Thread: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

@SanguinaryDan: I like the ADN idea, maybe I should put the radar vehicle in plan lol; and the SAM launcher reminds me of RedAlert 2.

@SDKFZ: So happy to see the finished Hedgehog, I especially like the abrade in the barrels. May I quote these pics to my website?

@SSG Snuffy: Looking forward to your comment

    @ Sovietred: Please do !

I feel very flattered that you want to use mine as a inspirational model.

Glad you noticed my try at some "wear and tear".

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

I think it's a very favorable comparison... seeing the two side-by-side (courtesy of SanguinaryDan and SDKFZ) is a real treat. The Forge World version's turret looks like that of the Flakpanzer Gepard, whereas the Ratgard version resembles (to my eyes) the Chinese Type 95. I like the hull modifications that go with the Hedgehog, though SanguinaryDan has proven that they aren't necessary to use the turret.

The Hedgehog turret has more unadorned flat surfaces, and seems to lack some of the intricate detail that the FW Hydra has... this is neither good nor bad, just different. The turret is slimmer, shorter, and smaller, with shorter and less massive gun barrels. I agree with SDKFZ that the Hedgehog has a more modern look than the FW Hydra. In fact, I think the Hedgehog would look great combined with a Chapterhouse Rapid Response wheeled kit, whereas the Hydra turret would look funny.

In short, I believe I'm going to start dropping hints for the missus... I'd very much like to add a Hedgehog to my IG force.

EDIT: I almost forgot! SDKFZ, those are a couple of really nice models. Great work, sir, and thank you for sharing the pictures!

Love the work that's been added, it really does a nice job.

I have a thought for that Search Radar as a counts as rule - The Signum from the Space Marine Devastators Entry - in lieu of shooting, it boosts a unit member's BS up to 5. Good for when you want something very dead very fast.

Leviathans are easy....Got about 70 billion of them

IG tracks would fit, but I'm just gonna fill the spaces with acrylic resin/pigment mud, No point wasting something,

Reminds me of the old Predator turrets.

Tinners really is the Leonardo of plastic-card isn't he? I love everything about it... Well, other than the Indianapolis Colt's logo on the glacis plate.

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

Well I can't think of a better thread to post these and get some much needed feedback.

I've been unhappy with the standard Russ turret size for a while, especially on my Demolishers (I have the original massive bore gun). How is anyone supposed to load those guns with the commander sitting right behind the breach? So I finally got around to doing something about it.

    Old Demolisher turret

    New Demolisher turret

I wanted the current shaped cupola on it so I could mount a storm bolter or heavy stubber so I needed to file off the cast on cupola and then grind it out so the new cupola fit. Like this

I also wanted the same turret company wide so everything looks uniform so I cut down some Stygies VIII guns and glued them back on as well as cutting of the co-axial storm bolter.
My problem is what do I put in place of the storm bolter? I've considered putting a searchlight or a co-axial stubber there, but I think it needs some sort of sight like from the space marine predator autocannon mantlet. Thoughts?
