@ andyg2006: Good to hear that its not just Jacka and me whos been playing with tin and plastic men for far to long
Glad to hear that you like the leviathan. Trojans, well if youve got enough (is that right ?) normal tanks you start to think about the supporting ones.
I have made all the turrets removable and some of the other stuff aswell. Luckely ive not got a super hard cammo so my tanks paint up rather easy.

@ Sauragnmon: Thanks, it helps having some more nerds here. Great to hear that you working on that many armies at once. Wish i could do that. My marines and orks would love me......

@ Tankgirl: Like the others allready said, welcome ! Cool to see a girl around here, and one who does tanks Just great ! Like that you also build a rhimera. I do like them, but you dont see them alot.
Is that stormlord going to get a major overhaul ? Noticed the chimera door at the back. Will it be an enclosed version ?

How, what colors, will you paint your tanks in ?

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

@AndyG2006 - yes, Six... well actually Eight, but the other two, Nids and Orks, don't have a whole lot of stuff, they're tinkerings. Well, the Orks have a few squads done, but I shelved them because I didn't have space (new shelves going up, now I'll have space, the irony.) I'm not sure whether it's Attention Deficit Disorder or something else, but the Big Six are over 2k points each. I just collect the stuff that catches my eye, and it kinda balloons from there.

@SDKFZ - Compliments for having that many is kind of odd, but thankyou. It's nice to have props for being as insane as I am with collecting my armies.

@Tankgirl - I love your hybrids - the Rhimera (that's the typical term for the Chimera with Rhino Sides), your Lemanera (the Russ sides on a Chimera) and your Chimeruss (Chimera Sides on a Russ) are all quite interesting. I never really thought of those combinations... I might have to play around with the configurations of my upcoming Exterminator and Eradicator Russes that are in the pipeline... those look pretty cool, I might consider a lower-profile Leadstorm Exterminator just for style. Very inventive work, paint should really add to them!

Yeh looks great, it always amazes me how a coat of primer or as in your case base colour, helps tie everything together, making it hard to see whats kit, and whats scratch built.

awsome build, looking forward to seeing it finished.

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

Thanks everyone for the words of praise

@ SDKFZ The Stormlord it seemed weird that a vehicle supposed to carry 40 men had no proper ramp so I just shoved a spare hatch on it, all I need to finish it (when payday comes) is a Baneblade upper hull and turret to mount the Mega Bolter on and an extra set of sponsons which are built up in the box butI'm still deciding on the positions and I'm going to use lots of hatches to count as the firing platform I guess I'll just make the details up as I go its worked for me so far

@ Sauragnmon I get bored when I build according to the instructions (I went back and remodelled my Baneblade, it was vanilla when I first built it) when I was doing my Vanquisher I'd seen Russes with Chimera tracks on several models and decided to copy them but afterwards I was left with a perfectly good Chimera hull and Russ tracks unused, in all the pages I looked at I'd never seen that combo so I built it who knows maybe I'm the first to try it (I doubt I am the first but Hana Pattern Chimera has a nice ring to it )

any suggestions on the colour scheme would be great I was thinking Steel Legion standard camo (my infantry are wargames factory greatcoat shocktroops with Cadian arms) or maybe just something in nice simple dark grey

PS: at the suggestion of Colonel Jacka I now have a project log showing whatever pile of tank parts I'm currently throwing together

Nothing wrong with thinking outside the plans, Tankgirl - I've got model ships and aircraft that I altered and tailored on my 40k hiatus time. Creativity spawns all manner of interesting things. As to Camo, I'm not sure what to suggest, really - you could go for a dark "Ashworld" style camo to accent the Shock Troops design - I had worked on a camo of Grey over Black before switching to my current pattern.

@ Tank Girl, some really cool stuff you have there. I really like the Chimera Hatch on the Stormlord. Great Idea...and some of your turrets are very cool as well.

@ Tinners... loving the commissar's pimp wagon!

@ razormasticator Thanks it just seemed logical and the turrets just looked wrong especially the bolter ones the co-axel stubber really improves it's aesthetics and it suits the Armageddon regiment ideas of enclosed vehicles

PS: look at the drivers hatch on my Russ tracked Chimera free internets to the first five that get it right if you can guess where I got it from

Looks like the hatch from the tank accessory sprue to me from what I can see. Unless you are talking about the fore plate, in which case it looks like the mounting plate that goes behind the Heavy Bolter on the Chimera turret. I just did that myself actually for a Hellhound I am working on. Welcome to the boards, BTW, new blood is always welcome.

The big push log things. I figure it'll be easier to use wood for that.

Re: The Imperial Guard Tread-head thread

That Army will be a real eyeopener, when done, Mate !

After reading your Armylist i thought: - Well why dont i post what im working on, then.

So, i give you the 211th Tulean Super Heavy Regiment.

This is how it looks atm. Ill replace the old Shadowsword and the old Baneblade. Models bought and just waiting for me to build and paint them.

Loads of heavies there, me thinks.
