i was wondering when we would see things from you guys again XD
I like the slight little conversions of the scouts on the bikes
the addition of all the kit makes them seem really nice and fluffy, although i dont know why scout bikers would be carrying snipers lol, nonetheless they look really awesome

Re: Tale of two painters - Death Korps of Krieg and Crimsons Fists

With the new Imperial Guard codex making it's way over the horizon, I've started to brainstorm on how I will need to reconfigure my Death Korps army (definitely the new Russ variants, in particular the Punisher and the Executioner, will find a place in my list) to keep it mobile(ish) without sacrificing too much firepower. I will have to wait and see how the new Codex turns out before I will do much on them.

That being said, I have not been idle. The new Space Marine codex, and rumors of a new Space Wolf codex have led me to build this puppy. 3 weeks ago I bought my 1000 points of Space Wolves and have been painting furiously since. After 21 days of hard labor, here are the results. We begin first with the (new/not-so-new) workspace shot(s):

    1. Workspace. This is where the magic happens. Pretty simple, I use an illustration board to protect my table from spills, and an overhead transparency as my palette (easily replacable, and it won't knock around). You can see the brushes I use (sorta) in their protective cases. I use Raphael 8404's as my main brushes, size 0 and 1, with a Winsor and Newton 7 Miniature Series, Size 00 for eyes and script.
    2. My dual-screened computer. I use a Macbook Pro, with the secondary window for movies. I keep the computer far back so that paint won't splash onto it.
    3. A pair of fluorescent lamps. They're clean light, and allow me to see true colors (avoid halogen, which give a yellow tint to everything). These are also the lamps I use for taking photographs.
    4. Ah technology. Because my computer is so far away, and I don't want to have to constantly reach over to my laptop, I have both a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse. That way I can just keep the keyboard in my lap and just type as I paint. This is also where my USB hub goes for camera/iPhone charging, portable hard drive, etc etc.
    5. Scented candles for purty smell :P, and a picture of me and my girlfriend.
    6. Spare parts used for conversions.
    7. Space Wolf transfer sheets collected over the years.
    8. Next up on the chopping block.
    9. Toolbox with all my paints, situated right to my left for easy access.. I use a mix of GW and P3 paints.
    10. Primers and basing supplies

Here's what I've finished so far (20 Grey Hunters, 9 Sternguard, 5 Vanguard):

    The iconography I've used:

    Great Company:

    Grey Hunters:

Sternguard (a variation of the Grey Hunters icon). As a side note, all the Sternguard have unique names painted on all the scrolls as well.

    Vanguard

If you want any close ups, by all means ask and I'll try and accommodate. Rhinos to come (hopefully soon).

I've got nothing to say about the painted space marines, except that they're awesomes pices of work. But, where the Krieg guys? Maybe I've missed something...

Great paint job on the space marines anyway.

Lovely looking space wolves. I would be very interested to know how you painted the power armour and what colours you used.

    Thanks

I think the wolves are awesome but they need a splash of dullcoat. The emblems look a bit too shiny!! Just a tiny complaint, other than that! They are awesome.

Wonderful Crimson Fists, neat Space Wolfs, Starks333 and DV8. You both keep amaze me with your commitment to the armies, but as one who never finished one, who am I to talk?
Keep the good work up and I'll look forward to that rhino.

the krieg were on hold as DV8 lost interest in 40k for a bit after 5th came out...but ive broken him back in hahah

they are next after the gaming table from what i hear, obviously awaiting the new codex before anything else is done

the fists are done, and sold actually, the owner seemed to like them quite a bit, which makes me quite happy

the scorpions have been quite simple but effective i think, i was going to make mods all over but decided to just go for basic simple mods to keep them neat and interesting but quick and easy....the master of the forge however is around 20 some pieces of metal...and will make my pin vices bleed

im close to having the majority of the assembly done, and will begin airbrushing within the next 2 weeks by my guess, so expect some action soon

The Wolves are flawless, really refreshing to see somebody use vanilla marines models for them

Got to agree with the other comments....the wolves look really good, love the subtle additions you've made to tie in the 'vanilla' marines to the theme!

Re: Tale of two painters - Death Korps of Krieg and Crimsons Fists

It's looking great guys! I love the space wolves, I do agree that the transfers a bit shiney still, but you've still managed to apply them to shoulders without wrinkles which is awesome. What approach did you use for weathering the rhino?

All this work being done by you two is kinda showing me that I need to get a move on with my stuff! I've just been working on a commission for the last bit and haven't touched any of my own stuff unfortunately.

I too am waiting on the guard codex before I really work on the guard portion of my army again, all I know is it's going to incorporate Valkyries... lots of Valkyries, the new plastic model is sweet!

That being said, I've got sitting in front of me all the vehicles for my marines and some of the infantry that I need to get to building, let alone painting!
