@ sovietred: Welcome back, Mate ! Great looking medusa, didnt know the FW parts worked so well with yours.

@ big c: I like it ! Havent seen a mix of predator/landraider before, cool.

@ ariobarzanes: Like the aguila wings on the sides. Will you add some sort of missiles to the launchers or just paint the interior black ?

@ Tinners: Sweet ragnarok. Like your "chimera, but not really" sides. Guess someone learned to bend plastic strips
Like those PaK wagen/salamanders, that consept worked even better.

Painted some more on the malcaruss. Just got the crew and some details left. Hope i get it done this weekend.

I gave up on the Kv-5 style thing shortly after the idea popped into my head, just didnt look right. Got 23 of the kv-2 type turrets sitting lol.

    Hi,

The modified land raider with turret posted just a few posts before reminded to eventually post this picture of a sort of space marine super heavy, some may try to do a conversion. It's 3D stuff, so remove it if it's out of place.

A rotating turret with such a gun may be totally useless game-wise, I don't know. I kind of ran out of ideas for the turret design and never really finished it. Also the idea is that it's full of sensors and cameras in all directions so the crew is pretty much enclosed (except at the top). In my mind the back of the turret was supposed to be a pivoting missile launcher, sort of like the mammoth tank from Red Alert. The plasma tank are at the back of the turret for easy replacement, whatever. Had I finished it, I would probably have removed the fuel tanks at the back, and replace them with whatever suggests a more advanced propulsion system.

I may post a few more renders if some are interested, but the back lacks details.

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

A while ago I was given a Basilisk by a friend and have finally gotten around to refurbishing it. He'd given it just about every upgrade imaginable... except the one I wanted to it to have: a camo net. So I dismantled, stripped, reassembled and repainted it. Had to use a heavy bolter from the heavy weapons team as the one already in place was beyond saving and the mechanism that holds the barrel up when its raised was shot too, so I magnetised that. The camo netting is medical gauze... hope I don't cut myself too badly any time soon, cos now I'm out. Anyway, a before and after pics.

    Nets look good!

And that space marine tank looks awesome, tho the paint job looks a bit clean.

And Sdfkz, you really do win.

And I think this looks good with a russ style turret

@ andyg2006: Try to get back to working on your models........please

@ Falk: Now thats a cool marine tank ! Would take some elbow-grease to get that one on the gamestable.

@ matt_17: Looks like youve had your hands full. Looking good !

@ Tinners: OH yes, the russ turret looks even better on that chassie.

This time your right, Tinners. Its done, I WON !
Here are the pics. to prove it.

Very pleased with the final result. Hope you like it too.

Now, got a problem.........this is airbrushed black and then just touched by my fingers (no rubbing), what do you do to make the paint stay in place ?

Ive tried washing with alsors of detergents, all to no use

Anyone got any good ideas ?

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

most airbrush paints need to be painted over a primer or the paint wont stick properly.

scrub the black off, and give it a going over with a spray PRIMER (not just any regular colour) from a car paints range ( i use halfords ) then go over that with paints.

its always a good idea to prime your resin.

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

I've found that a ~15 minute soak in Fairy Power Spray can loosen Citadel paint enough that a scrub with a toothbrush will take it off, but I've no idea how the resin will react. To back up what DangerousBrian said, I've found the Halfords Grey primer to be (a) a sight cheaper than Citadel, (b) nicer to use since it doesn't seem to tend to powder up anywhere near as much as Skull White and (c) far more flexible than straight white or black primer.

@Bla_Ze - I like those tanks. The grey paint job is really well done. I find that most times I see tanks painted grey just look like the original unpainted plastic, these look spectacular, though.

@SDKFZ - I know you said this tank commander is from a Malcador, but do you ever make your own crew from guardsmen bits? I ask because your tank crews seem to always be interesting and unique.

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

Thank you everyone for the nice comments, that makes me glad.

@tomxj & SDKFZ: I added a simple guide at the end.
@matt_17:They are even more vibrant IRL becuase my camera kinda washes em out.
@OnnO: I made it myself, its got a lot of beams and cables and stuff sticking out so i dont think you can cast it.

The techniques are quite easy. Simply Codex and Fortress grey airbrushed colour modulation style, chardonite scratching and chips by using a sponge and paint brush. Some chips and scratches have bolgun metal in them for deeper damage.
Black oil wash and pin wash, more or less.

@Bla Ze, those sentinels are works of Art.
    And the tanks are snappy.

@ SDKFZ, wow man, you did a great job on that Baneblade. Quite the excellent outcome. I am impressed Brother!

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

@ matt_17: Thanks ! Yepp, your right. I normally use bits from all sorts of guard kits to make my crews. Mix and match, and add some swearing

@ Bla_Ze: Thanks alot for sharing

@ Tinners: Sooo, you plan to cast the trackunits aswell, good boy

@ razormasticator: Thanks, Mate ! Just dont get what ive done thats "wow" ? All i did was build it "out of the box. Have you had any problems with yours ?
Building wasnt an issue, painting.......well we just have to wait and see.

Primed it yesterday. Hope to airbrush it tonight. Then comes the drybrushing and we will see if the paint sticks or flakes off.......

    Wish me good luck !
