OMG! yay. super storm shields and cyclones Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
this army now powns more.
I'm glad I magnetized my cyclone missile launchers. I have 3 cyclones so far from the new plastic termi boxes, and I've magnetized them with little.. 2-3 mm round magnets, one on each contact point. I all ready had a few models with storm bolter/power fist magnetized for them. But now that I'm looking to get some assault terminators I can magnetize them too for added options!
Now if only HQ IC's in termi armor could be equipped with cyclone launcher, assault cannon, or heavy flamer. Belial with TH/SS and cyclone would be so much awesome.
hows chainfists worded? is it an upgrade for powerfists, or can anyone have one? cyclone, th/ss, and chainfists? 2 krak shots, 2d6 armour pen, and stunning? or am i way off?
It's an upgrade for PF or PW, same cost in either case.
EDIT: I should mention that I do not love the Deathwing.
As of this latest faq your probably the only one.
Hail to Allornone, black crusader, lord champion of the long war, eviscerator of light, warlord of chaos..
Don't confuse toy soldiers and real life.
Brother Dean :
Both would work, but White most certainly. The white color was adopted to salute a great deed. So even prior armor would have gotten repainted.
So Black if you play "all black" or white if you play regular DW. Black in a white army would be having one guy saying "nop, it's not such a great battle, killing a city worth of stealers with 30 terminators" ... kind of rude !

OK. Well, this is a bigger change than we've had for the list since the new codex. We now really have got a full set of wargear which is all viable the issues thrown up immediately are:
1: TH&SS are now viable, indeed 4xTH&SS and Heavy& CF may be our new best assault unit.
2: In a shooty squad it may be worth including a TH&SS model to take AP2 hits. It also gets a full 5 "Sets" of models to distribute wounds over. Between these I think it really may be worth losing the shooting dice.
3: CML are now equivalent to Assault cannon. I'm still not convinced of their use, 2 AP3 shots may be ok vs MEQ and 2 templates could do some damage but in general I'll stick with an assault cannon.
3: My TH&SS/CML Terminator just got a load better!
4: Belial with TH&SS just edged up to "Usable". If you take him in a LC unit he'll be all the PF attacks you need.
Losing I5is still huge though, If you look offensively he doesn't stand up to it. However he has another advantage: Plasma. Take plasma wounds on Belial and his 3 wounds will soak a few failed 3++ and make up for lack of Apothecary.
5: Librarians with Force Barrier have become a little more important as the narthecium now works differently. Force Barrier is basically a one shot 2++ save, though look out for enemy Psychic Hoods. Speaking of which, our Psy hood wasn't updated, so we still have full table cover.
6: Vehicles, specifically smoke and POTMS. Overall not as good now, the POTMS means we need pay an extra 15 points for Extra Armour, the new smoke simply isn't as good but I think the advantages from the new POTMS mostly make up for it though.
7: The apothecary now covers our biggest weakness: Being forced to make large numbers of 2+ saves. I think facing a gunline with 2+ and FNP I'd count on many more terminators surviving.
Obviously I'm happy, I have ~20 TH&SS terminators and now I may even try running an all TH&SS list!
I am considering belial as some kind of storm-shield-equipped, super secret service agent, diving in the way of all the plasma!
I'm also considering the Godhammer more, the new POTMS helps quite a bit even though a crusader can move 6" and fire everything now! Move 6" in a Godhammer and fire both lascannon is good. The crusader is still the best but the Godhammer may have a slight boost there, making it worth consideration as a 3rd LR.
okay i need help. with the new deathwing(ish) i want a better list. but i can only afford a single unit or some pieces. i've got much deathwing and amm now thinking of a half/half force. but what to take at 1500. the plan is half deathwing half mech marines.
models
termies (models with a star can be used as belial, i have no real belial)
3tlc *
3 sbps*
1 sbcf
1 hfpf
8 pfsb
3 acpf
5 thss*
termi libby with ss(dk if legl but)
termi chaplain
2 aclc preds
razorback with tllc or tlhb
21 tacs, 1 bolter sarge, 1 bpccw sarge, 1 pfbolter sarge, 1 melta, 1 flamer, 2 missiles
3 bikes with a plasma gun
mmattack bike
mm speeder
mm dreadnought.
so any ideas?
currnet plan is to used a thss/lc squad in lrc with belial. 2thss 1 tlcs 1 pfhf and a combat termie of opposite to belial(1 tlcs 1 thss) chapter banner and apoth
the a shooty squad with ac and a thss sarge (wants a cml)
then get a pair of aclc preds. thats about 1130
then either more deathwing or more marines. not sure
It may only seem like small changes but it feels like a huge difference to us DA players. My RW landspeeders are gonna change to the Typhoon/HB build just to give me long range anti tank/infantry fire. Plus my Belial and close combat terminators are magnetised so I can easily give them all thunderhammers (Once I get round to it)...so yea all in all pretty good stuff and really unexpected!!
my Post-FAQ Deathwing:
Belial
Chaplain
3 X 3TH/2LC
3 X Crusaders
Tactics:
PUNCH FACES.
OK, I think walking DW may now be viable how about:
Belail - TH&SS - 130 points - I know, I know, but he is primarily defensive in this list
DeathWing squad - 270 points
TH/SS
SB & PF
SB & CF
SB & PF & apothercary
SB & PF & CML
DeathWing squad - 240 points
TH/SS
SB & CF
SB & PF x 2
SB & PF & CML
DeathWing squad - 250 points
TH/SS
SB & CF
SB & PF x 2
AC & PF
DeathWing squad - 250 points
TH/SS
SB & CF
SB & PF x 2
AC & PF
Dreadnaught - 180 points
Dreadnaught - DCCW, HF & AssCan
Drop pod gets the dreads into ass can zone without molestation, and later in the game the opponent will need to decide what to hit, or it can drop empty to gain some cover later in the game
Dreadnaught - 180 points
Dreadnaught - DCCW, HF & AssCan
Drop pod
1500 on the nose - 21 terminators, 2 dreads
Hmm, not sure if serious.

Interesting list. Maybe keep the powerswords on your sergeants in order to maximize wound allocation. On the other hand 2S4 attacks aren't going to attribute much, where as 2 S8 attacks do.
Maybe give the dreadnoughts multi melta's for some armour busting fun, on the other hand I love the assCan's versatility.
Keep the Sgts SB&PS, the wound allocation will do more than the loss of Str 8 hits will.
I agree drop podding the dreads, they are too fragile to walk as all the AT he enemy has can be focused on them while light arms kill the troops.
What are you going to allocate to him? The TH/SS guy has an almost half chance of surviving 2 save-ignoring wounds, and you don't mind losing his TH so much if you have another PF to back you up.
I agree with Volandum, I can't see adding a weaker member of the squad helps that much. While you're right, it does add another armour set, I think "more killing>less dieing".
They're only there because I couldn't spend 100 points on anything else... But if you don't tell anyone, nor will I
EDIT - 24 people looking at this thread - my aren't we popular!
