To answer your question.. yes and no.

Take my "Burst" suit for example.

It's armed with twin linked burst cannons, and a missile pod (in the shoulders). However, it only has three hard points. So, if i field it as a normal suit, those take up all three hard points and it can't fire them all in one turn.

However. If I upgrade it to a squad leader, it gains access to the armoury and can then take a hardwired multi-tracker so it can fire two weapons in one turn, despite already having it's hard points filled.

yes, but does the rocket launcher count as one and the synchronized burst cannons count as the second weapon? Because I can only shoot two weapon systems a round with the tracker, and the codex says synchronized counts as two WS (weaponsystem) + the rocket launcher would be 3 WS.
That is the only question If I can shoot both this weapons with a tracker although beein 3 weaponssystems.

When will your next update be coming? :-)

A twin linked weapon is one weapon that uses two hardpoints.

Thanks Legacy :-) That will make things much nicer haha :-) Now I have an open stage for the assembling, thanks again :-)
Btw: Your suits were also an additional reason why I started tau.
Please keep making them haha :-)

There's still a lot of work to do in terms of detailing it, adding greebles and cleaning it up all around but here's where I'm at now.

Certainly some of the best tau battlesuits I've ever seen!!

Really nice gritty, battle worn feel to them and some amazing posing and bases sets!

I haven't been able to work on the Axium for a few weeks. School got crazy busy in April. I have time again now!

So the plan right now is:

Finish the Axium (assembly) by tomorrow.

    Start a new Broadside suit

    Start my new Commander suit

Start a Quadro variant for a commission.

There should be a lot of activity in this thread over the next few weeks if all goes well.

Here's the Axium right now (the legs are almost done)

Really good work here, the axium comes along nicely. Though I have the feeling I have seen this jumppack before.
However, your thread keeps inspiring me. Actually it was one factor when my decision to buy a Tau army turned into a purchase.
    Keep it up!

Really nice work, Legacy. I love that your suits are converted and scratch built so much, yet still maintain that unmistakable Tau look. I lot of scratch suits take on a whole new look that doesn't really fit with the style, but you manage to nail it.

The Axium is done... also featured with it's drones. The first suit to have gun drones.

The idea behind the Axium was to make a cheap suit that was expendable but also had a lot of damage potential.

Just spent a while reading through the whole log, absolutely superb! I've never been a fan of the standard GW battlesuits but I love the FW ones and yours definately fall into the same category of love as the FW ones! Your designs are really insirational and as i'm beginning to work on a tau army of my own, i'll be shamelessly utilising elements of your work!

The trick to this is... only use tau bits. I've used a couple of imperial bits, but you'd be hard pressed to spot them in most cases because they have been hacked up so much.

Of course, then I add the detailing bits to add visual interest but they add to the look, not take it away.

As tempting as it is, you have to refrain from using 1/100 scale Gundam kits. I've seen a few battle suits with Gundam legs and it's not pretty.

Re: Legacy40k's Tau Prototype Army Painting Log

I've seen a number of attempts at making a 4 legged broadside over the years. While I like the idea, thus far, I can't say I've seen one that I think really pulled it off. That is to say achieved a good look in the end.

I'm attempting to change that with this.

The suit is still nameless but here's the start:

    NICE.
All the flamer one needs are wings, 2 pelvis guns, a rifle, and should guns. The you can call it the ZERO!!! (or whatever that one Gundam was)

They look very cewl. The one you just started already looks awesome lol

These look amazing, and you've inspired me to make the 2 suits I'm going to have in my Kroot renegade Army look absolutely amazing, like yours.

Mind if I shamefully snag some ideas?

You could name it the Mal'Caor which meant spider in the original Tau codex on page 57.

    Update:

The legs aren't done yet, I still have to do the lower legs. I don't think I'm going to give it proper feet, I think stilts are just fine when you have four legs, but we'll see.
