Thread: Fantasy Doubles Tournament- sign up thread.

    Exclamation Fantasy Doubles Tournament- sign up thread.

    Saw these and thought it would be something interesting to try to host.

    The rules:

    -You get two characters each, these characters must be a hero from a legal army book.
    -No special characters. No mounts.
    -Each character can be a maximum of 175 points.
    -If the character is a wizard you must declare which lore you are using.
    -Note all special rules that model has.
    -The characters do NOT have to come from the same army book.
    -No two characters may be exactly the same. (First come first serve.)
    -16 people can enter (so 32 characters overall).
    -You must provide background for each character (nothing too long).
    -I will be the roller.

    The way it will run:

    -Once we have 16 entrants I will set up the match ups.
    -A random character from each team will start in the arena.
    -Each character will have one chance to shoot at the other before combat done in order of initiative.
    -If a character is a wizard they will cast a spell instead. This spell will be randomly picked from the lore and the wizard will use all it's generated power dice to cast. Spells that create new models will not be allowed and will be rerolled. The opponent will have no chance to dispel it if it goes off. If the wizard miscasts it will lose 1 wound and the miscast table is ignored.
    -The characters will then charge each other (getting charge bonus).
    -The characters will be counted as in a challenge.
    -The character with the highest initiative (or ASF) will go first.
    -After each of the characters has attacked (assuming neither of them have died) the character that lost the most wounds will take a leadership test (if it's a tie then there is no test), and if the leadership test is failed the character flinches and the other character gets a free attack (just 1 attack).
    -The characters repeat the last three steps (thus no longer count as charging) until one character dies.
    -Once a character dies it's team mate will join the battle (assuming there is still a living one) and the process starts over again (starting at them being able to shoot at each other).
    -Once one team has been wiped out the other side wins.
    -In the case where both the last characters die at the same time, those two characters will join forces and become the winning team.
    -Characters that have lost some of their wounds (but did not die) will gain them all back before the next battle.
    -Characters killed in a previous battle will come back to life with full wounds on a 2+. On a 1 the character is actually dead and his team mate will have to go on without him.
    -Spell effects are cancelled at the end of ech match up.
    -The following match ups will then be set and the process continues until one team is declared the winner.

    With that, please post your teams and I will start the process once we have 16 entrants (32 characters).

    For chaos you can use either since it's in transition right now.

    Kalcipos the Raging
    (Vampire)

    Kalcipos uses the lore of the vampires
    Avatar of death - Kalcipos has a great weapon and heavy armour
    Infinite hatred - Kalcipos hates all enemies and may re-roll to-hit rolls every turn
    The cursed book - For one round of combat, enemy models are reduced to WS 1 when rolling to hit Kalcipos
    Kalcipos costs 165 points

    Rumoured to have born of a vampiric mother, Katapekt and Kalcipos are utterly mad twin vampires with unquenchable bloodlust. Wielding ornate two-handed swords and possessing ancient magical artifacts they are an unstoppable team intent on drinking the blood of everyone who stands in their way.

    Former Reiksguard, his blood lust was well known among his former comrades, this would soon lead him down the path of damnation. His once polished armor was now covered in dried blood.

    Akrim the Slaughterer

    Raises in the tribe of the hound, he quickly became the tribes leader but eventually heard the call of Khorne and began he journey to become a chaos warrior.

    5+ Scaly Skin: Confers a 5+ armour save

    Sacred Spawnings:
    Sacred Mark of the Old ones: D3 re-rolls (rolled at start of the game) on any D6 that affects the character (basicly I can reroll any d3 dice in the duel)
    Blessed Spawning of Tzunki: Aquiatic, +1 initiative

    Equipment:
    Pirahna Blade: Any unsaved wounds are multiplied into two wounds (evil in this)
    Enchanted Shield: 5+ armour save
    Light armour: 6+ armour save

    Tza-tuun left his temple city after an unmentionable incedent with two skinks and a single gold challice. And has wandered the world ever since. He likes hitting things with his blade as it makes him feel superior, for some reason this elf he found can speak Saurian so Tza let him live to serve as a traveling buddy.

