Rev you've nailed this look!
Absolutely striking combination of parts, and colour choice... simply superb!

Great to see you're still alive mate, and painting beautifully as ever. The GK thousand sons are the best I've seen, choice of parts and posing is just superb.
The one thing I don't like however are the bases, they just don't look right, not as elegant as the GW bases we are used too. To me it looks like they are all running around on top of bathplugs or something lol. Not you fault of course, just and observation.
Look forawrd to what you come up with next.
Cheers

Perhaps just the top part of these bases with a thin piece of stiff plastic, or perhaps a coin, glued to the bottom would do the job?

He's back!
Excellent work rev, this certainly seems to have flew by now that the update is here, and may I say they look awesome, they've turned out really well, the red and white (a heinous colour combination) look so awesome together.
Here's some of my stuff in the GW cabinets at Warhammer world over the Christmas period;
Get up there any have a look if you get the time! It'll be on show till Feb.

Congrats on the display casing Rev.
really good work keep it up!
Nice...so we can see the armies for real...
one thing though...were those not sold already?
That's awesome Rev, well done, and well deserved![]()
Those who know don't care any more, and those who care don't know.
Haha - well spotted.
Yes indeed they were, to a fellow warseer in fact.
When GW made contact I had to tell them that I dont actually own a lot of the armies that they'd seen as I sell them on. Fortunately I recently moved to within an hour of the noise marine owner who very kindly agreed to let me display them for a few months.
Rev
i see...very cool....makes me wonder though what armies you do still have and play with?
Thousand Sons
I've now finished the infantry componant of the 1ksons!
First up I decided to change the bases. I was never really happy with the ones I'd used originally and saw these offerings from voodooworx - I fell in love and had to have them!
They're the alien temple range, and look as good in flesh as they do on the site. Plus they came pre sanded on the bottom - amazing attention to detail in these days of finecast shockers. I debated the scheme for a while and even went into the heresey art books for some inspiration. I liked the idea of a Prospero/Tizca themed base underfoot. I used gold originally but it looked really gaudy so went with a rose colour instead. I quite like the end result!
Anyway, I've now got 40 marines done. 30 tacticals, 5 assault marines and 5 devestators. In the future I'll be considering a contemptor, 3 rhinos and maye a razor back to accompany the infantry. The HQ is based on the Sevrin Loth model, and I'm considering doing it blue and yellow rather than red. Thoughts?
The force uses a mixture of parts, from chaos marines and normal space marines to some of my old 80's rogue trader bits mixed in.

The first pics to show you are the assault marines.
The 5 jet packs are original metal Rogue trader ones. The models use tomb kings blades to represent CCW's and the squad leader a psychic attack which would be either power fist or power weapon...depends on your mood.
I only had 5 blades and 5 jump packs, which went a long way to dictating the squad size...!

These look great Rev... i like the sergeant with the psychic attack...
Very nice OSL and he has a lot of character
Thanks guys Here are the normal troopers.
I decided to use the Tzeentch shoulder pads (I only had 4/5) on the assault marines to i) differentiate them from the tacticals a bit more and ii) give a bit of a head nod to events as yet to unfold...!
