Here is the FAQ as promised.
Is there anything I've missed?
It's all pretty much been hammered out, still plenty of room for new recruits though.
Why is Warseer organising a Space Marine Chapter?
As we are a Wargaming based community it seems only natural to represent ourselves individually and as a community. It'll be fun too.
Where do I register to donate?
Here Vote in the appropriate slot to help us gauge how many people are planning to take part.
Where do I register my Space Marine name?
Here and Here to check the Name you want hasn't been booked already. Remember, you don't need to restrict yourself to the usual latinised names.
What type of Space Marine can I donate? Can I donate a Veteran Space Marine? Can I donate a Commander, Librarian, Chaplain, Techmarine, Servitor, Apothecary or Standard Bearer? Can I donate a Space Marine Tank?
The models you can supply are listed below.
Admins/Mods: HQ models. Also people who prove to be particularly helpful will be offered a promotion.
Guilders: Veteran Company including Veteran Command squad and Terminators. Veteran sergeants.
Members and Guilders: "regular marines": bolter guys, assault squad and Devestator squad Marines, scouts and Servitors. Anyone can volunteer to cover some of the more specialist stuff such as vehicles, but obviously that is a significant expenditure on your part, which is why we aren't asking for such models.
Can I donate a Dreadnought or even a Venerable Dreadnought?
Yes. Any person wishing to donate a Dreadnought to the chapter may choose to be a Venerable Dreadnought, or not. It's a vehicle and would therefore be covered by the "only if you really want to" rule. There is a limit of two Dreadnoughts per company.
Can I donate a Deathwatch Marine?
Yes, but the Deathwatch Marine must fit these criteria
* A Deathwatch Marine MUST be a Bolter armed marine (sergeants may be Deathwatch as long as they carry a bolter).
* DW marines are limited to 5 per company (first come first served)
* People who want to produce a DW marine must produce a small piece of background to be placed in Name reservation thread with their Marine name (edit your post).
Remember, when writing your marine's Background, that no record of actions before becoming the Warseers has been located and that the chapter itself will not discuss the matter.
Can I supply a converted Space Marine?
Please do. We are encouraging people to be as adventurous with their marines as they like but obviously we have to have some limits.
* Correct Bases please. These models will be featured in an army that will be used in tournament condition games, all models should be based on their correct sized bases.
* WYSIWYG. This should be considered as a guideline rather than a rule, usually this only comes into play when a model is carrying something that is different to the squad norm (heavy weapons, for example) in these cases the model should represent what he is carrying to avoid any confusion, but if a model is obviously a "mundane" bolter marine, you have a little more room to play. But remember that this army is intended for actual use.
Where do I send my completed Space Marine?
Watch This space, there will be an announcement when this is sorted out.
What Traits are we taking?
The Warseers have the Courageous Trait. The advantages are "Trust your Battle Brothers" and "see but don't be seen". The disadvantage is Eye to Eye.
What Colour(s) do I paint my Space Marine? What is the Chapter Symbol?
A full list of Colour schemes for various units and Vehicles can be found along with a colour Guide and the Chapter Badge Here.
What base detail can I add?
An "Urban" theme was voted as the favourite, basically, think Cityfight and you're on the right tracks. The Marine shouldn't be too high off the base, the rule of thumb is no higher than about 10mm.
Again, it's worth noting that models should be mounted on their appropriate sized bases.
Where can I get the Chapter Symbol?
We are working on how to best get them distributed.
What is the schedule for the Chapter?
With all of the important decisions made all we really need to do is establish who's marine goes where, check the sign-up threads on the BattleBarge.
Will someone be using the army at the next Warseer Tournament?
Ideally yes, we'll see how well we do at mustering the troops first though
What will we do with the army when it’s completed.
It will be maintained at HQ, it might well tour.
Can I still contribute a Space Marine when the army is completed?
We will be hard pressed to assemble an entire chapter. Please feel free to contribute, The project will be ongoing. But bear in mind that later contributors will have less option of what to contribute.
Can Warseer Communities donate a Squad? If I donate a Space Marine to a Warseer Community Squad, can I also donate a Space Marine by itself?
Groups are donating together and groups are arranging their own squads too. If you are in one of WarSeer.com's community groups feel free to join up to their squads OR have a look at the Campaign Badges, many Groups can be represented on a marine without having to be in a particular squad. In the interests of balance, please only one marine each.
What is the fluff (background) of The Warseers Chapter?
The Warseers are a Crusading chapter with no known homeworld, they travel the borders of imperial space answering any call for assistance even when other Chapters have remained aloof, this means the chapter is rarely at full strength. This has also earned the chapter many Friends and many Enemies.
The Warseers have struggled to keep their numbers up due largely to their participation in repelling Abbadon the Despoiler's 13 Black Crusade.