    Hail of Doom Arrow: 1 use, Splits into 3d6 magical strength 4 arrows. Roll to hit seperatly for each arrow. May not be used with a magic bow.
    Rageth's Wildfire Blades: Counts as two hand weapons. Any attacks made with these weapons count as flaming.
    Talisman of Protection: 6+ ward save
    Light armour
    Longbow

    A firm Believer in "Live fast die fast" Lord Firumsbell relies on hitting for a huge amount of damage and killing his oppenets before they even strike back. With the firepower at his disposal things usualy go his way.

    Ugg the Unvincible

    Dwarf Thane

    Equipment:

    Great Weapon - doesnt need to be said surely
    Dwarf Handgun - Strength 4, Armour Piercing, +1 to hit at short range
    Grudge Rune - Nominate one enemy character and re-roll misses in close combat
    Master Rune of Gomril - 1+ Save, cannot be improved
    Rune of Striking - Adds +1 to weapon skill

    Dropped on his head as a young dwarfling, Ugg was deprived of what little intelligence and reflexes dwarfs are normally gifted with. Since then, Ugg has wandered the Old World, laughing off attacks whilst he slowly brings his Great Axe to bear.

    Tactics: Nominate first opponent for grudge rune. Surive attacks. Hit back



    Barokthe Brutal

    Equipment:

    Cold Blooded - Roll 3D6 for leadership tests, discard highest

    Blessed Spawning of Sotek - +1 Attack when charging
    Blessed Mark of the Old Ones - D3 re-rolls (rolled at start of the game) on any D6 that affects the character (basicly I can reroll any d3 dice in the duel)
    Scimitar of the Sun Resplendent - +2 Attacks

    After accidently sitting on (and consequently squashing) the Slann's favourite Skink Priest, Barok was banished from Lustria. He wandered without purpose, butchering all in his path until he came across Ugg and was unable to get past Ugg's impressive armour. Barok had difficulty communicating with the dim-witted dwarf but after alot of grunting they decided to combine Ugg's armour and Barok's scimitar into an unbeatable team.

    Tactics: Use Re-Rolls to survive ranged attacks and presumably striking first opponents. Then unleash immense number of attacks on stunned opponent.

    Let the bodies hit the floor...

    PS. Hail of the Doom Arrow "Wierdo2590": How depressingly predictable...

    Haerval and Heurl are not related, despite both of them thinking they are. Sworn to take control of the F'oo'Led family neither of them are actually related to the two "Brothers" are constantly planning the others downfall. Both entered this tournament in the hopes that victory would bring enough support to gain dominance over the mighty F'oo'Led family as well as killing the other "Brother" off.

    All the Druchii that know the two are incredibly grateful that the two are going off to die.

    Born in Caledor, Yyeithr always wished to join the ranks of the swordmasters. After years of diligent studying he has been sent from Saphrey to hone his skills in battle. For the only true test of ones ability is in the thick of battle.

    Tactics: Charge in and hope for the best.

    Monsieur Bob avec les Tattoos
    M: 4, WS: 7, BS: 3, S: 4 (6), T: 4, W: 2, I: 6, A: 4, Ld: 8, Sv: 5+/ 6+, 5+ (3+)

    Equipment:
    Questing Vow: May re-roll failed psych tests.
    Great Weapon: +2 str
    Heavy Armour: 5+ armour save
    Virtue of the Ideal: +2 WS, +1 I, +1 attack (included in the profile)
    Insignia of the Quest: if reduced to one wound, he instantly gets a 3+ ward save. If he suffers multiple wounds that would kill him before he has gained this ward save, he will be reduced to one wound, then he may attempt his 3+ ward save to stay alive and nullify any further wounds caused by the same hit.
    Tress of Isoulde (1 use only): nominate one enemy model at the begining of the CC phase. the Bearer hits that model on a 2+, regardless of any modifiers

    Special Rules:
    Blessing of the lady: the knight gets a 6+ ward save from attacks str = or < 4, and a 5+ ward str = or > 5

    Total Points: 157

    He began as a bounty hunter, looked down upon by the so called legitimate knights of Brettonia. Each Knight that Bob killed, he had their heraldry tattooed upon his skin. Bob has only failed once, and that was against an elf he had to kill. Gravely wounded from that encounter, Bob has decided to join with this elf to train, and now Yyiethr and Bob scour the Old world looking for those that they can practice their art upon

    Tactics: Charge in, use the Tress only against an opponent at Full health or if Bob has only 1 wound left. (or subsequently if the opponent he is facing happens to be the second one at 1 wound)

    PS: I didn't know if i could do brettonia because they had to have a horse, but if you do Bob +14pts to Bob, and won't use the horse in battle.

