    Thanks.

The hull is not really a 'pattern' in the vain of Mars or Ryza. It's a custom vehicle crafted by the somewhat radical Techpriests that accompany this specific AC (Mosa Legion) into battle . Still working on the fluff.

Waft! I take it the bit at the back is the "comandiness" (akin to the interior of a damocles Rhino). Very sweet model.

Does make me wonder where the engine is, however...

Nice conversion Kaaijer, excellent work on the hull. But like Getz says, where's the engine go?

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

I guess the engine could have been relocated in three different ways: beneath the Commander's commandcenter, further to the front of the hull, or into the sides of the tank, the area where the tracks are located. Maybe the engine is redesigned and divided onto those areas of the hull.

I don't really know, and I don't really care. XD

EDIT: some more wip-shots. The green is pretty much finished, I'm thinking of one final highlight for that extra definition.

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

Alright! Ive been meaning to post in this thread for a while.

    I am a treadhead

Attached are some photos of the tanks I have photographed.

The first large picture shows the Armour section of the Catachan division of my Guard army (although you can only see the very end of the Chimera and Rhino).
    Included in this division is:
    -3 Sentinels
    -1 Standard Russ
    -1 Scratch-Built Baneblade
    -1 Exterminator
    -1 Demolisher
    -1 Chimera
-1 Rhino (technically SoB, but attached)

Since then, the Cadian division has expanded and I have gained tanks which have not been photographed in their finished states.
There are some WIP photos attached though. These are the Vanquisher, which is the Cadian main battle tank, an Executioner turret which I dont have a hull for yet but will purchase in the future, and some pictures of my Hellhound conversion.

    Currently the Cadian division includes:
    -1 Vanquisher
    -1 Chimera
    -1 Hellhound
    -1 Griffon Mortar
    -1/2 Executioner

Being worked on at the moment, to add to the Cadian forces, is:
    -1 Sentinel
-1 FW Manticore, which ive just finished magnetising this evening so that it has movable 'arms' and removable missles.
    -1 FW Hydra emplacement.

Neither of the FW models will have turrets glued, that way i can either have Hydra Emplacement + Manticore Tank or vice versa.

No, none of this is Armoured Company. While I COULD field one, they are sort of retarded to play with/against except for on special occasions. I just have a big Guard army .

And I think I now have every tank thats ever been in a Guard codex, barring a Basalisk which I think is retarded to use on the front lines. Still, I suppose Ill end up getting one for the sake of completion .

Id also like another standard Russ (only one in the entire Army!) and another standard Chimera. And a bloody hull for the Executioner...

Ah, the joys of Armour! Ill probably get some pics of the Cadian paint scheme soonish.

Hey, 'nid? Could you a PM me a basic tutorial on your executioner? I've always wanted one, but think that the FW model is guff. Cheers in advance.

Rather nice all that! like the interior detail on the hell hound (which reminds me I must get my FW copied one finished). Agree whole heartidely on the executioner tutorial please!!!!! and while your at it more on that baneblade as well. I've been wanting to do one for ages (rude not to really) and whilst I have a turret I'm pretty happy with, (based on a 1.35th panther) its knowing where to start on the hull that is stumping me.
    Great stuff.

I used to have a scenery piece which was an oil refinery with drinking straw pipes . . . paint flaked horribly after a while . Go with the varnish is my recommendation

Try Car Primer, it's quite agressive so use it sparingingly, but I doubt that would flake of even plastic straws. Just make sure you test it before spraying a model...

Yeah, fair call, I suppose your right. In my defense, I did have a moderater attached such as 'kind of' or 'mildly' i believe... Just think they are a bit silly when the opponent isnt prepared or in a standard battle.

Robot:I suppose terrain would probably take a bit more of a beating than an actually miniature would. Still, Ill give it a varnish when i get the chance.

Old Guard: The Baneblade I sort of played by ear with. The tracks were basically two Russ tracks stuck together in both length and width (I managed to get two Demolishers about half-price each). The turret, again, is a doubled russ turret, although I think its still a bit small. As for the hull... I had lots of pictures of Baneblades, and I used plasticard to emulate the FW baneblade as much as possible. No plans, no templates, just whacked the card together .

Ok! As far as the Executioner Turret Tutorial goes, here it is. Mind you, Im working from memory so it will be necessarily rough.

Firstly the 'body' of the cannon is made up from a part from a Leman Russ. I believe this is the storage box that usually goes of the back. The component has three sides and a splayed bottom. Chop off the parts that stick out, just leaving the three rectangular sides. Then you will want to find a bit of plastic/plasticard to use as the back part. Stick the body to the base.

Next, bring out your greenstuff, and roll it up and plonk it on the top, this will be the 'plasma coil'. Smooth this into a dome approximating the shape you wish, but a bit smaller. Alternatively, find abit of plastic in the right shape. Once this has dried, put another layer of greenstuff over this (thinner this time). Press into it with a knife, running it from one side to another. Done properly, this will form curved ridges that work as the coil. Leave to dry.

For the 'nozzle', find some tubes or something. I think I used two bits of circular sprue bits of different size. Glue these to the end of the body. Then make a shape out of greenstuff for the 'head', around the nozzles and over the coils a bit. Then its a matter of using a smooth, round sculpting tool to press in to the sides of the 'head' for vents, and use a knife to put neat lines on the top/side/whereever looks cool.

On the bottom of the body, do another curved area and stick some sort of power unit jutting out the bottom. My pictures dont show my version of this, sadly.

Finally, attach your creation to a cut-down barrel, and use greenstuff/plasticard to 'meld' the two together. Cut little round bits off spare track pieces (of course you have these!) to use as rivets and generally pretty the thing up.

Dont know how clear that was, but Im happy to answer specific questions you may have.

I wouldn't necessarily call me self a tread head (I like tanks but I can't paint them very well). However, I have got a rather amusing picture of my dreadnought attacking some fire warriors (see attachment).

On a slightly different scale... Here are my SiegeMaster tanks so far; 6 Ragnoraks, 6 Siegfrieds and one StormHammer (I've got another half painted). I've also got some Bombards still to do.

Good old stormhammers, havnt seen one in quite a while. Does anyone else think that the rangnoraks, and siegfriends may be realesed when FW does the siege book for imperial armour, id for one would like to see some new tank models. The rangnoraks are very KV-2 ish. Anyone tried to convert one? Nice tanks stug, i envy your skills with the brush.

Anyway work on my chimera has been potponed due to chritmas and the length of time FW take to deliver stuff, i need a few parts i dont wanna convert, mainly my new heavy turret. Sorry i cant post pics my baby daughter gave my digital camera a bath!
