Slaaaaaanesh's fantasy Warriors of Chaos log of whispers!

I have signed on to the Tale of fantasy gamers/painters 2008-2009 with Warriors of Chaos.

Having planned many conversions for this army and have decided to get a head start on the modelling and converting. Painting....as you will notice from viewing my 40k thread is not my strong point which is why I signed onto the log.

What will be interesting is the hopeful release of the Warriors of Chaos at the end of this year so I am looking forward to what GW have in store for us!

I will list the contents of the units in the this first post.
General on Daemonic Mount: #2

So without further ado may I present my General.



I have used a zombie head as I like the idea that this general has been seduced by the Chaos powers of Slaanesh and despite the 'gifts' that they bestow also take from them, nothing comes for free after all!

The rest of the model is made out of Ork boar, Ogre, Chaos, and beastmen bits.

interesting model you have there, not really how I think of slaanesh but as long as you have the same feeling over your models and keep a strong visual theame over your army this might be great!

Now put some paint on it!

wow looks cool pretty well executed conversion. But somehow reminds me of a necron don’t know why tough, good work nonetheless keep ‘em coming and start painting!

Thanks for the support, I will muscle up the legs a bit more and add a few slaanesh icons before painting him up in time for this TOFP month's quota.

I have also have a WIP Slaanesh hellcannon. The large wheels are the ones from the Skaven doomwheel. I'm trying to make to cannon bit look like the firnd of Slaanesh.



The bottom three models will be the Chaos dwarf crew which is why they have paperclip rods sticking out of their heads for big hat goodness!

Thanks for your comment Snyggejygge, I'm not a massive fan of the big hats either, but thought that I should give them a go as an experiment and homage to the old style models. (from the current hellcannon crew, they big hats may be on the way out.) By the way does you user name actually mean anything, or is it just a funny sounding word? Just curious.....

UPDATE:



Here is an update of the hellcannon, I decided against the fiend eyes, nipples have been added to the left hand boobs, and the chaos icons have been finished off. The photo makes it look a bit weird, in real life it is a lot better, trust me!



Here are the Chaos Dwarves at about 70% completion. I have a feeling that they may be a couple of mm too tall, but hey ho. The big hat will obviously be filled out, and I am particularly pleased with sculpting two of the fists from two blobs of green stuff. Overall not too bad I think since I don't have a Dwarf model to compare them with.

Looking good so far slaaaanesh. The hellcannon is looking promising with those nice slaaneshy details you've added. The chaos dwarf idea has worked well too, although i think those hats might be a bit extreme personally. That lord's mount is a wicked idea too, looks suitably chaotic!

I know what you are saying, the big hat idea was tested, well...... tested with my mediocre sculpting abilities, and BIG HATS have now been discarded.

Therefore work has now begun on evil visors as akin to the metal hell cannon crew. Pictures hopefully tomorrow.

As promised here are more WIP of the Chaos dwarves.



The masks are shaped out, so the visor slits need finishing. Although I'm a bit nervous about sculpting the chaos symbol on the helmet. Looks like it is quite intricate detailing. Anybody got any tips/special tools for working tiny details?

The backs have been filled out with my first attempts at chainmail/plating effect. The shoulders will have fur sculpted to continue the fur from the origonal chaos warrior bit.

I'm vary behind myself this month for the fantasy gamers, mainly because I went to work on some the 40k stuff.

I've decided that the tail that I had initially sculpted was too short so now there is a new fangled wire armature for a massive one. The idea is that instead of having the Chaos Dwarves shovel nodies into a furnace for the hellcannon to consume, the tail would sting victims and gather souls that way. As an additional update bases have been made for the hellcannon and crew.


And I've started the painting for the general but I cannot decide what colour to paint the daemonic mount. The armour will be purple, skin a pale white flesh with a purple wash tint to it.

This model is kind of like a test model for the rest of the army which will feature colour elements of the general.



So what suggestions on how to paint this baby!

I bit the bullet and painted up most of the general and went for a blue daemonic mount.

Man I'm sorry about the slow progress.

I haven't been happy with the hellcannon, and have made a few more alterations:
1) The cannon has been lengthened with pipes at varying heights to give a more interesting composition.
2) The tail has been repositioned to look like it is readying to strike, and a miliput core has been applied and will be bulked out appropriately.
3) The larger wheels will be mounted lower on the chasis, this has given the cannon a more upright look which I like.
4) Work has begun on claws which will come out of the wheel axles.



The general has had the predominantely purple armour changed to black with purple highlights. I want to try some freehand work too so there is the start of a Slannesh symbol on the ripped cape.

I think your very brave for doing the daemonic mount blue and sitting it next to the pink edged armour. There is quite a contrast. The skin tone is nice, and I like the conversion now its been painted up. A few tidy ups on the armour and it should look sweet. Nice work.

It's been a long time coming but finally I think painting can begin on the Warriors of Chaos army.

First up I have some Chaos Knights and a converted champion to paint as my paint scheme testers.



So far I have undercoated them in white, sprayed them with a base coat of warlock purple and washed them with leviathan purple. With this being a Slaaneshi themed army, I will paint the armour trim gold. I have also been planning for the base to be a dusty red colour. Does anybody have any advice on painting these models as I definitely need it.

The Wulfrik conversion looks really good and what you were doing with your Hellcannon looks promising! What's happened to the big warmachine-beasty of doom? I paint all the purples in my Slaanesh army (not many as I wanted to do something a bit different) starting from Liche Purple and highlighting up to Warlock Purple, I take it you're going for a more pinkish/mauve look on the armour?
