This shouldn't be a problem with the Marauder Cav, given the darker colors on them.
Yeah, I've been working on a few ideas for the bases. Here's a quick mock up on the champion for my next warrior unit (who needs repainting).

Also, whilst I'm posting thought I'd put up a very, very, very early WIP of my first chariot seeing as chariots became a topic of conversation on the WOC Tactica thread.

Got so much I want to do to this yet but it gives you an idea of what I'm going for. The wheels will most likely be replaced or at the very least will be subject to an extreme makeover. Copious amounts of milliput need to be used and plenty more bits added before it's anywhere near done.

Also got my regiment of Black Orcs which will be being chopped up for another one of my upcoming units, more on that soon...

Good idea for the chariot, the TK one is an inspired choice, especially when made more chaotic. Don't forget the scythes though

I used a tomb king chariot as well. The only problem I have with them is that the wheels look a little dinky to support two chaos warriors. You might be able to find some wheels from 40k ork warmcahines. They're much sturdier, and still plastic. Looking good!

Hm, that Chaos chariot conversion's highly different... With just some additions of skull or buboes, it could probably work well as a nurglesque or khornate except its slaaneshi and tzeentchian inclinations in style.

The Chariot works pretty well, is there room for 2 Warriors in there though? TK Chariots are pretty small.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think I'll be using 40k ork wheels though as they all have massive OTT tyres that really won't go with the theme for the chariot. I have a few ideas for the wheels but if none of those work I'll just make some myself.

It's quite easy to convert the TK Chariots and I can see what you mean about it being quite easy to make it work as a nurglesque or khornate chariot. Mine will be nothing but Slaaneshi though!

Hi Malzeth, nice talking to you again. Yeah we'll have to get a game in in a few weeks time.
    Thanks!

I'm not entirely sure yet. It looks as though the back might need extending slightly to fit the second warrior on. I'm converting the crew for the chariot though. I'm trying an idea I plan on using on my chosen if and when I get round to making them. I'm going to try cutting the plastic warrior legs off and using them with the torsos from the new Knights. Not having the cloaks alone will help in fitting them onto the chariot. I'll let you know how that goes.

Thanks Lion. Sadly I haven't gotten round to doing anything more with the chariot that justifies updated pics but will do some more through the week hopefully. What I have done is mostly finished the marauder horsemen. Their bases need finishing off, the musician needs a shield or something for his left hand and a few bits here and there need an extra highlight.

Sadly the lighting wasn't brilliant for these pictures and a lot of the shading has been a bit lost by the camera. Which is quite disappointing because I took everybody's advice and went for more contrast particularly on the flesh and so went for a highlight of bleached bone on the muscles and it's not immediately apparent. Although the Horsemen don't have so much exposed flesh as the foot marauders.

The Horsemen made their debut performance in a battle yesterday and were demolished in turn 2. I was up against a 3000 point WOC army with 1000pts of my own and 2000pts Daemons as allies. My army didn't fare too brilliantly against 3000pts of cavalry. The best performers were my warriors but they sadly got isolated out of combat for a lot of the game and then once they managed to finally make contact made mince meat of everything they met until the received a rear charge from a unit of chaos knights. I lost the combat by 2 and then proceeded to roll double 6 for my break test and a 3 for my flee roll. Suffice to say they were trampled. Will definitely be considering the rapturous standard on them for next time to try and reduce the risk. The game finished as a solid victory to the 3000pts of Warriors but there were some very contentious rules issues that weren't played out fairly at all and some rather dubious counting up of victory points as well. But it was an interesting game all the same and it's given me some food for thought. Got a 1000pt game against empire for next week, at least in that game my Slaaneshi magic will be useful...

    Double post.

Early WIP pics of my Dragon Ogre champion.

I was unsure what to use for the heads once I'd started putting them together and went through a couple of alternatives but I really liked the look of them with the Cold One heads. Makes them more Dragon than Ogre and to me it felt more Slaaneshi to have a reptilian looking head than to have a brutish ogre like head.

Yep, that's right. Went for the new Cold Ones for the lower body and heads and Black Orcs for the torso and arms. The Black Orc torsos have to be cut below the gut plate which was harder work than I thought it'd be when I had the idea! I've filed down all the Orcy glyphs just need to make his Chaos allegiance slightly more apparent now... that and get the others done!

Re: The Devotees of Elazar - Chaos Mortals

this is my honest answer. The way they are looking, i would buy yours over the GW ones any day... you've commented on my mounted list and it's been mentioned a few times having a unit of 3.... the only reason why i dont is the models are HORRIBLE and i wouldnt waste my money for some horrible looking models.

Would it be easy for you to make a model with great weapon rather then two hand weapons?

