Maybe you should hold back yourself while you are painting.Originally Posted by ExoCowboy

To be honest I would liked some blue better, but I think this is a question about personal taste. Definitely a worthy conversion and a great mini overall.
Have fun,

You are really on the roll, Exo! Good work. The only thing that I don't get is why must all the blades (this includes the DE squad you finished before) be covered in blood. I know they're evil and sadistic and all, but that's something that just doesn't happen in a battle. Especially because the rest of their armour looks so clean.
Still in the buff, just this time it's not my fault. I started converting the first of the new bikes, but cut my thumb two minutes later. Damn, I hate it when that happens. You know, when you try to hold something with the cut finger and blood just bursts out because of the pressure. So, no cutting today, anymore.![]()
@yerpo: maybe they were modelling with their splinter rifles and cut themselves. But seriously, that is one good question you have there... maybe I should be a little less excited to do their weapons so gory.
@rkunisch:
thanks for the feedback all!

Looks great ExoCowboy, and I hope you have a happy birthday.

thanks TG!
I started a new thread about my daemonhunter inquisitor's retinue. The DE painting starts to feel like a chore, and I couldnt have made it this far without all your feedback. Now, one more reaver and I have 500pts army... then I will do them a bit slower I guess, but do they I will.
But back to the retinue. I will do something else on the painting and conversion-front to keep up the inspiration, and I found my unfinished guys to do... lets hope they help to keep up the inspiration!
But here is the first guy done and finished!

Good job, looking forward to seeing your next one

Sorry boys, have not been able to do any painting for quite a while, the move is done and now I have boxes everywhere. Priority has to go to unpacking and getting ready for the wedding rather than painting. Although I am not buying any figures right now (although I may be trading for some).
Moving and getting married are a lot of work.
Good to see others are getting stuff done, although I notice many of you are going a little quiet...back to school demands I think?

[command squad] yeah, these guys. i still need to add static grass to everyone, but they've seen action since being "finished"
yet to do:
two lascannons, a host of special weapons, and a pantload of veteran sergeants. oh. and the guardsmen. thankfully, my friend is thinking about painting his own damn wave serpent this time around. but things are going smoother. i think it's the fact that painting is something that my wife and i can do together that's keeping my intrest, if only to keep her painting. she's got dark elves, and one of us will be posting pics eventually.

To be honest, I'm not keen on the highlighting on the inside of the shoulderpads, as I feel that it just doesn't look right. I think it should be done like normal highlighting, on the outside, curved area, of the shoulderpad.
Other than that, they look great. Highlighting is neat, and those Veterans look especially good, including their cloaks (Not dresses damnit, I have some of those models myself). I also very much like the idea of the shields on their left shoulder, which adds more to the general overall good look of the figures.
For myself? Well, I picked up an Ogre Kingdoms book today. Brimstone is similar to me in not being able to settle upon a specific Fantasy army to play (Nothing seems to appeal!), but he had gone for Ogres, and after a little thought, I think I will end up doing so too. Should be good, and should hopefully have a few models to paint within the next few days. Hoorah.

i agree. the highlights on the shoulder pads are really in the wrong place, they should be shaded there instead. still, nice paintjobs overall, very crisp, good stuff.Originally Posted by Darkness
Self Biased, the highlights on the shoulder pads, I agree seem to be in the wrong place, and also, they are quite extreme, especially on the cloth.
Other than that, great, very nice multi melta you got there.
TG
@self biased: nice models, I especially like the multimelta-guy. Although others say about the shoulder-pad highlighting being in the wrong place, I do enjoy watching these models. Veterans look great too, looking much like the warrior-monks like dark angels are. Good work! Please, show us more as you get them done.

@ Self Biased, I really like the look of those Veterans, they look well good. I like the shields on their shoulder pads. You could paint some kind of a chapter or squad markings on them, that would make them look even better. I really like the Multimelta chap aswell he looks well good.

I Have just finished painting my first 3 High Elf models Swordmasters pics soon hopefully.
For some reason I am drinking out of date milk, but on the subject of the topic, and the reason why I clicked the reply button, I have started painting my Ogre Kingdoms force.
Not much yet, but I have done the skin, and started on the trousers of one (That's right, one!) Ogre. I wanted something very different for the skin, so have chosen white, which is an utter pain in the backside to paint, so I'm not really looking forward to painting the others. You may as well ignore the trousers altogether really, as I've only done the basecoat for the red, so it's largely irrelevant.

It looks great darkness, but next time, GS the arms into the torso, they look too seprate for my liking.
Good luck with the rest, white can be a bitch to paint.
TG
@ Self Biased: They look great. except the highlights on the shoulder pads that have already been pointed out.
@ Darkness: Nice! The skin have a very cool look to it. Ever considered giving the Ogres blue or light blue (or something in the middle) pants? That would look pretty cool together with the pale skin.
As for me, well I have done some stuff on my Ahriman model that will be my Dark Apostle for my Word Beaerer army, and I have started to asseble my newly bought Havocs for them.
Now you guys might be wondering why I am starting a new army when I have a ton of unassembled 'nids. Well the reason for this is that I already have alot of the stuff I needed for my WB's from before so I really didn't have to buy so much things, and I am planning to fast finish this army so I can play with it whilst I am assembling and finding a scheme for the highly confusing 'nids.
Makes sense? Probably not... An other excuse is that I recently found alot more fluff about the WB's (critical hit or redelf.. can't remember wich one) and fell in love with them.
Oh and by the way, please click on the "need help with WB's army list" in my link, since I would need some help with my army list.
I wil try to take some pics of the Dark Apostle later today.

Looking goood darkness, looking good![]()
i don't really like the skin tone, looks very 'dead' but the way you pulled it off is certanly fantastic.
