Wonderful bloodletter, the yellow/orange colours are just great.
How did you paint it?
Thanks zis.
The jugger was sprayed black then basecoated Charadon Granite and drybrushed Dwarf Bronze, my usual method for metal on Khorne models. The body of the jugger was then repainted granite and washed with Baal Red then highlighted with Scab Red, Red Gore then Blood Red. Various metal bits were highlighted with gold or for non-gold bits painted chainmail and washed with black and green. The rider was undercoated white then basecoated Macharius Solar Orange and layered with Vomit Brown. Highlights were done with Bleached Bone and shading with Baal Red. Both the highlighting and shading were done very carefully and built up gradually. I had a second brush on hand to mop up anything that was too heavy or didn't go were I wanted it. I'm going to do more shading with washes in the future as its easy to build it up and not go over the top. Metal bits were done as per the jugger. Skulls and bits of sword were done from granite through Graveyard Earth, Kommando Khaki and Bleached Bone to a final highlight of white with some Devlan Mud for good measures. Teeth and claws were done with Kommando Khaki then Bleached Bone and finally white. Eyes black with white dots, tongue Warlock Purple with Tentacle Pink highlight. Base – basecoated Caradon Granite, drybrushed Graveyard Earth then Kommando Khaki. Edged with Graveyard Earth.

Looking forward to seeing some more.
Nice man, nice! I like how bright the herald himself is. However, the Jugger and the base are melding a bit. One or the other might benefit from some extra highlighting, to break them apart.
Excellent piece though, very menacing!

Thanks again
Thanks, I can see what you mean. I'll have a look to see if it can be fixed.
Update time
A quick poor quality pic of painting so far on the champion for the Slaughterfiend. He has had the metal done in the same way as the jugger of the herald and a basecoat of mechrite red, a wash of badab black and some thin layers/highlight of blood red. The axe has had a bit more highlighting, although none of it really shows in the pic unfortunately. The skin etc has been based in Dheneb stone and wash with Baal red. You can also see that I've built the base up with basing material around the magnets so he no longer looks like he's floating just above the ground. I plan to do more highlighting of th red this week and add to the skin etc with maybe rotting flesh or bleached bone (not sure exactly as yet) and purple washing for shading. By the way the thin line of grey between the chain and the axe handle is due to the chain parting company with the handle and being re-glued.

An update for you. This is the just about complete Khorne Champion for the Slaughterfiend. I think all that needs doing is the edge of the base. Sorry the pics are a bit poor.
I've been working on my small unit of noise marines. Recently I've filled some holes etc on one or two of them and started to put together a blastmaster armed guy to make the unit up to 6. I've been looking around for inspiration for the paint scheme as I don't really want to stick with the common black and pink combo. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Looks damn sweet![]()
Thanks mate.
++ Update ++
I said I'd been working on a blastmaster guy to bring the noise marine squad up to the magic 6 number so here is some photographic proof.
The parts used here are:
CSM legs
SM torso with some detail removed and a small skull added to buckle from CSM bolter
CSM Heavy Bolter arms, trigger and round vents (underneath blastmaster)
CSM right shoulder pad from the vehicle sprue
SM left shoulder pad (studded)
CSM head
RT Renegade backpack
a short piece of metal tube from a model shop
Dark elf banner
Chaos/Genestealer Hybrid conversion beamer, wire, milliput
Dark eldar chains
It all came together nicely. I originally wanted to use the CSM head with the long curver horns that come out horizontally but it didn't sit right when I had the arms and shoulder pads in place. I'll be leaving the blast master off while I paint him for easier access. I'll be getting this guy and the rest of the squad into the garden for a spray undercoat later. With Feb being a short month I think I'll try to finish the blastmaster guy first to give me a good chunk of points to go with the Khorne guy to post in the Tale. Commitments in March mean that I don't want to joker Feb as I may have to us it next month.
Comments as ever are very welcome.

Very nice kit-bash! So many different kits used, and it comes together beautifully.

