Kinda like how I kept calling my Macharius Vanquisher "Overlord" after the tank in C&C Generals, just to keep my enemy guessing up until the match when I fielded it against him...

I've just received two of the Russian guntracks from the game Dust Tactics today, to use as Valhallan mortars! They're a tad too small to seriously call Griffons, so I think I'll just call them Heavy Mortars. Wonderful kit, and only $40 each compared to $80 for a Basilisk.

I also got myself a British commando/walker team for playing actual Dust Tactics, but that's another game not for here

That doesn't mean I've completely binned the idea of steel wheels though, I just need to try and make my own master and see what it looks like

Good point, well in that case the rims on the smaller ones are more "pimpin" than the large ones, so go with them

Went down into the games room the other day and found this old conversion I did for my old guard army, so I thought I would share.

I would like to proudly present "Betty"....

I like it, I've just had a flood of tank ideas pop into my head using those.

Very cool. Any chance of a photo next to a Leman Russ or a Chimera, to judge size?

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

    Hello, my name is f2k and I'm a Tread-head...

Well, I must be... Because, having had a rummage through my box'o'bitz, I have uncovered evidence of quite a bit of heavy armour.

Now, these are ancient beasts. The oldest of them, as I recall, are from the original release of the Leman Russ.

For a while I was toying with the idea of doing an Armoured Company - way back when it was just an unofficial White Dwarf list - but time and other commitments killed that idea. And so these tanks have been stuck on the bottom of the bitzbox for years and years, all but forgotten.

Having gathered all kinds of small bitz'n'pieces, I think that the four hulls to the rear will - with a bit of work - go together as four complete Russ'. The two piles of plastic to the front are more interesting. On the left are the remains of an attempt to create a longer and wider Russ, using two sets of tracks on each side and a longer hull, glued together from two Russ'. On the right are what looks like one and a half Chimera - possibly two with a bit of creative gluing.

    Man, those bring back memories...

Thats a nice stack of tank parts youve got there Love to see what you can turn them into, i know you wrote what you think theyll build up to, but seeing the tanks will be alot more fun for a fellow thread-head such as myself

Good luck and get to work !

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

I will - as time permits. I just figured it would be funny to have that picture to look back on when, hopefully, I've got them all done.

The current plan is to integrate them into my upcomming Nurgle-aligned Traitor Guard. That also gives me an opportunity to cover any missing pieces with goo and rust. Nurgle, I feel, would approve of that.

Although, given that this is the Imperial Guard Tread-heads thread...

If you're looking for cheap and available high caliber rounds for a diorama, objective marker or just to add detail to an artillery piece, I can recommed Trumpeter 21cm and 17cm artillery rounds (06609 and 06610)
I've been looking for 1/35 ammo for a while since I'm a fan of real life big guns and those baneblade rounds or booby traps from GW simply won't do (mainly because they look more like oversized pistol ammo)

Both kits come with turned brass rounds and cases which is a nice bonus, maybe the 21cm offers more bang for buck as there are 18 plastic projectiles and 12 shells, plus 6 propellant bags and the same number of lids

My trusty cadian friend included for scale purposes, now it's time to make those artillery crews