Re: The Devotees of Elazar - Chaos Mortals

If you look at the model, the weapon in the right hand IS a greatweapon actually

Yeah, that's what I intend to do for the other two. The Black Orcs sprue has a couple of great weapons torsos and arms. I just wanted the champion to be carrying two weapons to make him stand out (and to maybe explain his extra attack) and as Neknoh says the axe looks to be a great weapon and I intend on using them as great weapon carrying Dragon Ogres.

Thank you for the compliment. I was the same. I really love the fluff and the usefulness of the unit but the models are so ugly and outdated now that I wanted to do something different and I didn't want to have the same Cold One/Iron Gut combo as everybody else who has made them themselves (not least because I want to make a unit of Chaos Ogres at some point and I can't have them all looking the same!)

This is shaping up really nicely. I like the conversion work and the paint scheme. Very cool mounted marauders there.

    Thank you very much.

No photo updates as of yet. I've started painting the unit of Knights. I scrapped a lot of the ideas I had to try and do something very different with them as they either looked too cluttered or there was something just not right with them. The back banner poles were scrapped as well because I made all the poles ready to put pennants on once they were painted and they looked like horses from some sort of scary chaos merry-go-round so I scrapped that idea. I like the way their helms look with the minor changes I've made to them and I have a few small little things to give the unit a bit more character. Hope to have a few pics on an update in a day or two.

Re: The Devotees of Elazar - Chaos Mortals

Had a 1000pt game today with the following list against an Empire army.

    Gaizka The Warped - 175pts
    Chaos Sorcerer
    MOS
    Power Familiar
    Book of Secrets
    Level 2

    14 Marauders - 114pts
    MOS
    Great Weapons
    Light Armour
    Full Command

    12 Warriors - 256pts
    MOS
    Great Weapons
    Shields
    Full Command

    5 Marauder Horsemen - 91pts
    MOS
    Flails
    Musician

    5 Warhounds - 30pts

    5 Warhounds - 30pts

    6 Chaos Knights - 300pts
    MOS
    Full Command

Can't remember my opponents army entirely but he had roughly:

    Warrior Priest
    10 Handgunners
    10 Handgunners
    10 Crossbowman
    20 Archers
    Hellblaster
    5 Knights
    6 Inner Circle Knights

The game started well. I rolled Hellshriek, Titillating Delusions and Steal Soul (Book of Secrets) for Gaizka's spells. My opponent had to deploy first and I got the first turn. With deployment I put everything but my warhounds on my right flank with a watchtower blocking LOS for the Hellcannon. I positioned one group of 5 warhounds in the bottom left corner and the other in the centre of the table.

1st turn was fairly uneventful. The unit of warhounds in the centre of the table got blown to kingdom come by the empires missile fire and the rest of the army advanced with the exception of the other 5 warhounds who stayed in the corner behind a couple of buildings.

2nd turn my army advanced further up with the unit of warriors forking around the watch tower to meet the unit of knights that were making their way towards the centre of my deployment zone to work their way to the flanks of my army. The magic phase was quite successful. I cast steal soul on his general which was dispelled and then cast Titillating Delusions on the Inner Circle knights and sent them running off towards the centre of the table leaving my knights in a prime position to get a charge off against the Warrior Priest who was skulking about on his own or a unit of very squishy looking Handgunners. The empire shooting phase was fairly ineffective. Only the crossbowmen and the Hellblaster could draw LOS to anything. The Crossbowmen fired at the knights but failed to wound and the Hellblaster misfired and so couldn't shoot this turn. The warrior priests prayer was dispelled easily and so we moved onto the 3rd turn.

I started by charging the Knights into the Warrior Priest. The warriors marched forward awaiting the charge of the Empire Knights. The rest of my army manouvered round with the Marauder Horsemen lining up to go into the flanks of the handgunners behind the combat involving the Knights and the Warrior Priest. In the magic phase I recast Titillating Delusions on the Hellcannon to stop that from shooting the next turn and my opponent failed to dispel. I failed to get any other spells cast. In close combat the Knights champion tore the Warrior Priest to shreds and then they managed to overrun into the Handgunners. The Handgunners were decimated by the Knights who charged off of the board enjoying the carnage. The empire started their third turn by charging the Inner Circle Knights into the Chaos Warriors and moving the bowmen so that they might be able to bring their long range firepower into play. The Hellblaster went for a walk so never got to fire. None of the Empire missile troops could draw LOS to anything again with the exception of the Marauder Horsemen who lost one of their number. With the Warrior Priest dead the Magic Phase was quiet with the exception of a failed attempt to dispel Titillating Delusions. In close combat the Inner circle Knights killed 3 warriors. The remaining 3 including the champion struck back with their 7 attacks and hit seven times and scored 7 wounds. Was a rather nice spot of luck on those rolls!

