I'd love to start a WotR army, but have to raise the money. Probably by selling my other armies, one by one. Right now, I'm just pouring in all the time I've got to turn unpainted lead into profit.

Your Telion looks amazing I love the head choice. He looks much cooler.
Painted in one morning (I'm getting faster!):

I really enjoyed painting this model and quite fancy painting another. I chose to do him in a lighter shade of grey, both to foreshadow his apotheosis and to show off the fantasitc textures of this awesome Perry sculpt. If you've never painted a Gandalf and you fancy yourself as a painter, then this is the one to do!
I also painted his base to represent the ground of the Mines of Moria.
More randomness on the way!

Heh. More AoBR fun. Not as good as the UM, IMO. The Blood Red went shiny, so I had to varnish the lot. Then I went back and Matt Varnished the flesh and fabric, but it stayed a bit shiny. Harumph. And I should have given him a custom base, too.

Great Gandalf, very natural and subtle shading and highlighting.
The LOTR range has soem great sculpts.
True. It also has some dreadful sculpts. The Gondor Citadel Guard are almost impossible to paint nicely. But the named characters are mostly solid bets.

This one was fun to paint!

I've always like the ambiguity of Aenur's alignment. I enjoyed painting this one so much that I think I might try to get one or two more of these models and do them in High and Wood versions. Now I think of it, I'd love to do him in a 40k version, too, with a bit of converting.
Anyway, there was so little metal exposed that I thought he'd also be a good opportunity to experiment with some of them fancy NMM techniques that the Continentals are always yammering on about. First effort: not bad, but could be better. I don't plan on doing NMM as a regular thing, but will put some time into studying the work of the experts...

You're an excellent painter you know, but Gandalf shouldn't be leaning like that, because his cloak isn't leaning. I'm afraid it looks a bit silly. Well painted but, good show sir.
Kindly please visitate the Rose of Nagarythe, now on Warseer. Not to mention the Mighty Mongoblin Golden Horde!
Also, I have a log-o-commissions.
NEW!!!Imperial Guard!

I know, I know. I realized after I'd finished him that the lean on the slate piece was rather more extreme than I had intended. I tried to prop it up with a bit of Milliput, but it obviously got squashed while it was setting. Live and learn. I still made a 700% profit on the model, so I'm not complaining.but Gandalf shouldn't be leaning like that

Yes the plastic especially. I remember having to do some very "creative" shading and highlighting on the men of Gondor for the store armies when I worked at GW. 50 painted in one shift... that was great fun!
I tend to find that the plastics mostly are the ones with cats or detail issues. Most of the metals are very consistent and the heroes and characters as you say are spot on. Brian Nelson's work especially.
The randomness continues:

I picked this guy up in an eBay auction - one of those slightly inaccurate ones that leave you holding a model you didn't really want. I bid on a "Squat commander" with a very poor photo. Normally, I wouldn't go in for something like that without a very good idea of what I was looking at, but the price was right, so I thought it was worth a punt.
Of course, it turned out to be a Mole Mortar operator. With no mole mortar for him to go with, what do I do? Well, he languished on my desk for several weeks before I suddenly had the bright (I think) idea of converting him to be a Master of Ordnance in time for the new Guard codex.
These old squats are so much fun to paint.

My last Nerf was so popular, I did another:

It doesn't look like anyone cares, but here's a sneak peek of my current project:

bloody nerf gun.
damn you Robey!
new one looks ace.

If you like what I've said please return the favour

{ Mordheim } { Tale of three (sometimes four) painters }
Identify the nerf gun, Adam, or no cookie for you. Updates to follow shortly (there are too many logos on this one - lots of work with the electric sander and Dremel to get rid of them all...).

Cool a longshot, are you going to do any spring, clip or barrel mods to it? also where did yo get one from in the uk? always wanted one but could never find some where in the uk with one that wasnt really expensieve.
It's not a longshot. Not yet. I don't think they're available in the UK, yet - a quick Google search reveals that all the shops selling them import them to order. But if I can get the money I certainly plan to hit the CS-6 Longshot in due course.
I went shopping for my older son's birthday present at Toys R Us the other day (a new bike, since you ask) and couldn't resist checking out the Nerf stand. It was largely pathetic stuff, but they had one CS-6 Recon and I couldn't resist its call.
I've made more progress that I'll post later - I'm working on all the extraneous bits first and tackling the actual blaster itself last to ensure I've got all my techniques really down pat.
I looked into modifications beyond just the paintjob. Thus far, the only thing I've found is a simple mod to increase the range (which I might do) and a load of Heath Robinson jobs that, frankly, look likely to substantially reduce the working life of the toy and take waaay longer to execute than is worthwhile. If you've got any suggestions, I'm happy to listen.
EDIT - updated progress:
The peripherals are coming on nicely. The main blasted is taking ages, though. Firstly, to file off all the logos and secondly, to work out whether I want to take it apart and do some minor internal mods. I've never taken this one apart before and don't want to screw it up!

Nice, like the effect of the paintjob you have going on, yea i saw that the but could hold a clip and assumed it was a longshot. as for mods, the two i know which work are the replacment metal barrels and an increased spring mod, though to be honest you could prbably do with finding a better sight for it.
But the one you really want to do is the vulcan, tha is a crazy nerf gun.
Vulcan's aren't available in this country, yet. And I don't feel like paying £100 to import one.
Anyway, with a momentary return to normal service:

You have some very interesting projects going on here.
I have seen people customize airsoft guns, but theses are the first nerf guns I have seen done.
I do some custom work on Colt revolvers, but nothing too radical in how they look.
I look forward to seeing more.
