You seem to be clearing up the backlog nicely there Captain Brown.

I have made the mistake* of joining the Tale of Historical Painters so I will be concentrating on the Andalusians for the next year, whihc means that my other projects are going to taker a backseat.

*I say "mistake" because I am going to be away for a couple of weeks this summer which will cut into my painting time as not only will I be away, when I am back I will be too busy catching up on "important stuff" too paint.

I've never actually looked at this thread before . I'll have to go through my stuff and list what needs painting and then I'll have a good manly cry

That is the danger of joining those Tale threads...but if it gets you painting it cannot be that bad.

Really, this thread was the 13th started on the forums after Portent finally died off and we became Warseer. Regardless, welcome to the support group...post a shot of your progress here and folks will comment and help you trough the army of grey, white and black.

So I had been assembling some of my Veterans, all of the remaining ones in fact...then after some success with flamers in 6th edition I built four more Guardsmen with flamers as well, primed them, painted odd little bits...stared at them...moved them around on shelves...then realized that they were not going to paint themselves.

So a Veteran Sergeant and a pair of Melta Gunners:

Despite adding five models, I did decide to sell off one of my Advisors and the last remaining Gun Drone from my Tau.

Many more shots in my PLOG (link in Sig)

Support group seem to be the best place for this rather than starting a thread of its own. Basically I'm wondering, what is up with super glue? It just doesn't seem to last. I get a new bottle/ tube, and I get 2 months out of it at best before it goes all manky and half-dried in its container. Can anyone tell me why? I live in Australia where it gets quite hot and humid in summer, but even in the winter I have this problem. It doesn't seem to be related to brand, I have heard some people say it's a Citadel thing but I've had it happen with other makes too and I'm getting over having to buy new glue every time I need to use it. If any one has solutions on making it last, or a make they know does not suffer this problem, I would greatly appreciate the shared knowledge!

By the time, my dad used to store his super glue in the fridge to keep it much longer but don't know if it had really an impact on it. You can try, it costs nothing.

The fellow that owned the local hobby store said that sunlight accelerated super glue so a dark cool place is probably the best place to keep it.

It's kept in an enclosed, dark box so zero sunlight, and it's as cool as I can keep it in my climate without putting it in the fridge... I think my strategy now is just going to be assembling large amounts of models all at once so I at least get to use the majority of a tube ever time.

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

I don’t see many folks getting through their unpainted armies…let’s not let the unpainted win.

Once again I have added a few models to my list to paint (mostly figures from my bits box that I have assembled into completed models – no new figures purchased )
I have been working hard at getting through the last of my Imperial Guard.

First the four Flamer troopers and a Sergeant I added:
A pair of FW Plasma Gunners completed, using a Veteran head to show the risks of using Plasma Guns.

    The second Veteran Squad finished:

    Four more regular PBI:

Many more shots in my PLOG (link in Sig)

To Paint List – Final Stages Base Coat Completed - Primed - Unassembled – Still in Blister/Box/Closet/Under the Bed
Added since my last update – 1 Advisor, 5 regular Guardsmen, 1 Sergeant, 1 Grenade Launcher, 6 Griffon Crew

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

    Hi

My name is wanderingblade, and I'm a tinboy...

What? That's how you introduce yourself to support groups right?

Anyway. Since returning to the hobby, I've noticed I have a LOT of models. An awful lot of models. And the majority of them, as you'll guess from the title, aren't painted. So, the obvious thing for me to do, was to buy even more...

A lot of the models I've got are in terrible condition. It made more sense to go out and get models in good condition off ebay and here and then someday do something about the stuff I've got... but here comes the catch. Because a lot of the stuff I've ordered off of ebay/here is also unpainted. Now, my friends who are dragging me back, their armies are painted. When I was young, I felt cool to be a tinboy. Crom take all this namby-pamby art stuff, I'm here for the fighting! Well, times change a little. I don't want to be the only guy with an unpainted army at the table. Nor do I want to do waht the others are doing, which is paying someone else to paint their stuff, as I'm well cheap.

Which means I need to recover from my tinboyism. And for that, I'm going to need a lot of help...

    So

    *deep breath*

    Models painted this year

I've nearly finished a Blood Claw. I would have, but I forgot to get any gold paint when at Dark ... whatever it isn't. And while I still have all my old paint... I think... I'm not sure where. Silver would do in a pinch, but all I've got is two pots of Boltgun metal.

I've also got five models in varying states. The problem is there's no real agreed upon colour scheme for Space Wolves at the moment. More grey than blue? Mix of both? Dark or light? So I'm toying around, and suspect I'm going to end up with squads painted in different colour schemes. Atm, I'm leaning towards undercoating with Russ Grey (will probably pick up a spraycan, which will end up lighter at a guess) and drybrushing with Vallejo Sky Blue. But we will see. I haven't really tried out the darker colour schemes yet - the coat dark, drybrush lighter seems a winner though.

So that puts me on six in varying shades of readiness.