    Fluff: Kurr'goth Glyschk'ath and Garr'sklugg Krr'Qoqkrroq are almost brothers alike. Wherever one goes, the other will not be far behind. They have entered this puny mortal contest to search fresh victims for the Plaguefather to test his new pestilences on. With the fresh score of victims, Kurr'gath will be pleased and he will cherish his children with even tastier bulboes and famine.

    2 Questions:

    Can Bound spells also be cast in the shooting/magic phase?
    There is no other magic phase correct? Which means that Nurgles Rot (enemy in BtB suffers a wound with no armour save allowed on a 6+ in each magic phase) is pretty pointless right?

    I think this will be Rock Paper and Scissors with these two characters. Amazingly strong against some opponents, but will suffer against others...

    You can use a bound item in the shooting/magic phase, but if it's a one use only or if it destroys it self on a 1 or something, you wouldn't be able to use it against the teammate if you beat the first.

    Nurgles rot would be completely useless in this regard, yes.

    Chaos, dwarf combo is fine. Just make sure you look at the ones above as they can't be exactly the same as any one else.

    Tactic: Use two dice to cast bear's anger, and sick'em at the enemy

    Fluff: It was a Stormy day on the plans of Bretonnia, when the armies of Orc and Beasts clashesed. When the two armies engaged they fought each other with a fury unkown. As the battle persued on, the Knights of Bretonnia arrived to take advantage of the situation and remove both of these threats. As they hit the two opposing armies where slaughtered. All except for the two leaders Bungor and Golgeroth. They meet each other in the middle of the conflict and together slaughtered their way out of the Bretonnian army. Together they swore an oath to reek revenge on Bretonnia for this humilation on an unpresidented level, and since then have been a union of Orc and beast.

    Well, since I have to roll in Slaaneshslave's AoD, let me put in an entry here. Not that they'll do well but you need some grist for this mill.

    He had been hunting in the forests on the other side of the mountain range the humans called 'Grey' for more cycles of the moons than he could recall. Ever onward, beastmen to kill, blood lust to sate. For weeks now he had known she was there. Shadowing his moves, following wherever he chose to pursue the foul beasts but always just a flicker of movement at the corner of his vision. He knew the spirits of the forest followed him. Never attacking him yet never announcing their presence. The fickle spirits of the forest, he knew, were not to be trifled with but on occasion could be powerful allies. Then came the morning the wargor's band circled back on the silently stalking elf who had taken their numbers from the hundreds to the teens over the seasons. He felt them coming, the stink in the air, the taint of the wood. He knew their strength of numbers would be an irritation which might force him to flee until he could pick his next fight. As he muttered a curse at Loec for the aggravation this would cause, that persistent shadow that had followed him these weeks came into focus for the first time. There she stood, festooned with myriad spiteful creatures pulling at her leaves and branches so that she seemed caught in a strong wind though none stirred. Would this then be further aggravation? She spoke then and said "I have witnessed your cleansing of my home and will now aid you in completing the job. Come, let's finish these wretches."

    With that He who hunts and Poison Oak became the vengeful talons of the wood.

    Only took caster because I was WAY under for points otherwise. If she gets the #2 magic missile, #3 cant be harmed by nonmagic missiles or #5 regeneration she'd try to use them. Also #4 which would make her cause terror can be tried. #1 and #6 don't cast since they're just a chance to miscast.

    Tactic: catch incoming bullet/arrow/spell, charge, hope for the best (and only get hit on 6s while dishing 3 +d6 attacks)
