What's this all about you ask?

The WarSeer Community is working on creating a marine chapter, made up of individual marine models, built, painted and named by it's members. When the project is finally finished we would literally have created a chapter, with every marine named and his exploits recorded for all time.

What do I need to join?

A single marine model that you will paint up (in an agreed paint scheme) and send in to a central point. There the entire army will be photographed and brought out for display during WarSeer Tournaments. (If the project gets really large there is talk of contacting White Dwarf.) That marine can be a two piece snap together, plastic, lead, pewter or combination thereof; mounted on a 25 mm round base and armed as appropriate to his position in the company following Codex Space Marines (with the True Grit trait so in addition to a regular Bolter he may carry a close combat weapon - chainsword, combat knife, axe, pointy stick)

Company Markings are a White Roman Numeral 5 (V) on the left knee pad, kneepad may be painted black, which is our Company Colour. A squad may opt to paint their shoulder pad rims black as well, or leave them the standard blue.
Squad markings are in white on the right shoulder pad. Squad numbers may be in black roman numerals within the squad symbol.

We will be adhering to the colour scheme voted on by WarSeer. We will also be arming ourselves with Codex weaponry. Some of you have already indicated that they would like to add some bits from other Marine lines to their figure, my feelings are go right ahead. Below are some of my thoughts and ideas on the subject.

A Space Marine's armour is like a living historical document, covered with litanies of faith, devotional icons or emblems of their particular chapter, purity seals, awards and decorations of bravery, etc. The intent of the latest edition of the Space Marine Codex was to demonstrate that the Space Marine Warrior is a hero, who has served on hundreds of battlefields.

So members should add small tokens (a purity seal for devotion to duty - WarSeer Painting Support Group – my suggestion only, feel free to suggest a better one if you think of something), a nameplate on the shoulder pad (for guilder status), trophies (for Arena of Death participation), medals (for WarSeer Awards), devotional litanies written on leg armour (Member of the WarSeer Book Club), a quill symbol under the Chapter Symbol (waistoid contributor), there could even be (for those who feel that they wish to atone for previous transgressions) a sash of shame (like the Reiksgard Knight in WFB Armies Empire Book picture) a cloth draped over the Chapter Symbol to represent that the individual seeks redemption, etc.

A word to the wise, those that put too much on their Marine will look silly when standing by their battle brothers...so choose wisely. In fact those that do not spam, lurk and enjoy the community will have the cleanest (and possibly most noticeable) Marines.

I like the purity seal idea. I'm definately going to add purity seals to my marine to show my allegiance to the WPSG. I'll also add a nameplate to the shoulder pad.

Oh, and I've found a Space Wolf head that looks just like me! Mind if I ditch my helmet?

Mine looks more like Kurt Russell in the movie 'Soldier' than it resembles me (as I only have scars on my chin).

Nice mini Captain Brown, one thing though, wouldn't he look alot more dynamic if he's right leg was a little bit more forward then the left one?

It maybe just is the pic, but if it isn't and it isn't to much of a trouble to reposition the leg, you maybe should consider it.

I will not be able to get going on my mini for a little while... I will need some more money first so I can get some stuff I need for the mini (or I'll just swap a few bits with my friends).

And one thing, people, do not stress this! Take the time you need...

Totally plastic. He is converted from a Marine Biker Torso and Legs.

Sorry immortal99 but all Commander, Techmarine, Librarian, Apothocary, and similar positions are reserved for Admins and Moderators of WarSeer.

If you want to sign up with us, it is for a regular marine (although as you can see from the project each marine is a little work of art). We do have spots in the assault and devastator squads (if you feel that the bolter is too plain), but sorry I have no authority to reserve you a Commander spot. Appreciate your interest though and if you do wish to sign on send me or one of the sergeants a PM or post below.

No deadline has been set, but the Moderators have indicated they would like the marines delivered before the first WarSeer tournament (I think Nick has it in about six months).

I have Pm'd for an Assault Marine. I have reserved a name, I guess all that is needed is a Marine, c/w Jump Pack. I'll get back to you over the weekend.

Mind you, I think you should set a tighter deadline than Nick wants, we are here for a reason remember. Not being the most motivated and speedy painters in the galaxy....

The tighter the deadline the greater chance of success! I'm aiming to get mine done ASAP so I can concentrate on the Beastmen for a January Tourney!

So ya, I wasnt sure if I would be joining or not. but now seeing the first converted model... Im in. How do I get assigned to a squad? I did the reserve name thing and voted on colours etc. just need my squad.
