    These look really good!

I've been thinking about starting up a deathwing force but I was having problems thinking of a paint scheme I liked, but you've solved my problem.

    Re: Gibbtall's Salamanders WIP

So a little bit of an update. I had a friend over who happened to bring her digicam, so I stole it for a bit.

My Standerd Bearer is almost done, just have to do his hammer arm and corrosponding shoulder. Then his banner eventualy.

Here is the first of my marines, still ened to do some more shadeing on the black, and figure out what/where i'll be putting chapter/squad icons.

Here is a little line up of all my Independant Characters I've built up, not includeing the Standerd Bearer. I don't want to start work on them untill I get more rines done, otherwise I'll have a bunch of HQ and no Troops :P

From left to right: Apothocary, cool looking guy with hammer, not sure what hell end up being, another cool hammer guy, Librarian

And ever since I got that Librarian model I've had some crazy ideas about him. This will be his Familiar, after a vigerouse conversion.

I also have a new weapon for the Librarian planned. Rather then his big two handed sword, I'll be modifying it into a hammer (der) with a torch in the middle of it (OMG). should look awsome if I do it correctly :P but that's a ways off.

great start to your army, it'll look very nice once done.

what you got planned army wise, or are you just going to paint what you feel like doing?

I havn't thought too much about exact units. But I'll probably go heavy troops, with a few rhinos. Course I'll have to buy the Redeamer once it's out XD just for the sake of makeing an uber Sally Redeamer :P

Great Salamanders, but shouldn't the robes on your Standard Bearer be a different colour? Looks kinda bland as it is

Oh... sorry, that was an entirely different forum ^.^ Well ya, my friends, and obviously other people on other forums said the same thing. So far I'm gunna keep him how he is, i'm hoping that when I add his hammer arm + shoulderpad + backpack + banner, the black and silver in all of those should even him out alot more.

    Re: Gibbtall's Salamanders WIP

Ok, so it's been a while since I've posted, which I knew would happen. So a nice big update for you this time, I've bought a MORE models, like an idiot, and am now dangerously close to debt with my parents if I don't find a job quick :P BUT good news is I got some models cheap and some for free XD

I recently ordered a rhino and 10 rines on ebay, saveing myself like $60+ which I'm happy about. Then today my friend gave me a bunch of free models and bits. The story behind it is odd, aparently his sisters ex used to play and left a bunch of stuff at his place so its been forfited since it was ages ago. Some of the models are really old, like 3rd ed snap together guys, so most of them I wont bother useing. I also ordered some bits from GW for multiple uses.

I havn't been painting much lately, but being frustrated with spore will hopefully make me want to paint some more. I've been attacking myself with forums and blogs of other peoples projects in order to spur myself into doing more :P

I've updated my list of models at the top to include everything.

These are the rines I WILL be useing, most likely at least. There are 5 marines that are esentialy fine, I just want to fix some random past conversions to make them look better. Then there are 2 with rockit launchers, and 1 with a plasma canon, I'm not sure if I'll be useing them as is or replaceing the weapons some time for flamerish weapons. Then there are 4 Khorn Marines which in theory are easily converted, just some model knife madness really. If worst comes to worst, I probably have enough torsos, heads, packs and arms to fix them. There is also Techmarine, which is nice since I didn't have one yet.

These are what I ordered from GW. The priest of sigmar is from Mordhiem, and I got him primarily for the torch on top of his staff, secondly for the book that also went on the staff. The hammers were for there obviouse use, some convertions here and there of hammers rather then swords etc. And the books are pretty much casue the books are awsome :P also from Mordhiem, this little blister came with a nice asortment of any seporate tombs that they could muster, some are from lizerdmen, some from chaos, some from dwarves :P. I'll most likely be putting the one that's like chained open for a future tank detail. Not sure about the rest :P.

    Re: Gibbtall's Salamanders WIP

There are the models I don't plan on useing any time soon. They are all either useless to me or not of a modeling quality I feel like fixing.

These are what I'm currently painting, my first 5 marines, lol. I mostly just have highlighting to do for the green and black then theyll be done. But my brain dies any time I try to paint them so it's slow going.

A close up shot of the torch, it will be part of my Librarians thunder/fire hammer, imagine this with two hammer heads on either side of it XD.

And the finished hammer arm of the Standerd Bearer, I'v never painted a thunder hammer before, so wasn't sure how to go about it, sorry for the glare on it but (INTERUPTION, I just got a call from my mom saying that the tank and rines I ordered have arived :P) it looks nice in real life. I drybrushed it boltgun like I've been doign with everything, but then used ultramarine blue to highlight the edges.

And a detail of his bum casue I missed it last time.

On a semi-unrelated note, I purchased these squigs the other day.

Their pretty sick :P I spotted them in a comic store nearby and had to have them, I'm pretty sure their from like 2nd edition, heh.

Lookin' good, I like the nice, sharp color scheme you've got going, keep it up! Always good to see another Salamanders army on the go.

you should consider thinner paint (Everyone can always consider thinner paint!!) but especially on those flames. + you might want to consider more light based or directional highlighting on the amour plates? Or if not, try using your left hand (if your right handed) to support your hand to steady out your highlights.

    Re: Gibbtall's Salamanders WIP

Thinner paint would be good, ya, problem is I was stupid and painted a bunch with my scoprion green with the pot open so now it's gotten a bit thick. I agree, my hand isn't as steady as it should be sometimes :P. As for directional lighting, I went a bit overboard on my first rine, but corrected it a bit on my second, looks nicer.
