for updated rules.
Thanks Lion,
Hmmm.... 270pts and no plus to reserve plus not extra central weapon (Assault Cannon/Hvy Bolters). Not sure what the reason for this is. I'll still give it a go since I can use it for my troops.

I have huge success with my Deathwing. I just have one question. What is the best way to arm Belial?
I technically run "siegewing." This is the list:
Belial 130
Term. Squad 1 (w/ apoth, chianfist, assault cannon) 280
Term. Squad 2 (w/ chainfist, assault cannon) 250
Term. Squad 3 (w/ chainfist, assault cannon) 250
Term. Squad 4 (w/ chainfist, assault cannon) 250
Term. Squad 5 (w/ chainfist, assault cannon) 250
Vindicator (w/ extra armor, dozer blade) 145
Vindicator (w/ extra armor, dozer blade) 145
Vindicator (w/ extra armor, dozer blade) 145
TOTAL: 1845
I just can't figure out the best way run Belial. He is such a horrible HQ but I have to pick him to make my list legal. I have been using him with the storm bolter and mc power sword. I have been using him like this because I wanted to maximize my firepower. I know 2 shots isnt much but with BS 5 I usually cause one wound.
What I am considering is using him with LC because of the boost in CC.
What is the better option? and would it be better to use magnets so I can switch it out as needed?
Please help!
Hmm, belial. I usually use the LC version but that's just because I run assault.
I suppose the SB/MC PS is ok if you run shooty. He'll likely cause some damage on the way with the SB. and you'll shoot more than you are in assault.
For a shooty list the TH&SS belia lis right out. He's basically just pointless. If you do run a more assaulty list you can try the TH&SS as a sort of backup anti vehicle HQ. You only have 1 CF in the squads so an HQ backing them up with 4 Str 8 attacks may come in handy. But generally I'll just go LCs for the bloke-murdering ability.
For that specific siege wing ist, I say stick with SB/MC PS. Its not too much worse than the LCs and you should get enough shots off to make the SB count.
I have a quick question about the IA2 link posted above. I see that the Mortis Dread is listed as being able to be used by the Dark Angels. 1) Has anyone used it to success, and 2) what are the rules for using it? Do I need my opponents permission, or can I just decide to use it?
I think it looks like a fun and fluffy unit to use, especially with the dual twin autocannons.
Thanks all!
Jack's three rules of combat:
1) Never bring a knife to a gun fight.
2) Bring a bigger gun.
3) Bring all your friends.
-An armed man will kill an unarmed man with monotonous regularity.
I use one...2 x TLLC's, meant I could replace my Godhammer for another LRC. I've had succes with it by having it snipe away at long range.
Rules for it...well it's a Walker so those still apply.
Permission to use it....depends where and who you play with I suppose. I generally have no trouble fielding it, but I think most FW stuff requires an opponent to agree to it's use.
It isn't overpowered and is fairly costed (imo) so I can't see why anyone would have a problem with it...but you never know.
You accuse me of being a Madman.
What right do you have to judge what is sane and what is not?
The mortis dread is unofficial for any tournaments, gts, ect. You need to ask your opponent. I wouldn't get excited about it if you intend to play in tournaments...
Anyway, I've got some games in with my DW, and I've decided on my 1850 list.
Belial, Twin Lightening Claws
Chaplain
Dreanought, Twin Linked Lascannon
Terminator Squad, 4 Lightening Claws, Sergeant w/ SB and Chainfist, Chapter Banner
Terminator Squad, CML, Apothecary
Terminator Squad, CML
5 Inquisitional Storm Troopers, 2 Meltaguns
Land Raider Crusader, Extra Armor
Land Raider, Extra Armor
Vindicator
1845 pts
Chaplain, Belial and LC Terminators ride in the crusader. This unit delivers devastating S4 power weapon attacks... 25 Lightening Claws, 5 Power Weapons, 4 Chainfists, all with reroll hits.
The IST ride in the Land Raider. They are protected, give reliable anti tank, and mobile scoring. The army is very small, somewhere in the neighborhood of 26 models, but I can deal with many armies. It helps also I roll very good with terminator armor saves.
@ Ork: You are not alllowed to put the banner in one squad and the apoth in another squad. They must be in the same squad. Other then that I think it is a very nive list.
Ork those ISTs are a nice points filler. Good choice! But hide them wellCompared to AV14 and DW squads with 2+, the 4+ ISTs will be an attractive target
n.b. It's lightning, instead of lightening
Just a question, how are you taking the IST's?
For those who are using siegewing. How necessary are extra armour and dozerblades on the vindicators?
I like Beliel with the lightning claws. 5 attacks is better than 1 re-roll for master crafted plus you can re-roll the wounds. And again how do add Imperial Storm Trooper's to a dark angels list?
Red Beard,
For your army I would keep Belial with the Master Crafted Power Sword and Storm Bolter combo. It's the one that allows you to get the most mileage for your points.
I've used this guy to pop small bugs, guardsmen, marines and what not at range. The sword is OK vs. most. I've used it to take it on a Lictor and won after two turns. Luck was on my side but I did win
Lightning Claws are best if you plan on assaulting a lot and your list does not appear to be geared towards that.
aaronaleong,
Codex: Witch Hunters and Daemonhunters allows you to give another Imperial army 2 squads of Inquisitorial Storm Troopers. You can also get on HQ and one Elite slot from the above mentioned Codicies as well.

The Mortis Dreadnought:
I used to have one (Some scrote stole it from my games club)
I liked the TLLC version but its very expensive, I used the Heavy Bolter version a lot but we really don't need the anti-infantry now (Back in the day we could have only 0-1 Crusader)
I think I'd recomend the 2x Missile Launcher Mortis. They aren't twin linked but you get 2 48" range shots so you can keep the dread right back out of range of all those 36" anti tank reprisals and str 8 is decent AT or MC killers. Its also really quite cheap at 115 points.
A lot of people like the autocannon one, I never really clicked with it but I can see its uses. It also looks cool.
I dont think the dozer blades are something you HAVE to have. They have helped me twice in the last 5 games.
As far as the extra armor goes...I have been playing a long time and extra armor used to be a must. Now its a 1 in 6 chance you will use it.
I like them for the just in case.
i use the twin autocannon mortis regularly. 4 twinlinked str7 ap4 shots are just wonderful. Great for popping low armor vehicles or mid-toughness guys. Even better, it's all at 48".
I forgot about having to put the Apoth/Banner in the same unit. I should make the Lightning Claw unit harder to kill, and they will spend their fair share of time standing in the open after wiping a unit out in assault.
The IST: I take them as an ally from the DH or WH codex. They are very vulnerable, hence I always keep mine in the Land Raider. Then they're always prepared to jump out with 2 BS4 Meltaguns, or they hide in the LR, making the Land Raider essentially count as scoring. It's very effective, as it's it quite easy to tank shock the enemy off the objective with the LR, claiming it yourself.
Wow, that is a very cool way to make the LR scoring plus have an anti-tank ace in the hole. Very similar to the DAVU Wave Serpent. Having a choice of exit doors on the LR is a nice bonus to keep the guys in cover.
Have you tried giving the ISTs other weapons to see how PGs would work?
