Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

A couple of photos of recent additions to my guard army. I've had some time off work and have been saving the Shadowsword for this week.

If you recall a while ago I posted a couple of tanks I made to act as guards for the Shadowsword whilst recharging its capacitors. I felt it also needed for anti aircraft protection and as I did not have a Hydra available thought I'd convert something to fill this roll. Not sure what to call it yet though? It is not finished but here is a photo of it so far.

I'll post some more pictures when it is done.

Shadow Sword is looking pretty cool, could probably call the other vehicle...I don't know actually but the name Black Widow keeps popping in to my head.

Very crisp colour scheme on those tanks.

How did you model ERA armor on those chaos tanks?

@ sovietred. I love your stuff. I like how dirty you make your black look.
for "beyond" are the sponsons magnetized? I noticed the bottom photo does
not have one but the photo above it does. I also like the stoage on the back
of beyond, where did those come from?

SovietRed Nice tanks, nice tank commander! What are those fuel cans from on the rear of the Exterminator? They fit the rear of the Russ so well.

Desert Thunder Black Widow sounds good to me. Where is it from? I'm not sure I've heard of that one i relation to a tank'ish vehicle?

I have managed to get some more done last night and it is nearing completion. Have fitted little atch in open position above the middle section where all the pipes etc are. (The bit on the new hull section with the Hellhoud kit.) I am going to have to make up some sort of smaller tractor to carry spare rockets and load them. Not sure what to use yet. may just make a trailer?

Also attached is photograph of Baneblade and Shadowsword on my bench.

    Thank you guys.

The stoage come from my old 1/48 Panther G.

Magnetized? No, I just used the Removable Adhesive.

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

Here is a link, (Hopefully it works?) to a short video I've just put on Youtube with most of the latest guard armies Leman Russ tanks. I say most I've still got one t make, (Not sure what to make it as? May leave it until I can think of something to convert it into. I am tempted to go for the Atlas / Trojan type of thing.) and also there is a LR Tank Destroyer from FW but the batteries in the camera died.

I have more tanks for the army and am turning my attentio to the artillery next as have not done much to that recently. But I am being tempted away bycouple fo Chimera and armoured fist squads! Damn, really must get those Basalisks done!

Anyway, enough waffle. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyK4kIlEEnw

Major Soma: Is that a Basalisk at the back right hand side in your photographs? Do you have any close ups of it? I am almost definately going to go for the enclosed look, but not sure exactly how I want them to look. Yours looks a little bigger than those I've seen so far.

It is indeed a bassi and she's had several encounters so far as for pics I'll take some close ups as soon as possible....I am finally finished converting it much to my wife's relief

Wow Diter, those look great. I like the colors used in your camo and the
red lenses stand out just enough not to stand out if you get my meaning.

Jebus you guys! These tanks are freaking sweet!

@Sovietred, I'd be interested in seeing a closeup of your weathered black or perhaps an explanation. I've been needing to weather some black models for some time now.

Well a black widow is a spider native to most parts of the world, the one I was thinking of was it's Australian varient, which has a red, orange stripe going down it's back. Any way the point is this spide has a cool name and matches the description of you vehicle.

Ah, that Balck Widow. I was thinking maybe some current day army had a missile system called after the spider and perhaps it looked similar. Good name though, I may adopt that.

Those are really nice! I agree with BigJon: your red lenses look fantastic. I like the color of the tracks, too.