Nice, nice![]()
the khorne champion is amazingkeep up the good work
Thank you very much guys, much appreciated.
Work on the Noise marine has been a bit slow so I still don't have anything to show you on the painting, maybe at the weekend. I went ahead and jokered February for the Tale and I'll try to get a couple of extra things done this month to make up for it - possibly another zerker or 2.
Its nearly a month since I posted last for which I apologise. I'm about to post in the Tale but thought I better show my face here first. The Noise Marine unfortunately has not worked out so is on hold until I can decide what to do to rescue the colour scheme or whether I need to start over. The good news however is that I've finally got the Horrors finished. They are maybe not as good as I might have liked but I've realised that I've got used to painting HQ units and various other one ofs which means I'm possibly expecting too much of painting rank and file troops. Anyway here is the Tale entry:
Give_me_a_d's All Things Chaos: March 2012
Monthly Total: 146pts (100 Target)
Total To Date: 603pts
Jokers Played: 2 played previously but my points over target now lets me get 1 back.
Background/ Theme:
A growing warp rift has spawned a daemonic host and is beginning to attract Chaos marines
Unit(s):
A Khorne Berzerker 21pts (To be my Slaughterfiend rider)
12 Horrors of Tzeentch with Bolt of Tzeentch, Icon, Instrument of Chaos and the Changeling (Would be 249pts but as they were half painted already I'm claiming 125pts for them)
Build/ Conversion:
The 'zerker is various plastic bits from CSMs Possessed etc plus a body and head from Forge World. The Horrors are pretty much straight from the box rider with the addition of the Changeling and another guy from bits to give 12 total.
Painting/ Basing:
Berzerker - Sprayed black then basecoated Charadon Granite and drybrushed Dwarf Bronze. Red was then based with Mechrite, washed with Badab and highlighted with Blood red. The metal was further highlighted with gold and Mithril. The skin was Dheneb Stone washed with Devlan Mud and Baal Red, highlighted with more Dheneb Stone.
Horrors – Mainly just Baal Red over Dheneb Stone. Very simple but complicated at the same time in that it was difficult to get just the right amount of wash to give nice subtle pink transitions. Towards the extremities was done with Leviathan Purple and Asurmen Blue with fingers etc highlighted with Shadow Grey. The Changeling was don the same way with his robes done in Necron Abyss and highlighted with Shadow Grey, and Ice Blue.
Base – basecoated Caradon Granite, drybrushed Graveyard Earth then Kommando Khaki. Edged with Graveyard Earth.
Still to do:
Finish the bases off
Highs and Lows:
Highs: I'm very pleased with the Berzerker and with getting the Horrors finished, but they seemed to go on forever.
Lows: The scheme for the Noise Marine that I started not working and then not knowing what to do instead
Next Month:
More 'zerkers and starting the Slaughterfiend?

Its high time I did an update so here we go.
These pics are some of the bits for the slaughterfiend - the claw armour and chained hatch, a claw body that is just about finished and the head front and side
The claw still has shading of both the metal (Scaly Green) and grey panels (badab black) and that will be it finished. Just another 3 to go!
I've not looked in here for a while now, and now you've got all this awesome Chaos Marine goodness!
The retro conversion for the Noise Marine is fantastic, I love what you've done with the gun.![]()
Thanks very much Mr Feral. I'm very pleased with him too. Quite dynamic for a model with both feet on the ground. Unfortunately coming up with a colour scheme for those noise marines is proving tough. I thought I had it sorted but evidently not and I'm not showing the trial run its that bad. I think I'll have to look at the new GW paints, particularly the pinks/purples to see if they offer potential. I'd like to do something that isn't the normal pink and black but still slaaneshi.
This whole thread is made of win. I literally cannot wait to see how the Slaughterfiend turns out!
Wow, thanks, that's quite an endorsement. Hopefully I'll have some more progress to show off very soon. I've just about finished the second claw and I've got the torso and two remaining claws primed ready for the red scheme that I used on the head. I'm thinking some sort of transition would be in order on the torso but I'm yet to work out how to do it - maybe having the red as blood flowing down over the grey armour.
Ok, update time. As I'd hoped I've got some more pics of progress on the Slaughterfiend. Here we have the two finished claw arms, ready for the armour and claws to be attached, the 8 claws with a basic Dwarf Bronze drybrush over the Charadon Gramite base and finally the torso which is at the same stage:
I'll hopefully get the drybrush on the other 2 claw arms today and then I can concentrate on the highlighting during the week.
