Well, some of you may have seen the Ogre I had started on a few weeks ago. Finally I've got round to finishing it. God damn I've got really slow at painting (Can't be bothered) recently... Anywhere, here it is. Spent a long time painting it (a lot of the time figuring out how to paint certain areas of the model) - the white skin takes a long, long time, but I'm quite pleased with it, and a whole Ogre army like this should look pretty impressive. Also bought the new Forge World Giant on Sunday from Games Day to use as a Slavegiant, so hopefully sometime in the near future you'll see piccies of that.

Exo, the time will come, I've not started yet, and while it's not very impressive, it is going to be a bit interesting methinks.

The clue, it involves beastmen, but not entirely .

And Darkness, paint is a bit thick but other than that very cool, the white looks great, a nice surprise, as it had the potential to be rather awful.

here some cheering for all! The WIP squat from my retinue... still lots to do, but he is progressing... that DOW:WA has taken too much time from the painting.

Welcome to the club. Yes, indeed DoW: WA takes much from my valuable time. I still make some progress on my LotR Elves. Hopefully I can complete them in the next week. I also have new photo equipment and I am eager to try it. So, this time it would not take ages for the pictures.

    Have fun,

    Rolf.

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

Okay, okay, I heard your wailing, comrades.

The Sigur has returned and along with him, he brought some WIP shots of his first DE unit.

    full unit
    finished skin

The guys on the second picture show how the finished skintone will look like; the rest of the unit still only has a base of elf flesh. I still got the purple to do, these straps on the spears and accesoirs like the handweapons to do and maybe some more work on the armour. Unfortunately the distance between the models and the spraycan was too big when priming so the whole surface of the models is quite gritty. Silly me.

Well, as you can see I was quite lazy and I even haven't DoW:WA yet.

@ExoCowboy: Usually, I really like your work (also the Inqu. retinue so far) but I'm not too fond of this one. He looks a bit like a 40k version of a dwarfen Slayer and out of proportion. Let's see how he looks after you painted him. (At least I hope that this is a guy ) Where do you have his head from? Doesn't look very GW to me.

    @Sigur:
Nice Spearmen. Very clean and neat.

    @ExoCowboy:
A might be a bit too broad for my liking but an effective conversion none-the-less. Should look good with paint.

Well I'm still working out what I'm going to do with that Dark Elf Highborn I posted earlier. I've also decided to take a small break from converting and just paint some models. I've got 3 which shouldn't take long to do.

The first I started on today:

Exo, don't like the model (at all) but the painting seems to be up to you usual very high standard, great.

Sigur, whilst I would prefer to see you work on your SoB (I joke of course), those are some mighty fine warriors you've got there, love the look of the unit.

Cole, can't say I like the model (too disproportioned, rather the same way I feel about Exo's squat), but it is well painted so far, I look forward to seeing the entire unit when it's all done.

As for me, well I did the painting comp thing, but due to homework and such I never finished, I would appreciate some comments and critism on how far I got, maybe to motivate me into finishing it.

    Anyway, thanks for looking.

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

wow, thanks for the comments. I hope I'll get this unit done soon. There are many more DE who wait to be painted.

@Cole: The painting is very neat, but she looks a bit like a dwarf or halfling or something. Maybe it's the angle of the photography?

@TG: My SoB appreciate your concern. Whatever this is, it's very 40k. I won't get my plasmademon-competition-thing done, it just has something to do with this and this . Well, maybe next time.

Your conversion looks very interesting TG, I'd like it even more if those chainswords were directly attached to the wrists. What is this piece of wire sticking out of this guy's bum gonna be? Is it just to give the loincloth more stability? I'm very eager to see this thing painted.

Anyway, I'm off to bed now. See you guys tomorrow.

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

    Well.
@ Cole, that clevage is almost attractive. Which just shows how little I've been out lately

I have gotten to the stage where I have the entire interior of the plane done, except for the roof. I also have done all the undercoating, and the first coating of the larger parts.
Stuff I'm seeing is really motivating me actually, as I now can't wait till I get on with the models I actually want to paint. Got almost no time to do it in, as I'm working 66 hours(lectures and practicles for my course) a week at the mo.
(BTW the models finish by date has gone forward to next wedensday, so I'll be ok).

    Keep em coming!

    @Sigur and Tzeentchgiant:
That model is a Dwarf Female warrior from the Reaper range. She's actually proportioned well for a dwarf. Part of the odd issue is the head. Reaper models get a little odd in the faces sometimes, looking good at one angle but not at another. Hopefully as the painting progresses she'll look better.

Here's a picture I pulled from The WarStore.com so you can see her better:

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

thanks for the comments! The model is indeed a mordheim dwarven slayer with the hands of ork and one big heavy bolter made. I like the slayers a lot, but as I do not play FB anymore, I needed a reason to make one... so the retinue seemed like a nice way to get him involved. He is much out of proportion, as the arms are huge, but I think his general bad-ass look might take focus out of that Anyways, he seems to divide peoples opinions a lot, lets get him done to see if that continues when the painting is done

@sigur: nice skintones, the unit will look great when finished. Very dark eld... elfish! Keep them coming

@TG: that is one weird looking guy, what will he be gameswise? Looks good so far, I assume the thing from his rear-end will be a tail?

@cole: I kinda like the model and the painting, just great! Especially the skin, looks very real

    Re: WarSeer Painting Support Group

@Cole: I apologize, I was the unaware (and quite tired back then) victim of a minunderstanding when I thought that this was supposed to be a DE Highborn. Now that I know that she's supposed to be a dwarf: she looks very good, hope to be able to achieve similar results at painting skin.

This is a very neat model. Apart from her nosey leaning a bit to the left, the face looks totally okay to me. And what is a Dwarf without a broken nose?

Actually, the idea of using her as a chubby DE Noble appeals to me somehow. She never made it into the ranks of the Witch elves for being too small and due to her "healthy constitution" so she became bitter (even for a DE), joined the Executioners to worship worship Khaine in another way, and hates all High- AND Dark Elves. If any Witch Elf is on the table, she gets frenzied. (just insert some cruel behavior here and there and this makes some viable DE fluff. I'll send it to GW as a suggestion for a new special character)

Well I was thinking along the lines of a traitor guard kill team, but I don't have the rules or the time to complete a squad, but maybe in the future I can knocsomething together.

Also, yes that is a tail, unfinished, what else could it have been?

    Something disturbingly unpleasant

@plasmie: Looks good! Where is the banner from? Gotta get me one of those...
the only thing is that the banner-pole is very... not-straight. could you do it straight, the model would be even cooler!

    Cheers Exo,
The banner is from the ogre kingdoms basic ogre dudes box set, don't know which one exactly because i got it from a bitz box.
The bent banner pole is because of the not yet dried glue. But it's now straight and is being supported by millions of painting pots set up in strategic positions.

I might just continue posting lil' conversions from my IG army, i'll see what I can do

@plasmadaemon: that model looks nice, my only nitpick is the angle of the banner. With the size of it I think it would be too heavy to carry like that. Maybe you could extend the bottom of the pole to be resting on the ground between his legs?
