    @ Sgt John

Nice stuff there, the yellowish colour seems to be more well executed on the second kasrkin though. What I'd do to improve these models would be :

    - Sort out the flesh on the seargent, at the moment it just seems kinda messy. It's a tad too dark to be caucasian, but it doesn't seem dark enough to be anything else. Jenova has good guides for non caucasian skin and for caucasian skin my choice'd have to go with Jakob Rune Nielsen.

I'd paint the wee flash things on the guns (the wee things around the ends of teh barrels) a different colour. In this case I'd probably go for black, same goes for the casing of the guns.

These are merely things to improve with, as the minis stand they are good gaming quality minis.

I've been a bad squirrel, playing everquest for the last 2 weeks, doing no painting at all. Spank me.

Trying to finally finish my Canoness' backpack and practicing shading/highlighting on a Champion of Khorne.

    I am the Walrus...

AH HA! Success! Motivation comes to those who wait! With a big tournament on the horizon on the 10th-11th of September, even I can get my army up to 1850 painted and based points by then!

So, without further ado (and while Nightwish luls me in to a near death-like slumber) here is the list *cue ominous rolling thunder*

    1. Acquire a box of Assault Marines for the purposes of heretical conversion in to a Raptor Squad.
    2. Purchase another 4 bikes to convert and then paint up all 6 for my Slaneesh inspired squad.
    3. Glues arms, heads, backpacks, and guns to my Tactical squad and paint.
    4. Buy a SM Rhino and Chaos it up sans spikes (stupid things to have around, catching on robes and deflecting bolter fire)

    5. Plaster purity seals to me Emporer's Champion model and finish the painting in my CSM colours for a rather different take on Chaos Lords.
    6. Glue that damn hand on my Sorceror and clean up that face mask.
    7. Finish conversions on the Predator, get that Green Stuff on there, and be happy.
    8. Base and seal about 30 Marines, not forgetting to put more than just rubble on them (eg broken boltguns are good!).
    This gives me the following happy-joy list;
HQ - Chaos Lord, Chaos Sorceror
    Troops - 10x 'Tactical', 8x 'Tzeentch', 8x 'Khorne'

Fast Attack - 5 Raptors, 6 'Slaanesh' Bikes

Heavy Support - 7x 'Nurgle' Havocs, Predator AC/HB, Land Raider

It's not terribly much at all

Thank you! Unfortunately, the quality seem to drop for every trooper I do.

Nice Kasrkins, Sgt.Keel. How are you gonna do the bases?

Don't bother about the skin tone too much. Remember: Lexandro D'Arquebus had olive green colored skin.

Within the Imperium, there are almost all kinds of skin tones depending on local, sanctioned mutation, enviromental influences on the people, pollution, etc.

    Re: Portent Painting Support Group

Greetings, fellow painters. Took me a long time, but I finally took the trouble of rejoining the Portent painting support group.

For those who don't remember me from the old Portent: hello, I'm yerpo, and I have a problem. Basically, I'm a lazy bastard (in terms of painting and otherwise), so my first army is still not finished despite being in this hobby for 5 years.
Well, my EC army has grown since you last heard of me, but not as much as I'd like. I finished a Predator (http://yerpo.uuxfer.net/heavy/predator.jpg ), two Chaos Hounds (http://yerpo.uuxfer.net/troops/hound2.jpg), and a Lascannon guy (http://yerpo.uuxfer.net/troops/lascannon.jpg).

Currently I'm working on a heavily converted CC trooper and a plasma gunner, but can't find motivation to finish them (both still in the assembly phase).

To finish the army I still need to finish a Rhino, some CC troopers, 8 Daemonettes, 4 Bikers, and a Keeper of Secrets. Do I have to admit I have a problem?

    PS: good work, everybody else!

    Re: Portent Painting Support Group

That depends on... many things. I need to buy some more models, aquire bitz, besides, the exams just started. I hope me & my friends will go to a painting vacation like we did last year. That should speed the process up a bit. Maybe all of this will be finished somewere next year. Maybe not. Like I said, I'm a lazy bastard.

Actually, I'm from Slovenia. Yeah, painting vacation is something you go to when you have good friends that also play 40k and one of them has a house in the middle of nowhere.

    Sounds kinky, sorry

    Anyway here's today's update,

after spending yesterday at piano lessons and two higher exams (chemistry and art written), I have accomplished very little, so now I must force myself to make a birthday cake, and finish those tow wargors.

that'll be what I do, an update tonight methinks

    Hello Ladies and Gents,

An Update with some pics from me today.

First 8 spinegaunts from a brood of 20.

First 8 Hormagaunts from a brood of 20.

    3 Warriors.

And from the back side (ooh err)

To Do List (Changed due to tournament on the 25/6/05)

    20 Spinegaunts - 8 Done
    20 Hormagaunts - 8 Done
    3 Warriors - Done
    3 Warriors
    6 Raveners
    1 Hive Tyrant
    1 Lictor

This is what I need for the 25th.

The models are painted pretty basic, I figured once I had the whole army done to this standard then I could go back and add little details.

Thats me for now, no painting today but will get another 8 gaunts done by Saturday

Nice color scheme, good contrasts, clean paintjob. From what I can see the claws look nice too. Thumbs up!

Maybe you could install another light source when making photos of your minis?

    Re: Portent Painting Support Group

Hmm, been a while since I've haunted these boards. Good to see that the Support Group is still about, even as the name prepares to be changed apparently.

I've been rather slack lately, not getting much stuff done of my own. Been doing too much commission work, and just generally being busy in life. my list of things to paint is enormous, untenable, staggering, and, as frightening as it is to admit, even more massive, collosal, stupendous than it was when I posted on old Portent. It's frightening how many minis you accrue when you paint on commission and get paid in minis instead of monies.

That said, I do have yet another of my famous excessive chaos dreadnought conversions complete, and painting it is my current project. Once done with this one, I think I'll have enough large model experience under my belt to tackle the Big Dread. I'll post pics of the current one once I'm closer to completion. As of now, I've got both arms done, the legs mostly done, and the cockpit area complete. All I have to do is dress up the legs with final ouches, the torso, basing, and it'll be good to go.

It's great to see this thread. Here's hoping it survives.

Here is the test I did for my marine army, http://photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/Marines/.

The colour scheme is Hawk Turquoise and Ice Blue with white skulls and badges and the like as well as Regal Blue eagles and purity seal tops.

    Hey Moonduck, welcome back.

Was it you that had the Winter World Eldar in greys and light blues?

I am getting old and do not remember these things as well as I used too.

Why should the name be changed? Here is the chance to set the old Portent a monument.

On topic: Some little progress on my Chaplain and the Monolith. I hope to complete both till the end of the week.

    Have fun,

Thanks for the welcome. No, I did not have those eldar, though I remember the ones you're talking about. they were brilliant.

I posted a profuse number of different things, including undead, Brets, CSM's, crazy dreadnoughts, etc.

Here's what most people will likely recall:

*shrug* Just going by some stickied thread I saw. I have no idea why the name should be changed.
