    What options will we have?

This is addressed to those in charge of this project, namely Nick, TWB, and Wintermute I believe. Sorry if I forgot one of you. I saw alot of requests for weapon options and irregular (i.e. bikers, assault squad, etc.) marines. I know nobody wants to be just a lowly marine armed with a bolter, so my question is: how will we find out what model each of us will be using? I still have to acquire my model, and time permitting would like to try a few simple conversions on it. I need to know what I'm allowed to use before I can really get my model.

    Thanks!

    Curiousity is peaked as well.

I don't mind if we get limited to lowly marines with bolters....

But can does it have to be standard armour? Can we customise bits and pieces, perhaps even weapons? I'm eyeing my Chaos bits for nice ornate shoulder trims...

Re: What options will we have?

The Chapter is a crusading chapter, the individual marines are likely to acumulate some quite unusual trophies and charms. Pertinax has posted his own chapter for inspiration on the Stand and Be Counted thread, look at those guys.
Battle Damage, Pouches, holsters, scabbards, extra ammo, putity seals,
    devotional script etc.
Basically anything goes, this should make even the most mundane bolter marine a bit more fun to make up.
Basically treat your marine like he is you centrepiece, regardless of his armament.

On the subject of Bolter Marines, The very rough very first draught list has just 14 of them in, but his may change depending on traits and additional signups.

14 out of 1k? how is that possible? or are we speaking in 1.5k pts terms?

Well, if I do get into an Assault Squad I'll have to use my namesake weapon (a big sword!), if I do end up as a 'mere' tactical bolter marine, I guess the sword will be in a scabbard.

I think an entire Chapter in one go is a little hopefull, we are trying for a 2k list. My 14 bolter models estimate(not counting heavy weapons, specials and sergeants) works on a simple 2X10 Man Tactical squad principal, reasoning that more of the fun stuff would be preferable to all.

Re: What options will we have?

If the chapter has 'trust your battle brothers' then everyone can merrily convert their model to carry a signature hand weapon as well as a bolter. I'm really keen on this idea as it leaves lots of conversion opportunities open for everyone.

So does each entered member paint up a marine of their own?

Given the fact we have 70 names on the reserved list so far, I would say it's within the realms of possibility that we could make a full Company, we're well over halfway there (guesstimating 120 ish including a bit of support and command staff).

Re: What options will we have?

Well personally I like the thought of being a plain old bolter marine(must be my DA roots). Nothing like a "Lets shread them with sheer mass firepower" mentality.

That said I will be personallizing mine to a decent standard but as not to stand out too much.

Re: What options will we have?

I would recommend that each person who contributes should do a regular bolter armed Marine first, if someone wants to do a special weapon, scout, etc then it should be an additional contribution. (Otherwise we shall end up with an army of special weapons, alien weapons, or bolt pistol and chainsword armed types)

Captain Brown has got it right guys. We should keep it simple, it can be fun being the grunt (albeit genetically enhanced, power armoured, missle firing machine gun equipped, acid spitting, etc....) too! I'm really thrilled. I'm looking forward to making an uber looking standard marine with a banner, trophies, and gnarly archaic power armour!

Other units should come after, heck if someone wants to do a tank... ...they can do it after making their gruntie!

Re: What options will we have?

I'm going to *third* the good Captain here. I think that everyone should have to contribute a regular Marine and (if they wish) the Leaders of this merry band can use them as selection pieces to decide who gets to do the next level and so on. No-one should automatically get to represent the Chapter without proving their worth and abilities.

Of course that means I'll be stuck at Marine level.

If I'm *really* lucky, maybe they'll let me do an Apothecary <crosses fingers> of course I'll have to finish moving and find all of my stuff first. Likely I'll just put my time into a Marine that pays some homage to my DIY Phoenix Templars.
