My problems with the conversion are also with the angle of the banner.

At that angle the guy would be overbalanced, no matter how much muscle he had, the flag would weigh him down so much on one side.

The other thing is the banner isn't reacting to gravity, the cloth is just floating in mid air, with very little affect seen.

But very cool, the problems aren't that awful, just like to point them out.

@ TG: I think that there is supposed to be some strong winds coming from the right (our) of the model, and that's why the cloth is in that angle (I suppose).

@ PD: It looks nice so far, but you really have to extend that banner pole so it looks like it is either resting on the ground or have been pushed a little bit into the ground.

@ Exo: The dwarf looks pretty nice so far. The conversion itself is pretty cool (although a bit unnatural hands on that model) and the basic layers of paint looks good.

I also think that the angle is too extreme and the pole isn't really straight. He could never hold this weight with only one hand and as it looks now the end of the banner's pole will cause serious damage in his ....uh....private area within the next seconds. But it surely looks impressive. Go on and paint it PD!

Mr.Oh-so-picky eh? There is supposed to be a very strong wind coming from the front of the dude, i might add some purity seals to show that,

i can't extend the pole actually, i don't have any more pole thingies (well i do, but they are very thin/thick). I will add an anti-gravity thingie at the bottom then

I am sorry guys, you will see the Slayer painted tomorrow. My car was stolen last night (found out couple of hours ago.. and a man was killed kinda close by a youth-group, might be the same group that stole my car), and the shock caused me not to get anything done. So, tomorrow will see the pics of him!

Not good Exo, sorry to hear that - Why people find it amusing to steal other people's cars I don't know... Happened to my dad and ended up with the car on fire in a main road...

I added the anti-gravity thingy to the side of the banner, and GS-ed (1st layer) some ripped cloak to represent wannabe-grip on the hand holing the banner, and to give the joint a bit more strength.

This will be the only major conversion in my command platoon (apart from the heroic officer, duh )

Damn, this is bad. I always thought that Finnland was one of the best and savest places to live. If there are any EU- or worldwide studies about anything, Finnland and the rest of the scandinavian coutries are always on top if it's about something good and at the end of the list if it's about something negative.

I haven't painted anything yet as uni had started today, afterwards, I was at a gaming club and fell into the bed and slept until now when I returned home.

@sigur: your uni had started on saturday? Damn, that's some harsh university I'm starting my last year on monday, so I should have some more time to paint (last year here means doing work for the graduation thesis, which I already have under progress, and mopping up exams from the 4th year).

Otherwise I'm still working on those blasted Slaanesh bikes. I'm in the process of scavenging for the final bitz (still need some suitable sticks for the Champion's extended forks), then I can start painting. I'd also like to paint the second squad of Daemonettes before the local tournament next saturday, but we'll see...

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

hehe, well, it was an introducing event for the people who just started. I went there to get back into the whole uni stuff better and to get some info I might have forgotten over the long vacation. Actually, I only stayed on hour, decided that I knew all and went to watch some games of 40k.

By the way, I saw an EC army today, fully painted and some neat conversions. Not as many or as ...interesting (*rememberes the one-legged Dread*) as yours but it looked very neat. So go ahead and paint your army, yerpo!

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

Damn, that really sucks Exo, both about your guy and the death, I don't know whether I should hope they are related or not, probably the latter, no-one deserves to die, even if they are such little ****wads to steel your car.

Even worse if they killed someone with your car, *uckbags.

Good luck in future, don't get back into painting for our sakes, take your time, we don't want you to ruin any models in your frustration, (attempt at inappropriate humour)

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

thanks everyone for support! I am already better, the car wasnt expensive or new (Fiat Uno -96), but it was of great sentimental value for me, as it was bought by my father for me. It was known as "the Red Avenger", and had a great personality... well, I havent yet given up hope that he will be found somewhere, hopefully in ok shape.

The death was caused by the stabbing and kicking I have heard, so at least the guy killed was not killed with my car.. I know, my original message was a bit un-informative, but I was kinda sad for the situation. The guy killed was not one of the car-thieves (he was completely innocent person ), but he was killed by a group of youngsters quite close where I live, so it would be quite believable that the same hooligans also stole my car. But that is just an assumption... Finland is really a safe place to be in, and as 2 crimes happened so close, there can easily be a connection.

Anyways, the model is now painted, it was of good therapic thing to do... got time to think about the stuff. The painting really looks nice, cant wait to get some photos of him. Just wainting for the camera to load the battery

What do you guys study at the uni, may I ask? I study youth work and communal activity at the humanities polytechnic here in Finland, at the moment doing my graduating work about the Internet communities, how young people feel about them and if there are ways for the youth work to use the communities in web as a tool to socialize the kids... already 33 pages written

I just began my last year of biology study (pure biology that is) at the biotechnical faculty here in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Need to say that my next army will be 'nids? Got my graduating work well under way by now (the experiments, not the writing itself), and I plan to finish next fall.

Wow, that looks awesome, Exo - I really like the way you've mixed models from different armies/games and still ended up with a really convincing unit. Not to mention the great paintjob too! I envy the book on that Priest...

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

    Okay I need help.

    With painting.

    As well.

20th of November there's a painting competition in which I'm certainly entering the Disciple of Wrath Space Marine Terminator (blue-yellow guy) which I've showed around here a couple of times. He's finished and so is the base (which is almost a unique thing) but I want to add the rest of the squad along with this entry and for that I think it might be wise if I sign up here. Believe me, 20th of November may seem a long way off, but with only the weekends being the time to paint, and being most of thát time away with mates, it's that time before you'd know it.

Now secondly, I also have a dreadnought which I once started painting in Celestial Lions colours (gold and blue) but I'm going to repaint it in the same colours as the terminator, and for that I'll need some help as well (by motivation and such. The same reason ya'll are posting here I'd say). I'll keep posting here to keep you up to date with my progress and show you any pictures I have I feel are worth showing (expect a lot of WIP pics from me then).

For now, that's me signing out. Got painting to do.
    Thanks.

@exo: great bunch of guys, these are. There's simply nothing I would add or substract. BTW, I meant to ask you some time back how do you paint those transitions on the power axe, which are also seen on your Jetbikes. I'd imagine it involves sliding the brush off a raised surface, but I think you could explain it more clearly. Thanks.

@Tulkas: looks like you got it pretty much figured. I can only say "go for it".

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

@exocowboy: Nice, nice, nice. The whole retinue looks very good on this group picture. The Squat also looks better with the paintjob (duh.. ) but I'm still not very much into these extreme proportions. As a model itself, I'm not too fond of him, but he fits into the unit very well. The power axe of the tech priest looks very good; it looks really sharp somehow.

After a rather unamusing (and too long) trip into the wastelands of a psychology study and a year of community service instead of 8 months of military service I started studying history (purest history) here in Vienna last year and ....I like it.

edit: there's a thing I want you to see on CMON -> link

edit2: Hey, people, don't leave me alone here. I just finished the skin of the DEelves unit. Moving on to the robes now.
