Guys... this is turning into my own little project Log.

Aside from moving into Historicals I have also picked up some Infinity models; they will be doing double-duty as Jokero in my GK force which I am also working on at the moment. The GW models do nothing for me; I wanted something a little more alien and a little less primitive ("Oh sure we have laz0rz but no pants." ).

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

    Looking good there Codsticker.

    Very nice Venomthrope conversion Philip_Cohen.

Thanks for the props Colonel Jacka.

I have been painting up a storm, mainly due to health issues limiting my time and restricting my travel. Mostly Imperial Guard due to my Tau basically being complete and my primary Photobucket account getting so many views it threatened to disable the images. It is funny how something like that can get you re-starting a project that seemed to have stalled. My Imperial Guard log started in 2008, and the first seven figures were initially painted when the plastic Cadian Guardsmen first came out.

One drawback was that some figures I had earmarked for sale on eBay suddenly re-entered the list of models too paint.

To Paint List – Base Coat Completed - Primed - Unassembled – Still in Blister/Box/Closet/Under the Bed

    Imperial Guard – 28
    2 Chimera
    1 Chimera
    1 Leman Russ
    1 Commissar
    3 Cadian Snipers
    17 Cadians Completed
    3 Cadians
    Painted this year: 17

    Sisters of Battle - 28
    16 Sisters
    5 Sisters Superior or Standards
    2 Sisters with Special Weapons
    2 Sisters with Heavy Weapons
    3 Rhinos
    Painted this year: 5

    Tau - 2
    1 Tank Commander
    1 Drone
    Painted this year: 20

Here are some of the Guard I have painted in the last few weeks (lots more pictures in my PLOG link in my signature)

    Models painted in 2012: 42

    The long painting war continues...

I like the beard on the Officer o the left. It's funny how somehting as simple as that and a cap makes a mini stand out as unique.

I got a few more Andalusian mounts painted up:

    Hi everyone,

These are my very first tyranids (and models) and I would like to have some advice to improve their skin. For now, it's just a layer of Bleach Bone with a coat of Skull White, and I think it really needs to be improved, but how ? With a shade ? With a brush ? Thanks.

I am a big fan of GW's inks. I think that would be the way to go. Try a light wash, and add another if it's not dark enough. If it's too dark you can always brighten them back up again.

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

Those are some good clean Tyranids and very good for first models! I like the color scheme I agree with the modsticker: A wash will work wonders on those gaunts. Best bet is Devlan Mud, or maybe even Gryphonne Sepia (not sure what the new color wash/shades names are). Just play around with them

For my part, I'm struggling with a trio of Sentinels. I thought they'd be quick, fun, and easy. But, no, I hate them. They need to look less cool!

    And I should use a different paint/primer

The sepia one has a subtle orange tone whereas Devlan Mud is, well, mud coloured.

Let us know how your models turn out after the wash!

I bought a new paint spraying kit this weekend as my much beloved, and used original lost the vital part in the some 8 years it sat around the house while I was off on my own. Sprayed on a test color and its awesome. Good bye Catachan Green. Can't wait until next weekend to get all the sentinels sprayed up! And maybe a Russ or Vindicator too! Oh noez!

I'm still waiting for my GW order, but as soon as I can, I will post new pictures

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

I tried with Seraphin sepia (too colored) and Agraw earthshade (too dark on flesh), and I don't like the result in both cases, so I don't have any new picture.

It's probably a little too late now but you could always try thinning it.

Just finishing up the last Noble Cavalry and starting some bow armed Jinetes. Rather kit bashed: bodies and horses form Conquest Games Normans, heads, arms and bows from Wargames Factory Persians and the quivers (cut down to appropriate size) from Bretonnian Archers.

After applying a wash, especially if you applied it rather heavily, its a good idea to layer the models. Reapply the original basecoat colour as a highlight layer, leaving the wash colour in the recesses. Im not sure if you did or not, but several thin coats is always better than one thick coat good luck!

Thanks for your advices. For the moment, I'm painting a tervigon and I applied a coat of 4:1 skull white / bleached bone after my coat of bleached bone and I get a result closer to what I want. I'll post pictures when it will be finished.

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

While waiting for the greenstuff on the jinetes to dry, I finished painting Coteaz for my DH army. As my army is a combined force of Inquitional henchmen and Grey Knights I really needed him to be able to take all my units of henchmen. All I need to do is finish off the base and he is ready for the tabletop.

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

Great conversion work there Codsticker (the bow armed Jinetes)...nice making what you need from existing ranges.

I have continued to work on my guard PLOG, but mainly in raising the standard of the figures/tanks rather than painting new ones. And as a repeat of my last update, a few more figures have wormed their way back into my to paint list. I did knock off 3 last Cadian infantry...check my PLOG for images...and images of over 10 armoured vehicles that just had an update.

To Paint List – Base Coat Completed - Primed - Unassembled – Still in Blister/Box/Closet/Under the Bed

    Imperial Guard – 32
    2 Chimera
1 Commissar Found another in my bits box...
    3 Cadian Snipers
    3 Cadians
3 Regimental Advisors These are new
20 Cadian Veterans These are also new
    Painted this year: 20
1 Leman Russ is coming off the list and is now for sale...after working through one Leman Russ I don't have the drive to do another from scratch)

    Sisters of Battle - 29
    12 Sisters
    4 Sisters
    4 Sisters Superior or Standards
    2 Sisters Superior
    2 Sisters with Special Weapons
    2 Sisters with Heavy Weapons
    3 Rhinos
    Painted this year: 5
I have pulled off the Conclave figures if anyone is interested.

    Tau - 1
    1 Drone
    Painted this year: 20

    Models painted in 2012: 45
