    Smile Hive Fleet Bubblegum

One day while I was innocently surfing the net looking at pictures of miniatures, my lady pointed at some tyrannid models and said:

"Those would look cool if they were pink and black."

And so began the invasion of Hive Fleet Bubblegum into Imperial space.
Today I began working on a Genestealer Broodlord and some Genestealer friends for him to run around and be fluorescent pink with.

This is my first web journal so apologies in advance for poor photo quality, infrequent updates or whatever else might go wrong. I have good intentions though!

    Here's today's best WIP shot.

I really wouldnt have thought of pink and black for Nids, But it actually looks pretty good.

Now THAT'S pink... it's almost painful to look at. I can't imagine those genestealers infiltrating anywhere. I do like it, though; keep it up!

They could easily infiltrate into a Slaanesh cult or a Dark Eldar Cabal. They could also probably do a great job of sneaking into a concert for HIM, Senses Fail, or As I Lay Dieing. Pink and Black= Punk Rock/ Emo colors of choice.

I'd say: Buy tentacle pink while supplies last. Will be discontinued in June, may already be impossible to refill shop supply.

I would give the black more highlights and pick out the details, but otherwise I like them a lot!

Daring scheme and I must say: looking good.

It may be the pic, but I think it needs a few highlights on the black and perhaps a bit more shading in the recesses of the pink, but all in all:

I love both Slaanesh and Tyranids, so needless to say I think this scheme is great! Look forward to seeing some bigger beasts and how you plan on basing them.

    Today's Update:

Lots of progress. In fact, I'm out of Tyrranids. Looks like I'll have to buy some more.

First of all thank you all kindly for your generous comments and also for your criticisms. I really appreciate it.

To Bregalad: I actually tried tentacle pink on a test model earlier on, but I decided it wasn't fluorescent enough. Instead, I base coated the entire swarm with Fluorescent Pink spray paint I bought at a hardware store (the kind they use for construction sites). and touched up any messups with Faskolor "Fasflourescent Pink". I highlighted by mixing in skull white.

I followed through with lowlights in Magenta Ink (which I understand will soon be discontinued. Must buy more!)

The black is Charadon granite (needed foundation paint to cover the glowing pink) and today I inkwashed all the black, drybrushed more charadon granite then lightly drybrushed codex grey. Might not show too well in the pictures though.

Can anyone offer suggestions/links for getting really clear miniature photos?

    Also, Basing suggestions anyone?

    Thanks again for feedback,
    Justin

Heh, I actually find myself rather liking this scheme.

I don't think I'd want my nids looking like this, but as colour schemes go it's very striking, as the pink shells and claws contrast well with the black bodies.

Bwa hahahahaha! Well, ye olde 2nd edition genestealers were pink and purple, so this is a classic scheme after all!

    Re: Hive Fleet Bubblegum

As far as the color scheme goes I will be nice and say that is not the scheme I would pic for my Hive Fleet at all.

But looking at those pics of that 'Fex I have to say that although you've done a real simple, non patterned carapace like seems all the rage online today, your painting execution is excellent and looks like your colors are very sharp, your paint applications extremely clean. I love the depth you give to the black skin, it seems very natural/real looking and not something painted just black.

All in all it's really good, despite my dislike of the colors choices I found myself really admiring how well painted it was. Great job.
