great stuff man! the dark flesh shading looks excellent. who cares wether that makes sense or not. it makes some awesome contrast of cool and warm colours in a rather subtle way.
    great

    Legacy

I thought id give it a couple of days before chekcing back as your updates seem to be relentless, and indeed, so many things have appeared since i last looked here.

The poses and the paint jobs are exceptional. I think you have really got a fab look going on here, and as always with your stuff, you've managed to really hit it right on the head.

The other amazng thing for me is the basing. I love the snowy bases. I know alot of people on here spend alot of time on basing, but yours look fab without taking away from the model itself.

This is a true tau masterclass, and i think alot of people could learn from your dedication to truely great looking models.

I hope the judges at the Toronto Golden Demon think the same thing this Saturday as these 3 suits will be entered in the unit catagory (I've never seen crisis suits win in the unit category, and only a couple have won single model categories). Originally I wanted to enter a unit of 8 (with drones) (and if I don't win this year.. next year I will enter 8) as farsight and bodyguard, but it took to much time to make each suit and I was in a painting lul for a while so I didn't get any others done.

    Awesome shading,
Is the red part of the coloring or is that weathering?

Great conversion works they give the Tau a different sort of utilitarian feel. The shading technique on green-suit is also ... amazing lol.

Great re-interpretation of the Tau suits - they have real attitude to them!

Re: Legacy40k's Tau Prototype Army Painting Log

Took me a while to figure out what to do for the base of this guy.

I needed something flag because of the way I built him.. but I also didn't want it to be 100% snow.. and I want him raised as the other 2 models in the unit are raised off the ground a bit in some way. It took me a while and then I thought of oil piping.. I couldn't just do two pipes though. as the model wouldn't balance very well on them, so I added a catwalk as well.

After taking these pictures of the head, I've noticed a few little things that need to be cleaned up, but overall.. it's all there.

I need to go over all the black areas still on this model and touch up some of the highlights which seem to have rubbed off which is a real pain.