    To still go there's

A LR Crusader, a drop pod, two Razorbacks (one in Ultramarines colours), 15 scouts, probably about 50 odd SWs, five terminators, a Rune Priest or two, a very poorly glued Vindicator, ditto on a Rhino and a Whirlwind, a few bikes, I think there's a Land Speeder, a assault squad that will probably become Salamanders. Oh. And a Stormraven Gunship.

Plus about 40 DE Warriors, a couple of raiders, a Talos, two blood bowl teams with another coming, a large unit of Phoenix Guard, 2000 odd points of Orcs and Goblins, some Empire free company, a box of Zombies (I think I brought that for bits)... and probably some other stuff I've forgotten. Like, I'm probably going to sell some of this, but still...

My war has just begun. It may take a while.

edit: Photos coming in a little.

The first Blood Claw - the helmet needs retouching a little to say the least, and some gold is needed to finish all the decals. I also need to feed a good method for wolf fur.

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

The Grey Hunters painted with the Russ Grey/Sky Blue method - think its obvious I need to be more careful or use a spray, but I like the results. Also, first time using black lines to denote cracks and joints.

    wanderingblade,

Now there is a term I have not heard in many a year..."tinboy". Welcome to the group, hopefully this will encourage you in your fight against the armies of silver, white and black.

I have continued working on my Guard...starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I finished my last Infantry Squad:

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

So, hi everyone. My name's Sam.

I just got back into the hobby because between work and school, I'm on the computer all the time. I decided I needed a hobby where I wasn't on the computer. So I'm easing up on the computer and x-box games and getting back into miniature wargaming. Well, after I decided that, I started pulling all my old stuff out of the boxes and while it's not a lot, for someone who hasn't played or painted in 6 or 7 years, I've got a bit of stuff. So I figure this is a good place to post as I work my way through it. I am thinking of starting some paint logs too though.

    Necrons
All painted, my old 40K army, but I decided to do some touch-ups and tweaks to the paint and color scheme. These are what I'm going to work on first.

    2 Necron Lords
    ~50 Warriors
    8 Immortals
    10 Flayed Ones
    5 Destroyers
    11 Scarab Swarms
    Deceiver
And a Monolith, if I can find it >.<

    Space Marines

These are likely to disappear off the list soon, as I'm discussing trading them to a friend for some Orks he has from a starter set. But until that's confirmed, they're on the list, probably third in line. These are all assembled and some are even primed.

    10 Tactical Marines
    5 Assault Marines
    12 Space Marine Bikes
    1 Commander on Bike
    Land Speeder
    Rhino
    Wolf Priest
and a Baal Predator or something. It's not even the complete model. I won it at some raffle or something.

I've considered keeping the Baal and the Rhino for conversion and use with the Orks. We'll see.

    Random assortment of other models
A unit of Gors and Ungors, I think. I don't have the box, and the unit is only partly assembled. It may actually be two boxes of them. I don't know. They're in the queue after I finish the Necrons, mostly because I'm thinking of starting a Beasts of Chaos army.

A box of Dwarven warriors. I think these are either partially assembled or partially primed, but I don't remember. I know I started work on them.

A box of Orc (fantasy) Warriors. These are unopened. They were a gift from a family member, either this past birthday or Christmas. The store they were bought from won't take them back without a receipt (which my family member doesn't have anymore), so I'm going to try one of the FLGS in my area (or both), and worse case, either drop them on e-bay or convert them with bitz to use as 40K Orks.

An old Lizardmen Stegadon, minus howdah. Assembled, unprimed.

A handful of old Lizardmen blister packs. I think it's some terradons and maybe kroxigors. I theoretically have a significant unpainted lizardmen force somewhere, but I fear they've been lost to the Warp.

Hi Sam, welcome to the WPSG...it seems a little quiet around here...sorry. Start your logs and the first feedback you get will spur you on.

I have an update myself. I finished off the last two Snipers, six Griffon crew, Hellhound, Griffon, Leman Russ and Demolisher (last two were not on my list, but they were refreshed with updated painting and repair work)

    Nice work as always Cap'n!

Sword of Caliban, nice to meet you! I love your Dark Angels, they've got that (I think) old school-style paint job going on. They look great! How did you do your red?

I am having some issues guys, I was looking at the IA master class book and it looks like they use a wash before they detail there tanks, so I gave it a go.....

Is this the right idea or is there a better way of doing it? Otherwise it hasn't had anything done to it except catchan green sprayed over a chaos black under coat.

Any idea how I can now fix the pooling, dry brushing could leave brush marks, I can and was thinking of hiding them under some kind of weathering effect, some tactical dust/dirt/mud/scratches.

Also can someone tell me what on earth has caused the silver blobs around the rivets because it's happened to the Leman Russ' too......it's not something that ever happened with Devlun Mud but this is the new agthrax stuff (this is easier to fix but would be better not happening in the first place)

    Many thanks guys

My advice would be to experiment on a bit you are not using (like a dozerblade). Try thinning the Earthshade a bit and really brushing it out in a thin layer.

That "silvering" could be from the angle of (I assume) airbrush. Spraying it almost perpendicular to the surface should help take care of that.

If you add some rust or mud pigments those will vanish as they are located in areas where mud, rust and dust would accumulate.

    Hope that helps,
