IIRC the Churchill also had them, and I forget if the Cromwell had similar track layout.

cool, so either exhausts or mud chutes- so as long as i paint them dirty and weather them up in one way or another they won't look wrong. thanks guys
This is my attempt at a castable utility tractor that can be used in a variety of ways. I call it the "Boar".
Fits in well with my Winter themed 23rd Drogans as it a kind of cross between a Snocat and tractor.

Actually, if you look you'll see that the Churchill did not have mud chutes because you dont need them when you have the track running across the top of a hull pannier as the mud cannot fall on the suspension below - which of course is a feature the Churchill has in common with the Chimera, meaning the Chimera doesn't need mud chutes either.
The Matilda II had mud chutes, as did a number of interwar designs like the A1 Independent and by the Japanese and Russians, but as a rule they had disappeared by WWII.

It's basically an M548 isn't it?

It's a turret. A TURRET! Got it? There is no such thing as a turrent.
A little something for my IADN should I ever play Apocalypse with multiple flyers. Manticore SAM vehicle concept based on SA-8 Gecko.
I'll have a picture of the complete AAA, SAM and radar network sometime later this weekend.

@ SD: Nice AA-tank ! Like those wheels......where did you get those from ?
@ DD: Cool Truck. Been thinking of building a truck for ages but never got around to it.
Yours look very nice and very 40K.

I agree. Always bugs me there isn't a truck in 40k. I tend to use things like this as background scenic pieces or objectives, though with a few basic modifications, easy stand in for say flak hydra...

@DigitsDavid: They look really good! I might have opted for a smaller return roller, but I like the overall design. What sort of resin do you use?
@SDKFZ: I believe the side plates and wheels are from Chapterhouse Studios' Chimera conversion kit, though SanguinaryDan has adapted it to his own hybrid chassis.

Really like those tractors. I also think there should be more utility vehicles for the IG, even for most races. I have quite a few little tractors I've built for towing ammunition, fuel and heavy mortars and so on. They add character even if they are not of any game value. These ones are very nice though.
Doomengine... very nice Russ.
DigitsDavid... I really dig those tractors, was there any particular reason you chose for a less "heroic" scale proportion?
I made the master for that... if you want to read the design blog: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum...st/275225.page

Yup, I wanted a utility tractor, not a tank. Especially as in most games it will be a scenic piece rather than a fighting vehicle.
