    Re: Terrain

Ruined Urban is just as easy as Desert to do. Just use different paints!

The basics: Sand up the base, paint black, drybrush shadow grey, drybrush lighter grey...

'advanced': use rough builders sand to get big rubbly chunks, or add some sprue rubbles before painting the base.

Will any kind of final decision be made any time soon? I'm guessing we'll be using city, but color guids would be nice for the sake of uniformity. Not that I'm far enough along to paint, yet, but one should set goals, right????

    Re: Terrain

For city ruins, I would use:

    Undercoat: Chaos Black

    First Highlight: Shadow Grey

    Second Highlight: Codex Grey

    Re: Terrain

Stay tuned for Colours, but we are going with Urban.

As has been said Urban is great for any level of skill, sand or gravel painted appropriately will look like rubble, a little bit of green stuff (or similar) can be applied to make paving slabs/wall etc.

    Two points to remember though
    • Normal bases only, marines on their standard bases please. It will not matter how close we can get the Marines colours or their base colours to match if Brother Black is mounted on a Cavalry Base next to Brother White who got a little carried away and is standing on a Dreadnought base.
    • No vanquished enemies on the Base. For the same reason as above, Brother Blue mounted on his regular base with a little bit of gravel on is fine where as brother Green will look pretty out of place standing atop a fully sculpted possesed Dreadnought of the "Enraged Chinchillas" renegade chapter.

On a personal note, It's a pet hate of mine to see any army with a Vanquished foe on their base (trophies are fine), But to me it seems daft that the Tyranid Tyrant designated as "Big Bug 001" would carry around a lone Ultramarine to shake threateningly at any passing enemy, On the same token Wolflord Thungar the Grey is not likely to haul a dead Khorne Bezerker around to battles, just to stand on.
