That was a great tutorial. I'm not huge on tanks, so may well never use it, but it was great to see.
I look forward to the next time you do non-tank models.

Also, those Heroes from LNoE were great. They were much better painted than you seemed to think. I stuck with the box/card art very closely as I had forgotten to ask the people I was doing the commission for, but I really liked the interpretations you brought.

Unfortunately its all tanks this week! I'm unsure at the moment what to do for next week... might be a mix of Space Marine Terminators and WHFB Chaos (i still need to finish that commission) or that small consignment of Elysians.

The guy I did the LNoE for likes them a lot. He found the chainsaw butcher his favorite.

    Two things, though:

    Isn't that mix very thick?
I believe me even thinking about it makes my airbrush clog up.

    What is a Gundam Marker?
    Cheers.

The ratio is a bit of an estimate. I set my pressure quite high for my compressor so that it has a fair amount of tolerance when pushing out thicker paint. If need be, the ratio can be 35:25:30. Do adjust accordingly because different airbrushes have different tolerances, especially if the nozzle is smaller (mine is 0.25)

Gundam Marker is a Japanese made hobby marker made specifically for drawing the panel lines of models. It comes in two flavors; water and oil based. I opt for the water based one here because I don't need the slow drying qualities of the oil based one.

It comes in various colours and sets, so you have a spectrum of things to choose from. The one I got is Black and Brush type tip (GM20 [200]). There are also Fine tip ones but I think its not really suitable as the tip is too small for ample coverage of GW's rather large vehicle panel lines.

The fine tipped markers might be more suitable for Tau Crisis Suits though.

The marker is also very cheap for the work it does. I shortened the time I spent for those panel lines by half. Some purists use freehand brush + flow enhancer to do the same work... but I feel its too tedious and unnecessary.

Its the end product that counts really.

That sounds like a very helpful product, but I'm not sure I understand what sets it apart from other markers. Couldn't one just use one made by Sharpie or Edding, which are easier to find?

I think Sharpie or Edding markers are also suitable substitutes. But I have never used them before to really evaluate the quality of those markers.

I know that Gundam markers are colour fast and dry quickly (there is also the oil based one for more elaborate applications). I quite like the tip of the one I used which is better than the Copic Marker because the Copic's ink is alcoholic and tends to also remove the base coat and eventually ruin the tip.

My opinion is as long as the marker is water based, has a good durable tip and offers good coverage, it makes for a great tool for stuff like Eldar & Tau vehicles.

Nice tutorial. The Falcon looks ace!

Great tip with the Gundam Marker. I've never bothered trying them out, as I never painted any of my Gundam model kits. I'll be giving them a go now. I guess living in Singapore has some advantages as it is closer to Japan, and there are a lot of Gundam enthusiast here, making these products readily available.

    Cheers!

Funniest/coolest line I've read on Warseer! And a pretty good description of the plogs above.

You do know what time it is, right? GROUP SHOT! If possible, surrounded by scenery and firing away at a Space Marine tank?

Not gonna happen dude! I already returned 5 of the vehicles I did earlier the week to the owner. (he needed them for a game).

Maybe I can get a snap shot tomorrow during a game if he brings his Eldar army just for you.

    Re: Putty's Project Plog

Had a bit of an inspired moment to finish painting the tanks for my BA custom successor army for a day of 40k battle-fest held yesterday.

The marines aren't painted though (only 3 / 25) and I had to borrow a friend's Librarian (coz the store didn't have any I could buy... and I forgotten to get one prior)

Indeed. They are the last few units left in the big WoC commission I started last year.

All I have left is a unit of Maruader Horsemen, Chaos Knights and Chariot.

    Today: Undivided Marauders!

Thanks! The Blood Angels successor chapter is at 1750 pts currently. I received a bunch of Marines from a friend and I am planning to convert 5 combi melta sternguards, 5 combi plasma sternguards, 20 assault marines with jump-pack removed with 4 meltaguns (to stuff into rhinos) and 2 drop pods for those sternguards.

I may/may not get 2 Furioso dreadnoughts to further expand the army... but the price of those things are kind of putting me off.

The marauder models are VERY old. I think that head is uber retro! When I used to have a WoC army, I used Warrior helmed heads as champions.

    But this isn't my army...

Yap, I freehanded a Chaos star before packing it away. Upon finishing the Chariot, 5 Marauder Horsemen and 5 Knights, the proud owner of the army can finally collect them!
