Dezmords Thousand Sons and Chaos Daemons

    Hi,

I'm a longtime lurker here on warseer and finally decided to register.
I had some painting logs in a german forum (that unfortunately doesn't work at the moment), so this isn't the beginning of an army-log, as the army is right in the middle of being painted.
Anyway, I find painting a lot easier if I can chare pictures with a big community to receive some feedback and criticism. Even though the army is halfway done, it is never to late to improve.
Enough talking, lets start with some pictures: Lord Thot and my first unit of Thousand Sons.

The painting's a very high standard. What else is in the army?

Looking great Dezmord, I like the extreme highlighting just on the edges, creates a very dark look with an almost eery ethereal glow.

Look forward to seeing more of the army.

    Re: Lord Thot's Thousand Sons

    Thanks for the compliments!

I wanted to start an all infantry army (2000 points), so my list looked like:

Chaos Sorcerer in Terminator Armour, MoT
    Chaos Sorcerer with wings, MoT

    9 Terminators, IoT
    9 Posessed, IoT

    9 Thousand Sons
    9 Thousand Sons
    9 Demons
    9 Demons

    Obliterator
    Obliterator

I painted everything, apart from 9 TS, 1 Obliterator and 3 Terminators. After that I had a couple of games, mostly against MEQ's, where the Posessed did absolutely nothing
I finally decided to kick them out and squeeze in a Defiler (which I'm currently working on) and a Vindicator. Also Lord Thot (the Termi-sorceror) is usually left in the shelf and replaced by Lord Seth, a Demon Prince.

I want to use this log, to show the progress of the rest of the army, while I build it to be used in games in all point-sizes, even for apocalypse (I want to build some silver towers ).
Apart from the two vehicles and the currently unpainted models, there are still some more purchases waiting...

@word bearer and laughing god: Glad you like the glow! Heres is some other kind of glow: Demons!
I painted all demonic matter in the same green, so you will find it in a couple more models of this army, that have to do with demonic matter.
I'm going to post pictures of everything already painted in the next days.

Love your take on the demons. Very original idea, and well-executed, as well.

@Keadaen: Nick the idea if you like, but be prepared that your opponents will look at them and tell you how cute they are

The demons are pretty easy to make: just take a spore mine, put a small flat piece of GS on it for a pupil (not sure about the word: the innermost part of an eye) and then one small stripe of GS above and below the pupil.

Very clever use of Spore Mines, and they look awesome, though slightly give me the creeps rather than looking cute...don't like that many eyes suddenly upon me

Excellent stuff, all over. Have to mention the demons aswell. It is a cool way to make at least modeld wise a good use of the demon nerf in the new dex. Brilliant idea.

    let´s see more

    Re: Lord Thot's Thousand Sons

Todays evening was partially spent to start building and painting my defiler, especially to see if my paintscheme works for vehicles. I'll take a WIP picture tommorow.

Back to already painted models: Before I'm going to introduce you to my posessed, I first want to show you a bigger picture of Sostris, the Aspriring Sorcerer of my first TS unit and Imhotep, my winged Sorcerer-Lord.

Hmm, I haven't quite figured out how to include pics into posts...

    Re: Lord Thot's Thousand Sons

Ok, as promised I'm going to post the posessed now.

WIP pics of the defiler will follow this afternoon, when I hopefully find my camer...

Anyone interested in pics of the beginning of a demon legion? They are a sideproject of mine and could use some tipps for painting nurglings and some criticism and comments for my WIP Tzeentch herald on chariot.

This took me a while to figure out, plus help from others on the forum.

If you put [IMG] and [/IMG] tags in your post, then copy and paste the http:// location of where the image is then you can have the images embedded in your posts.

    for example: [IMG] + http://warseer.com/forums/attachment...7&d=1213982045 + [/IMG] =

There are your lovely daemons! (just remove the '+' bits.)

    Re: Lord Thot's Thousand Sons

I finally found the camera after at least two hours of searching

As I think that pictures af already painted models may be kind of boring, I took some WIP pictures of the defiler. One leg is partially painted to see if the colourscheme works (I think it turned out quite nice).
The other picture shows the defilers head: I tried to mimick a Thousand Sons pre-heresy helmet.

    @Slaaaaaanesh: Thanks!

Finally I found my camera. I think it took nearly two hours of searching

As I think that only showing pictures of already painted models is somewhat boring, I took some pictures of my WIP defiler.

I started painting the first leg, to see if the colourscheme works for vehicles (I think it turned out quite nice). Second picture is the head of the defiler where I tried to mimick a pre-heresy TS helmet.

Those are awesome! I really like how you went with a non traditional color scheme for the Thousand Sons. The Deamons are very nice and the Defiler looks promising!
