Thread: WarSeer Painting Support Group

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

@yerpo: great stuff, I really like your EC's.. although slaanesh is my least favourite of four powers. Great conversions with good painting, one can just love them.

@sigur: I dont think that red looks too chalky. I like these models a lot, my favourite bit is that warlock's black/white harlequinesque helmet. Damn you, I now want to repaint my own old eldar force!.. *uses mental skillz to resist*

@khrangar: there seems to be a lot to do, so get painting and post us pictures of your progress!

@The Dragon Reborn: any chances to see pictures? Here is how I did my librarian's banner, stolen from the marine commander -boxhttp://cultofcowboys.net/ultra/iscar...riot_front.jpg

@TG: Must. See. Pics. Of. Spawn.... please?

And here is an updated version of my haemonculus, now with a sick skin and some poison:

Now, time to build up some Dark Apostle and a Ravager. Yeehaa.

You have my sympathy, I had to do this with 48 moria goblins, durburz, 2 shaman, 4 drummers, 2 drums and a cave troll. I watered down the black a bit more than usual so i got a very quick even coverage all over the model.

After christmas I will have: (That I know of)
    20 Space Marines
    10 Assualt Terminators
1 Librairian or Chaplain or Master (Haven't decided which)
    4 Command squad termies

EDIT: The list is know only because I have been drawn into collectin fantasy.
    20 Space Marines
    5 Assualt Terminators

    Well... ok

Here's the spawn, based on the gorger, a lot of work still to be done (maybe a bit more structure, to beef it up, and a few more tentacles).

Comments please, orks later, as I'm posting this during my lunch break .

EDIT: BTW, I've discovered a very simple little technique to make nobs look bigger, easy to do, with very little effort. (Now, someone take that out of context)

DOUBLE EDIT: Looking good there Exo, the skin's pretty brilliant (damn smiley limit anyway, think of the yellow normal one k?)

The GS-ing is good TG, as always, but I'm not too keen on the composition of the model. At the moment it just looks like a dog, walking upright, covered in seaweed
To make it looks more chaosy and distorted, you can GS flayed-off skin on it, add extra bits of un-needed flesh (it really is a fat thing! :P ) and all that crazy stuff.

OR have 3 heads sticking out from the body and call it 'fluffy' but that would be clearly crap and not in the spirit of the wast-er- warhammer universe

I will some day make some spawns for LatD -project, and I will shamelessly steal the idea of making one of them from a gorger, because that fellow looks really nice!

@Exocowboy: Wow, the green on the claws makes them look very evil. I also love this guy's face. You got the expression very well. And I'll upload new WIP pics of the Eldar to put your mental skillz to test.

@TG: Looks nice. I don't think that all Chaos Spawns have to look like the most twisted thing from dimension X.

    Anyway, here's a little update:
    1
    2
    3

And a WIP of the SOB Rhino I'm working on:
    Rhino

Hey, I had an idea...why don't we make a paintathon tonight? Everyone shows up with one or two miniatures he has to finish soon and we paint away, including updates every hour or so. What do you think? (Actually, I'm starting that because I only have 2 days left to finish those Eldar guys) As some kind of WSPSG christmas special?

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

I would be up for that, I have a assault cannon terminator I need to finish

I have a game today hopefully that might get in the way of painting

I might be up for that, but I take too long to paint a single line and i get a giant depression if I make even the tiniest mistake.

I'd probably be up for that, provided I can shift my **** from the computer to the painting table... Any ideas of what time, or just evening in general?

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

I'm thinking of painting up a squad of blood angel marines +5 models+ and finishing my Tau battlesuit, where only the arms and the legs need to be painted.

EDIT: screw marines! I'm painting a squad of guard!

What about...uhm.....21:00, Asutarian time (GMT+01)? But generally, there's no real schedule I guess. Just a pic in the beginning and some updates here and there, motivating each other to keep on painting. Maybe we can change MSN or ICQ contacts for faster communication (without forgetting to paint of course )To the upcoming special occation, the WSPSG will have to so something special! We'll make this an all-nighter, guys.

Good to see you in Darkness, as well as The Dragon Reborn (I assume you'll join us later). You're in too, PD, no whining allowed.

They both look very nice apart from some minor problems, the white on the farseer looks flat, start from an off white and highlight upwards and the sword on the warlock is to plain and looks like you haven't highlighted it (or only slightly, try getting some ice blue paint and highlighting it with that + paint lightening effects on the sword. Apart from that they are very nice, I really like your bone(?) and the red cloth which looks amazing (imo).

EDIT: don't know wyhy, there is nothing wrong with it but the first link won't work in the quote.

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

They are still very WIP, so there are no highlights on the sword yet, the helmets also need some work etc.

Hope to have them finished by tomorrow.

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

PD: Well, whilst I think that's a bit unfair, I can see the sea weed comment (although I'd like to believe it's because it isn't paint yet), and the dog pose, well that's actually something I've been conciderign before you mentioned it, I'm not sure what I can do, but this model's title is now fluffy (*tongue in cheek smiley here, bloody image limit*).

Exo: I'd be honoured if you nicked the idea, it's always a pleasure to see someone else do something similar, bouncing ideas off one another is something this thread is great for (*Smiley face here too*).

Sigur: That's what I was going for, I'm not too fond of the moving balls of torn muscle and bloody flesh, a more solid approach in this front I feel has worked quite well (*assortment of rediculous smileys, just to further my aggrivation about the limit*).

Also, I'm loving the SoB tank, very cool indeed, only eclipsed by the paintathon, I'd love to take part in one, not tonight though (or maybe, depends on finishing times of dances etc).

    Very cool.

Anyways, here are my orks, the first one, my hard hitter, bashem all to death, the second, a PIP model, with the enlarging stepping up, very simple to do, well worth a try to individualise orks, really I recommend it, as it's sooo easy. The third, shoulder pad boy, I didn't set out to get the "blood bowl" look, but I think I'v done just enough to avoid it, what do you think? And the fourth, the others, not finished, but just there to show you how the unit is shaping out, one in particular to notice is the one with the spear, the seemingly redundant arm from a chaos orge actually fits quite well, it's a shame that it's the only use so far I've found for the ogres.

Comments very welcome (*Some more smileys, just to drive me to distraction*).

Thanks, the markings were just a bit of time consuming work, going back to yellow after doing black, and then yellow again, but I started on scorched brown, just to make it a bit easier for myself.

    Cheers.

(Can't get on right now, it sayd there's some sort of "server error" I'll see about being on later though)

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

I got that, but cheers anyway, I was mainly asking whever you freehanded it or used something to cover up the lines, because it looks VERY neat, much better than mine. Gosh I'm straight-to-the-point aren't I?

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

Cheers, freehand all the way, I couldn't find something suitable that wouldn't take the layer of before it (I needed it to stick in order to paint on the area), so I had to (time consumingly) paint each line myself.

    Ok,

A little squirrel sent me a PM telling me to wander by and catch up and join the Xmas paintathon.

I can participate, although updates will be limited. My wife is studying and mentoring so she will be on the computer tonight, I will see if I can wrangle some time to update.

What will I be painting you ask? (Like you need to)

Imperial Guard, specifically my Necromundian Guardsmen. How many will I get done...only time will tell. However right now they are black from their primer coat and that is it.

And to all you WPSG members, who have not joined the 5th Company, why haven't you? Spots are getting filled by metalheads and new members faster than our regular contributors! Do you part and paint a model; reduce your horde of unpainted models by one.
