I think trying to find the testes on an asexual killing machine might be difficult, especially when you could just put the powersword into one of his hearts or into his brain instead of trying to knock him senseless.

Starting work on my next few suits.

I believe that the most defining part of a Crisis suit is the Jetpack, followed by the head and then weapons. With that in mind I like to to make the Jetpacks unique and experiment with designs that allow for more mobility than the current ones would allow.

There are 3 jetpack design ideas on the mat here:

I've put togeather the jet-pack from the bottom to start constructing the XV-85-3 "Pulse" crisis suit.

I just thought I'd post this up here, I've found it to be hugely influencial in designing my new suits.

Part of it is that they make you look at mecha from a different perspective.. it breaks them down into very basic shapes and formes that you may not have noticed before.

They are also good for pose ideas.

Some specific ones I really liked:

Quite possibly my all time favorite that I've come across:

Anyways.. you can browse through them all you like from the first link. I just picked out some of the ones that I really liked, I have found them to be VERY inspiring, even when not taking ideas directly from them for creating my new suits.

Introducing the XV-87.3 "Quadro" heavy armour Crisis Suit.

Okay.. not much of it there yet but I base all my crisis suits around the jetpack design and go from there.

I haven't decided on weapons yet, but it will be with the green squad so possibly a burst cannon mixed with something else. It will also depend on the mounting points.. I have no jetpack mounting points so they have to be arm wielded weapons.

Re: Legacy40k's Tau Prototype Army Painting Log

The nearly finished "Pulse" The head on it is only temporary to determine the angle.. I just haven't made a head yet that suits it.. I've made 3 so far, but none of them are quite what I want. When on the base it will be angled forward a lot more to give a sense of forward motion instead of the landing pose it has right now sitting on the flying stand for the photo.

These photos also don't have the missile pods that I still havent' addressed the attachment issue on.. see next post.

As I said in the last post.. I have not yet addressed how to model the twin linked missile pods.

I haven't decided on over or under slung missiles on the jetpack. Or.. if you can think of an alternative mounting method.. feel free to tell me. I also still have a bunch of cleaning up to do, but the greenstuff hasn't cured enough yet.

Very cool, now these look more like agile shooting platforms and less like boxy, old-school transformers.

Top notch painting, bits selection and kit-bashing. Awesome!

I hope to see these in white dwarf golden demon section
    Alllll iisss dussst!

If you scroll back you may see the preliminary work for the Trilliad. The body is now done.

Seriously, this project is amazing...it's nice to see a Tau project log, and this one is excellent.

    This is the Lance Broadside.

I converted the jetpack into the Smart Missile System. I thought about magnetizing them so that they can rotate around, but I'm not sure I'm going to bother at this point. When not in use the SMS will rotate around and look just like a regular missile system.

Re: Legacy40k's Tau Prototype Army Painting Log

I wanted a significantly different set of legs just for variety. So I designed these multi part legs.. they allow the suit to stand a bit taller or crouch very low.

I haven't decided if they are going to go on the Trilliad or the Lance Yet. I originally designed them with the Trilliad in mind since the Trilliad is part of the blue team which contains my more extreme.. and arguably less practical designs.

After building the legs though I thought they might look good on a broadside so I started thinking about using them on the Lance... I'm still undecided.. thoughts? It may come down simply to building a 2nd set of legs and seeing what I like on which suit.

Re: Legacy40k's Tau Prototype Army Painting Log

If you look back in the thread you'll see the starts of the Quadro suit. I'm VERY happy with how it turned out. The jetpack design worked out perfectly.

It's armed with a Cyclic Pulse Cannon (Counts as a Burst Cannon) and Plasma Rifle.

It is only base coated.. eventually I'll get around to finishing painting it.

Re: Legacy40k's Tau Prototype Army Painting Log

The Basecoated "Pulse" I'm not happy with the aesthetics of the of the missile launchers and I've found that the weapons on it don't compliment those of the Trilliad well enough.

It was originally supposed to be leaning more forward but the pinning didn't allow for it. I'm still pretty happy with the pose though.

I haven't come up with a final name for this broadside yet but I'm very happy with how it looks... I think this is what broadsides were meant to look like.
