Forgeworld Antonius, God machines on demand.

Almost finished our first commission. All praise the Omnissiah!

The servitors have not completed the greave armour. It will be blessed and attached presently.

Turbolaser operating at 99.99% efficiency. The servitors in charge of power maintenance have been dismantled, such inefficiency will not be tolerated.

Plasma cannon has been blessed thrice. Further blessing and prayers required before it will be ready for testing. Also heat vents must be installed. With prayers.

The fearsome face of a god of war. Tremble, foes of man!

That's excellent for scratch-built. Bloody brilliant.

There seem to be some rough edges, but it's a WIP so I'll wait and see. Much better than I could do anyway.

I demand you begin a Warlord Titan! It has rules! Make it!

As you can see(or maybe not- flaws at that scale can be harder to spot), My warlord is considerably rougher than my warhound- it predates it by about 5 or 6 years.

The warhound is the 2nd titan I've built, so thats quite a gap! speaking of gaps...

Hmm... not really. Anyone could do this I think, with patience. It is rough and as you can see here i'm still working on it. I've added vents on the rear and some caulk to fill the gaps in the foamcore on the carapace. With luck, i can sand that smooth as a baby's bottom and it'll look good.

It will still be a rough and ready titan compared with the masterpieces I've seen. Interestingly, the paint you see on it is for my benefit while working, and is not the final job. I'm getting paid to build this thing, not paint it.

I hope i can get my friend to post pics of the finished, fully painted article when he is done.

I will be doing a reaver after this is finished.

I wonder over the legality of scratch-building stuff and selling them for commission works.

Other than that, the Warlord looks wonderful, but the Warhound looks... plain, it lacks stuff. I think it demands rivets and texturing. May I suggest really thinn sheets of plasticard and then cutt out shapes from them, such sa vents, window-esque wall work etc. and then attatch them to the model before painting? Think it'd add a lot of character to the models.

If you think about it, scratchbuilt models are just extensive conversions, there is so much work put into them and there are never any casts made. The titans look really good, I might want to beef up the legs on the warhound a little more.

    Great work but some criticism:
The warhound looks a little top heavy, the legs look like they may not support the body as it moves.

Love the warlord - now build me an Imperator!

Getting a lot of comment on the legs- yeah, needs some more pistons and the lower leg armour.
The torso of the hound may be a centimeter or two to thinck in any direction as i used thick foamcore instead of thin plasticard.

The warhound really does lack rivets and stuff- chances are they'll never be there. I'll be adding more detail today, hopefully it'll look more the part when i'm done.
Also, today I will be building the engine block...wish me luck!

    Pics to follow

Imperator? That would be... impractical. My Warlord routinely gets killed by carnifexs- I'd hate to see that happen to something roughly the size of me.

Oh and if i could get some ideas off you guys for basing the warlord? The problem at present is that He IS topheavy, being made from wood and stuff (the gatling blaster is copper pipes)
The problem with basing him is that it would take up about 2 foot squared of the table, and most of the apocalypse games I play are short on tablespace as it is.

No difference between that and selling a copy of an artwork. It's an individual interpretation of a theme and thus a valid form of self-expression as long as you are clear that it is *your* work. Otherwise, of course, it becomes forgery.

Now, I'd say that either the Warlord is too big or the Warhound is too small. My inclination is to think it's the latter, judging by the Rhino. Still, it's a cracking piece of work.

I've now cleaned up the carapace and added large rivets to the shoulders and some tiny rivets to the plasma blast gun. The plasma vent things have been added.

The legs have recieved numerous new pistons and some hose- and their armour.

The back has got a large engine block with smoke belching stacks

I've never actually held the forgeworld model, but I was given to understand that the plan i used were the same scale.

My warlord is 24" to the top of its carapace whereas the warhound is 10".
It's legs are bent though, in a movement pose rather than the FW models which seem to be more extended.

Re: Forgeworld Antonius, God machines on demand.

Handed over the warhound yesterday- owner was suitably chuffed. We then played a game using it- My guard, his necrons/tanks and titan representing the Dark Mechanicus vs an Imperial fists army with baneblade- during the 30k campaign on mars.

It was a thunder run city fight- first turn every tank hunters lascannon fired at the Warhound! Those that didn't miss completely depleted it's shields and then bounced... except for that last one... penetrate... 6(chain reaction), 6(chain reaction),6(chain reaction...)

The warhound never got to fire and the balance of power swung waaay in favor of the fists.

Last turn of the game my guard las cannon hit the (newly damage controlled to full operational status) baneblade.
    Pen.
    6.
    6.
    6.

    Explosion table: 6.

The ensuing 9 inch blast took out all the buildings in the middle of the board.
    Highly entertaining.

Anyway, back to building. I've procured all manner of foam and pipes and Tesco value yogurts to construct a reaver!!

Interesting titan scale ratio- a reaver (at approx 16 inches) is roughly 1.5 the height of a warhound (10.5 approx)... and canonically a warlord is 1.5 times the height of a reaver- meaning 24" is quite accurate.

Does this reasoning follow through for Imperators- are they 1.5 times the height of a warlord?

At any rate- there are templates online for a model resembling the armorcast reaver but mine will try to emulate the FW one.

Therefore any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Genius, I'm building a reaver titan at present, the Rhino scale has just helped me out immeasurably
A tournament player: the glass is half empty
A narrative player: the glass is half full
An eldar player: why isn't my glass rending?
FashaTheDog: I only own two broadsides and while they can usually never fail a save, they can also be counted upon to never kill anything more intimidating than a guardsman.

Thanks man. Do you have a proj-log going or can you post some images? Your Ideas will help me too

    Ok picture time.

This is the sketch I will be working from:

These are the parts I have gathered together: Various waste disposal pipes and yogurt cups as well as a cut to shape sheet of foam that I intend attaching everything else to.

and finally, the work area shot.

Now, I've just learned foamcore won't curve for me, and this will be a mars class. I'm thinking of using corrugated cardboard for thickness covering it with sheets of card - any better ideas?

Dang- I'm really having trouble with these bits.

I've tried working from the armour outside first, then putting toes in but it isn't working like I'd hoped. Might have to start from ground up.
    Any ideas?

    UPDATE:

After a long period of modeler's block, finally got some work done on the legs. Used plastic flower pots and a steel mop haft I found for €2. Some christmas baubles added for jointiness.

quick scale shot (sorry about the sideways !)

and the knee pads and crotch bit.

I'm thinking of filling the greaves with expanding foam to add stability and strength.
Suggestions and comments and brainwaves please

Long time no post, camera unavailable.

Quick scale shot with the head:<img

I'll need to cut that neck down a bit to make sure the cheek cables fit neatly into the chest carapace (need to hide where they finish rather than plugging them in somewhere.)

Has anyone any ideas for knee joints? I was thinking photo film cases (the plastic tubes you put your full roll into) or something similar.
