraider - 0%

    Cononial Marines IG:
    3x APC (Scratch Build) - 15%
1x Command HQ Squad (Full conv) - 0%
    2x Grenadier Squad (full conv) - 0%

Here's the Ven Dread so far:

Not too much to report so far, he's meant to be in theme with all the other Termies, so I went with a Termie head to try & make him look Venerable, hence Kaiijer's idea.

The IG are having scratch-built APCs (Aliens themed), I'm about half way through building the prototype, it''s not very pretty atm, but here's what I've got so far..

Love those Ultras Engel, I wanted to comment onthe the other night on B&C, but they get mardy if you do silly things (like comment on other people's work)
That freehand's an excellent start, it may seem simple, but that's quite a complex design you've gone for, I'd suggest that you use instead of black for the outlines, use shadow grey (a tiny bit) watered down not with water but with black ink.
You need it runny as all-hell to get any kind of control to your lines, but it needs to be strong enough in pigment to make a sharp line wihtout having to go over it 10 times.
A little thing, it makes checks easier if you paint the grid in black first, using single straight lines, then fill in the coloured areas.
Then, when you fill in the black squares, it makes it easier to get much sharper details, since you can fill little bit up to the lines & such.
Sorry, I've not explained it very well.

Those little details aside, very nicely done alround. I especially like the conversions, & the crozius looks loverly, more like I'd imagine a Crozius to look like than many of the GW-bits.

To be fair, this thread was actually started by Nameless One. Only due to a severe error was my name placed at the top.

Cheers mate, I don't have templates as such, but what I did was take a tech drawing I foundon a fan-site, & mark it out onto card.
I put up a thread about it on Dysartes here, if anyone's interested.

By the way, I checked that card model site out too, but whenever I download one of thier .rar files, it's passworded, so I can't unzip it & check out the plans.
Any chance you could tell me how on earth you're meant to open those files?

Ahh... The Painting Support Group. Feels like home.
Not that I really need it as my nearest deadline is somewhere in october , and I usually buy my stuff in bite-size chunks.
The only reason I come here is because I like feedback on my stuff and I like to see nicely painted minis... And I like bothering others by just being there...

My update: finished scouts! Most of you will already have seen them, as I posted them on other forums as well, but I just can't resist the urge to post them again...

    Dark Angel Scouts

I also added some weathering to my DA Tactical Squad though it might be a bit hard to see...
