    7000pointsworthofHighElves

    Last year I joined the warseer community and I must say I've always enjoyed watching these threads, especially the modelling threads and the rumour roundup thread for WHFB. I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread myself and share my modelling experience and ofcourse: pictures of the models!

    My HE army started when I started playing warhammer. When LOTR the fellowship of the ring was released (the film) I purchased the HE army deal for the 6th edition. I already knew the game since I tried to make a game based on warhammer rules for WWII wargaming (I did not know WH40K existed). Because of this, I had already translated the rules and obviously could not resist reading about the armies as well. I read both the 5th ed battle book and rules book. Modelling I've been doing since the age of 8.

    Choosing High Elves was simple: my armies (in my opinion) needs to be reliable. For some reason I always hated the dwarfs (to small, not graceful enough or just stunty) and I really liked the High Elves. Other reliable options, such as tomb kings (which did not exist as such at the time, btw) and VC were less attractive than HE's. I do own a 4000 point TK army now, but anyway that was of later concern. Building the army took a lot of time and has seen a lot of ups and downs: being an active student organisation member did not help, and more than regularly visiting our own bar combined with studying did not always help either.

    Now, many years later, after studying in the UK for 4,5 months my interest in warhammer and the HE's (the latest release was during that time) has regained my attention as well, so I intend to 'finish' my HE army. This means it will be expanded to a full legally employable 7000 point army. This means adding core troops, since I've always relied on cavalry since the infantry was rediciously pricy in 6th ed. HE, compared to what they could do. Also, cavalry suited my playing style but the 7th ed. rules has encouraged me to change and try out new playing styles as well (when I play at all, because I hardly ever do so- also something which I want to positively change).

    I hope you enjoy the pictures, and I'd love to hear from you guys what I should add to make this army even more interesting.

    Sorry about the pictures, but my phone provides me with the best and only camera I have...

    Re: 7000pointsworthofHighElves

    The army before I went to the UK:

    Still some unpainted models there which have now all been finished. I have a rule about painting and collecting: I am allowed only two units in production in each phase which can only be broken when I start painting a third unit which has already been assembled. The phases are: assembling and painting. This keeps me from piling up models that need work. Ever since I finished the models for a playable 1500 pnt HE army I've never played with unpainted models again. This led me to finish all the models I had at the time piecemeal, which was rewarding since it allowed me to paint faster and play a new unit every one or two weeks!

    Now: I am working on a second Lion Chariot and the new DE Cold One Knights (might consider building an DE army).

    The army as it is now, seen from above:

    I still need to add models to the Lothern Sea Guard and the small spearmen unit. Also, I need more archers. I may build and paint some more Reavers as well in the far future.

    My Dragon Princes:

    Most of you will notice that these are unusual Dragon Prince models. I used the feather helms from the High Helms (in the Silver Helm units) and used these to make a unit which is obviously different from SH units. I don't like Dragon Princes as such, since my army is themed to be from Chrace. You see mountains and griffons (and it's feathers) as a returning theme in this army. Also, for the 7000 (or leading up to 8000) point army I want to use Lion Chariots as the 'squadron' unit which is allowed following the special rules for mega-battles which GW released some time ago (with the siege battle report with Gork battering ram (25000 point battle).

    The first Lion Chariot:

    Re: 7000pointsworthofHighElves

    Irrelevant pictures for this thread, but I'd like to share them anyway: my other 2 armies. The TK army is about 3500-4000 points when using all characters allowed and tooled up. Really need to add some tomb guard, but this army has been sitting in the display for a very long time. No priority there.

    A different matter is my chaos army: I wanted my third army to have a very strong theme and some major conversions. My Warriors of Chaos army is waiting for the new release in November, but already includes two chaos chariots- stegadons with warriors for the lustria theme. Also in theme are the carnosaur riding Exalted Champion (on deamonic steed, for gaming purposes) and the chaos knights (of which only one has been built until now, riding new lizardmen coldones - not in the picture). Also, minor changes have been made using weapons & headswaps and I've even started some sculping on my own, making the decoration and armour on the giant and sculping some pouches, chainmail etc on the marauders.

    Nothing is irrelevent, its your log, you post what you like (painting wise that is, nothing else please )

    For instance, as a chaos man myself, I'd like to see some more snaps of your chaos army. That one is in the shade a little, and you've put some hard work into conversions and themes, so lets see it!

    Going back to the pointy eared for a second, you've got some pretty sweet stuff. My favourite is the lion chariot. Very nice.

    Re: 7000pointsworthofHighElves

    Awesome. The carnosaur dude is pure class, lots of character in that model, and nice use of different components. I spy tomb king, empire, lizardmen and chaos bits. I like the cowering empire dude, nice touch. You just know he's going get spanked by that axe.

    The chariots again, have lots of character, and whilst being expensive to make, they look suitably worth it. The chaos icon on the steg's head are a nice touch, and the spears look cool too. Clearly you've put a lot of thought in.

    Nice work.

    Great job on those banners too. I like the whole T-Rex thing you have going with them.

    In fact, I like the whole theme with that army.

    Thanks for your enthousiastic reply's. The carnosaur riding chaos lord is composed as follows:

    main body: space wolves character model;
    legs: lord of slaanesh on steed of slaanesh;
    arm: knights of chaos shield & arm;
    other arm: axe and arm from marauder kit;
    steed: carnosaur from lizardmen;
    accessories: tomb kings, beastherd sprue and several Verlinden Productions (VP) wrapped up blankets and stuff. Also, netting made from VP camo netting, to fill any gaps that would otherwise remain visible.

    The progress on my next model: assembled and basecoated Lion Chariot. After this, I intend to finish my HE army by buying a batalion box.

    Great armies!
    Your HE army has a nice coherrent feel, even though the pics are not detailed enough for a final judgement.

    I would like some Tomb Kings close ups. There´s definately not enough of these on this board.

    Keep it up!

    sweet jezus, thats some AWESOME paintwork there m8! was wondering in the shop today what kind of stuff you'd be producing, but this surpassed my every imagination! Ik hope to field my humble orcs against one of your armies soon, but done expect this level of paintwork from your oponents please