On the 4th turn the Knights returned to the table ready to wreak further carnage in the following turn. The Marauder Horsemen charged into the Crossbowmen. The foot Marauders continued to advance up the flank lagging behind the battle line and looking unlikely to see any combat. The warriors moved forward towards the approaching Hellcannon ready to intercept. No magic was cast as I wanted to keep Titillating Delusions running on the Hellblaster. In close combat the Marauder Horsemen took out 2 Crossbowmen but they passed their break test and held firm.
The Empire 4th turn saw the other unit of Knights moving to go after the Warhounds who were camped out in the small village in the bottom left of the board which was what I hoped would happen. This effectively took the Knights out of the game as they went to deny a 30 point unit taking 100 VP for the table quarter. The Hellblaster moved forward again edging towards the Warriors. The shooting phase was quite devastating for the Warriors. The combined firepower of the Handgunners and the Bowmen felled 8 of the remaining 9 warriors leaving the lonely champion. Close combat saw the Marauder Horsemen kill another 2 Crossbowmen and this time they broke, were run down and the Horsemen managed to reach the Handgunners and cause another 2 deaths but the Handgunners held firm.

5th turn started with my Knights charging into the Hellblaster and my lonely Warrior Champion charging into the bowmen to avenge his fallen brothers. there was 128 VP tied up in this one Warrior and I wasn't going to let that fall to an arrow. In the magic phase I cast Steal Soul on the Hellblaster crew slaying 1 and leaving only 2 crewmen for the Knights to make mincemeat of. The Marauder Horsemen made another 2 kills (they killed 2 Empire troops every turn of combat which thanks to the flank charges was enough!) and broke the Handgunners running them down. The Knights tore the remaining Crewmen of the Hellblaster into tiny pieces and then managed to overrun into the combat involving the lonely Warrior and the Bowmen. Suddenly this would be very interesting. The champion went first slaying 2 bowmen. Then the Knights tore down 9 and their steeds another 3! The bowmen were outnumbered suddenly and broke from combat. Amazingly they managed to roll higher on their flee roll than both the Warrior champion and the Knights and sat perched just before the table edge.
The Empire turn saw the Knights charge the flank of the Warhounds who were wiped out as expected and the bowmen rally.

Turn 6 saw me completely forget to declare charges before I decided to march my foot marauders who had managed to spend the entire game out of combat and 2 turns behind their companions. Luckily I managed to cast Titillating delusions on the bowmen and set a point so they'd have to charge the Knights and luckily it wasn't dispelled. The Warrior moved out of the way of everyone and sat down to rest next to a building very proud of the fact that he had survived! The Marauder Horsemen moved across the table to contest the table quarter with the Knights who had slain the Warhounds.
In the empire turn the Knights declared a charge against the Horsemen but with the interposing terrain fell short and failed their charge and the bowmen charged into the Chaos Knights who waited with gleeful smiles on their faces I imagine. Close combat saw the Bowmen manage to fell 1 Knight and then the Knights struck back slaying all but 2 bowmen who broke and were run down to finish the game off.

I had two table quarters and only the 2 Warhound units granted full VP for my opponent and the Warriors were the only unit to give half VP. It was a massacre with a 942 difference! A lot of luck went my way in this game. My magic proved to be exceedinly effective. Titillating Delusions caused a lot of damage to my opponents plan and rendered the Hellblaster completely ineffective. My Warriors proved to be lethal against the Inner Circle Knights and I go very very lucky with my dice rolling in that combat. The Champion's performance was legendary! The Marauder Horsemen were quite effective for such a cheap unit whereas the Marauders on foot just went around as a completely unnecessary bodyguard to my Sorcerer and never saw a drop of blood for the whole game. The Chaos Knights were absolutely devastating and what my magic couldn't manipulate the Knights hit very very hard.

Anyway, thought I'd give a report on the battle. I have a quick WIP shot of the Musician from the Chaos Knights. I'm quite pleased with the face. It's the best I've painted so far I think.

Wanted to post a few WIP shots of the Knights, first the command group:

Then the rest of the Knights:

The models are an absolute joy to paint as there is so many nice little bits to each one. The armour isn't quite coming out how I want it to but I'm working on it. Pleased with the musician's head but not sure what to do with his horn.

Let me know what you think. Been working on a few other things in between painting so might post some more pics of them later on.

Good idea painting them befor ataching bits wot get in the way like baners and shoulder pads, i always get to excited when i'm building to think about that..

Some nice little touches (like the horns) will make the unit stand out from a standard knights unit

How about a gold to match the champions head on the horn?
